Chapter 28: Battle for the Alpha seat.In ancient times, before the war that happened ten years ago, the Battle of Alphas happened frequently. It is a fight between the already acknowledged Alpha of a pack and any other Alpha who wants to snatch the pack. Among wolves, strength is everything. Therefore, no powerful Alpha wolf will willingly submit to a weaker wolf. Because of this, the Alpha of a wolf pack is usually the most powerful wolf of that pack. And due to the nature of this battle, it is typically a fight to the death. Because of the effect of the civil war that happened after the continental war, 10, 000 years ago, the werewolf clans became weak due to the massive deaths. The Supreme Alphas who rose to intervene and stopped the civil war, therefore, adopted the political ways of humans. Instead of Alpha wolves just randomly fighting for power, — an act that often ends up with devastating infighting within the ruling families of a pack, — a careful selection of Pack Alphas
Chapter 29: Sold? When they got to the cave, they headed for the same tunnel that Megan and Ryan used for their escape and made it to the forest in record time. They continually traveled for three days. The storm was thinning out by then, and they had it easier than Ryan and Megan. When they got to Lua, Alaric was met by his friend in the lustrous town; Conri. Conri was a boorish Alpha wolf from another pack. He ran a chain of hotels and restaurants in Lua, Zoman and Baril. It was said that his family also has some establishments in the human realm. He and Alaric had known each other for a very long time and any time Alaric was in town, he would stay at any of Conri's hotels. Oliver and the boys were also no stranger to Conri, thanks to their grandfather's ties with him. Wherever Oliver or the boys travel to, as long as Conri's hotel or inn was found there, they would always stay at that hotel. When they arrived, Conri spared no effort in getting them comfortable and well settled.
Chapter 30 : Battle!Instantly, two men climbed the stage carrying a ballot box with several sticks. Each stick had a number on it from one to fourteen. Once they placed it in the center stage at the forefront of the stage, they quickly left. “All participants will walk over to the box and pick a stick. Whatever number you pick will determine the day you will fight…” The kingmaker continued. “The number you pick will be your identity throughout the tournament. The only Wolf that will be acknowledged at the end of this tournament will be the wolf that wins. You may draw your lot.”Every fighter stood up and hurried over to the ballot box. Even though none of them had seen Cal's wolf, they still didn't want to be the first to fight. Therefore, they all rushed to the left of the ballot and started struggling for the last four sticks. There was a good reason for this. Since the battle would happen for seven days, with two fights daily, it meant that Cal had no choice but to fight every
Chapter 31: I will give you a quick death!Evening time, Cal Rough was in his room when one of the servants assigned to him knocked on the door. “Sir, the council of elders is here to see you.” The servant called out from outside the door since Cal didn't ask him to come in. Oh! Call raised his brows in amusement. Considering their attitude since his arrival, he thought they had the gut to keep fighting, but he was mistaken. Cal smirked, dropped the cigar in his hand in an ashtray and went to open the door. “Where are they?” He stared down at the not so calm servant. “You said I shouldn't let anyone into the courtyard. So they are outside the gate.” The terrified servant replied. Despite the large number of wolves ready to do menial jobs, he was the only one the council had assigned to Cal's courtyard. The Kingmakers were just two, and they were assigned four servants. Even the new Shaman was given the control of the three servants who were attending to the previous Shaman. Con
Chapter 32; Bernard's schemes. Plus the three days of travel, Alaric, and his boys, ate nothing for five days. They were weak and dejected. Oliver tried to talk to everyone, but none of them paid him mind. The cave was cold, smelled like rotten eggs at certain times of the night, and countless bugs to keep them company. Because of the wolfs bane in their blood, they couldn't protect themselves from the bugs. This led to them spending the nights wide awake, warding off bugs, all night long. Therefore, they were all trying to catch up on sleep and conserve energy during the day. On the evening of their second day in the cell, they heard footsteps approaching. And even then, Nobody moved to check who it was. After all, the masked men guarding them always walk around intermittently, checking on their inmates. Alaric was seated against the wall of his cell with his eyes closed when one of the masked men started banging on his cell's iron bar. He knew the man thought he was sleeping and
Chapter 33 Kurt's ArrivalDeeply troubled, Bernard returned to the pack ground in a gloomy mood. After several days of trying to get news about Lucas, he was beginning to fear the worst. He believed that Lucas was captured by Kurt and Cal was sent to replace him. To add to his worries, he wasn't able to contact the old Shaman or Elvira's father either. He had asked Ashley, his daughter, to keep contacting Elvira, but it seemed she too had gone offline. This made him to keep feeling like something terrible would soon happen within the pack. Convinced that Kurt will soon appear in Blue-Mist and act on the rest of Lucas' team, Bernard decided to make a deal with Alaric. If Alaric could hand over his granddaughter, he would let Alaric and the rest of his family leave. If he could do that, when Kurt arrives, he would at least have something to show for his loyalty. He didn't believe that Kurt would capture him like he did to Lucas, since he was just Lucas' Gamma. A position he had gained
Chapter 34 Bernard's fate.“Continue.” Kurt said to the Kingmakers in a deep voice. “My Prince, as I was saying, we have already concluded the battle of the Alphas. We are just awaiting some key elders of the house of Hank. Once they get here in a couple of days, we will conduct the seat ascension.”“I see.” Kurt nodded. “In that case, elder Cal of the house of Hank, I challenge you in a battle of Alphas for the seat of Blue-Mist pack!” Kurt casually proclaimed. His voice was low, raspy, and deep, but each word sounded like a clap of thunder in Cal's ears. Prince Kurt, a royal blood like himself, had challenged him for his seat. A seat he righteously won. But instead of being arrogant or angry, Cal crashed to his knees and hit his head on the ground. “My Prince!” He yelled with a terror filled voice. “ I dare not accept this challenge. I forfeit the seat!” The Kingmakers were shocked. What was this? Noticing their shaken expressions, Adolph snorted. “Are you against this, Kingma
Chapter 35: Bernard's fate 2“I smell rotten flesh.” Adolph was still standing beside the Williams. He lifted his nose in the air and started sniffing. After a bit, he brought his nose down and started sniffing the Williams, one after the other until he got to Scott. Without saying a word, he bent down and checked Scott's legs. They were encased in wood planks tied together with strong, tiny ropes. “Who did this?” Adolph asked in annoyance.“I…j…just wanted to help the Prince interrogate them, but elder Alaric refused to yield, regardless of what I said or did. That is why his legs became like that.” Bernard stuttered through his explanation. “So you broke my brother-in-law's legs.” Kurt nodded with a sarcastic laugh. He started rattling his fingers on the table at a rhythmic pace.“Did I not warn you all that nothing should happen to them all?” Adolph asked, leaving Bernard and the rest confused and frustrated. When Kurt chose Megan as his future Luna, all he said was that Megan
