"Here," they were inside the carriage when Quinlan handed her his hankie.

"I'm very much okay," Penelope reproved him and fixed her gaze on the window as the carriage moved. She didn't even accept what he lent her out of pity.

Quinlan examined the side of her face, the claw bruise was still so fresh and she was lucky it missed her eye, else she would've been blind. He wanted to go in and contribute his own beating to the bastard who hurt her that way, but his under butler had already done the job.

The fact that she appeared unfazed after being hurt like that, baffled him. But he sort of felt sorry for her.

"What are you doing? I told you I'm fine," Penelope almost raised her voice because Quinlan had his hankie dabbing the blood off her face, "I'll heal within twenty-four hours," she added but she didn't push his hand away. Instead, she let him.

"That's too long, I heal within three hours when I'm injured," he revealed.

"That's because you're the Beta of our pack,"

"True."
