The afternoon sunlight reflected weakly through the thick clouds, a small light reflecting the entrance to the sports club. Nate, Kim, and Mike pushed through the heavy glass doors. When they stepped inside, everyone could smell that usual scent of polished wood and the smell of sweat. The sounds of squeaking sneakers, murmurs, and the bouncing of basketballs echoed from the whole hall.
A tall, handsome, young, athletic guy in a club jacket walked towards them and welcomed them with a warm smile spreading across his face. "Hey, man! I'm Jason, the final-year president of the sports club," he said, extending his hand.
Nate returned the strong handshake with a gentle smile, glancing around. "Hi, Jason, I'm Nate, and these are my friends, Mike and Kim. We noticed on the student organisation board outside that we are interested in joining the basketball club."
Jason's smile widened. "Great! You guys are always welcome, "he said, watching them all.
"Before joining, you must fill out these entry forms, and we'll inform you by the end of the week." He grabbed a few forms from the nearby desk.
"Thank you," Kim said.
"If you have any questions in that form, don't hesitate to ask me," he said while he waved, greeting another student entering the hall.
Mike unzipped his bag, took a pen from it, and glanced towards the hall where players were spiking a volleyball over the net. "Nice and huge place," he muttered, a flash of excitement already stirring within him.
"Yeah…" Nate and Kim agreed while watching outside.
Mike glanced at his form, a slight frown on his face. He wondered aloud, "Are you all going to fill in your original guardian's phone number or just put down random numbers?"
Kim, eyes narrowed, replied, "Honestly, I just wrote down the first random number that came to mind!"
Nate raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Hey, dude," he said, "you should fill in your parents' number instead! If something serious happens and you're in trouble, that random number isn't going to help!"
Kim nodded, "Yeah... so don't cheat on them because one day you are going to cheat with your hands."
While they filled out the forms, another group of students entered the hall, tossing a basketball casually between them, the sound of the ball bouncing echoing in the empty hall. Nate's gaze moved upward towards the ball-bouncing area, and he noticed Aaron. He was lean and muscular, with broad shoulders and a confident, genuine smile across his face, and he chatted easily with his friends.
"Are you guys finished filling the forms?" Jason asked, interrupting Nate's observation.
"Yeah, we're done," they replied, handing him the forms.
Jason glanced at them. "Okay, thank you. We'll let you know by message or call," he said, joining the other students, including Aaron.
Kim turned to Nate. "Okay, Nate, I must run to my business math lecture." He grabbed his bag and hurried off.
Nate and Mike nodded, each heading toward their respective lectures.
Nate walked towards his lecture hall, thinking, What is Evangeline currently doing? Why didn't she approach me? Maybe she will. In the meantime, I need to submit my files to the BDN company.
Evangeline tapped her pen against her table and glanced around the hall. Everyone was busy with projects; some were already ready for dates, some were on dates, and her friend was engrossed with his partner. But she still didn't know where her partner had gone, still searching for him. Where the fuck has he gone? God doesn't have a 0.1% grace on me, she thought. Everyone's paired up, laughing, actually working... and I'm stuck with a no-show. She rested her chin on her hand, glancing at her watch and the other students.
Finally, after an eternity of scrolling through reels, Nate walked in casually. He didn't even glance at anyone, just sat down in the chair opposite her. She checked her watch. Three o'clock. Shit. This wasn't going to work, even though he had no idea an innocent girl was waiting for him. He was going to pay for that.
Zoey came upstairs, watching her single. "Hey, Eve, what happened? Are you still here? Where's Nate?"
Luna, holding a laptop, added, "He's right there. Why don't you ask him yourself, instead of just sitting here watching him?"
Evangeline took a deep breath, looking up. "Me... watching him... I've waited for him for, like, two hours; now he shows up. What am I supposed to do?"
Zoey's voice, laced with teasing, asked, "Oh, I see... I thought you were scared of asking him."
"Who... me? Are you scared of him? Uh... What do you think of me?" Evangeline retorted and flipped her hair back.
Luna mocked, mimicking Evangeline's earlier expression. "We've all seen that look when you read his name." She laughed.
Evangeline bit her lip, a flash of doubt crossing her face. "I'm not scared," she called out. "I waited for him... It's his mistake not to show up. He'll pay for this," she muttered, a forced smile tugging at her lips.
"We are eagerly waiting for it. Who is going to pay for whom? Is that right, Zoey?" Luna replied.
Zoey nodded her head. "Yeah... go and approach him. Okay, go ahead, now! He's packing his bag. Go... go...!"
Eve took a deep breath before taking another step, trying to calm the panic-struck beating of her heart, and wondered why I said he was just a man. Even I can't tell them the truth. "Okay, let's watch me," she said, finally overcoming her nervousness.
Eve stood confidently at her desk. She grabbed her bag as she walked slyly towards the door. Her heart pounded when she watched Nate exit the classroom. Sensing her uncertainty, Joe poked her gently.
The final bell rang, signifying the end of university. She said her goodbyes by waving her hands to Joe and Lilly.Outside the hallway, cold air blew everywhere. Evangeline watched both directions of the hallway, which side he was going, and followed Nate as he exited the north side lecture hall, her heart pounding in her chest.
"Nate, wait!" she called out from a few meters' distance between them, but he walked fast, pretending not to hear her. She shouted after him, her voice echoing down the hallway. "Nate!"
No response
Nate walked straight ahead, his expression unchanging. The murmur of voices followed him down the hallway, heads turning, eyes watching him. He gave no reaction, but he noticed that his gaze was fixed straight, his shoulders remained relaxed, his pace was even, and a subtle air of detachment radiated from him.
"Nate, wait!" She shouted again, but he continued, still acting as if he couldn't hear her.
Everyone in the hallway paused to watch her when she shouted his name loudly.
After realising everyone's eyes were on both, he finally paused, rolled his eyes upwards as annoying, and turned to face her, his countenance unreadable. "What?" His voice was deep and gentle. He took a couple of steps closer, making her feel small. Evangeline's attention briefly shifted from his muscular chest to his belt before darting away. "OMG, his body, fragrance, it's annoying. "Focus, Eve. Focus.... What will he think..." she thought, flustered. Nate stepped closer than before and leaned, his breath warm against her ear. His eyes lit up with a teasing spark." "Enjoying the view?" he murmured in a husky tone. A nervousness erupted in Evangeline's stomach. She stepped back, her words tripping over one another, and she couldn't even look him in the eyes directly now. "Yes... I mean..." She shook her head. "No... I am your partner." "Wait....What?" Nate lifted an eyebrow, visibly surprised. Under her breath, Evangeline mumbled; she swallowed her saliva. What the fuck happened to me? She thought, "I… I mean, I'm your business communication partner."She was bemused for a while before responding with a casual shrug.
Nate studied her expression from top to bottom, his gaze cool and unreadable. A smirk formed at the corner of his lips. "Okay, so what?"
She exhaled, her patience wearing thin. "We need to do the project. Are you available this weekend?"Nate could have shrugged and played this game longer, but he was already having too much fun watching her irritation grow. "Calm down. I'll do the whole project myself. You can sit back and enjoy your grade." His deep voice carried an effortless confidence, making it clear he wasn't interested in teamwork.Zoey and Luna walked near to Eve; Zoey coughed to signal her.Evangeline understood she was standing behind her. Shit! I don't know how to handle this situation; my friends are already here. Eve, be confident.... she thought. She raises a confident voice, and her tone becomes loud and sly too, "Dude, I can't stay in your apartment; how can I trust a stranger like you?"Nate smirked at her sudden change; he stepped closer, and the playful smirk remained. "You have no choice, Baby."Evangeline's words slurred, echoing her heartbeat in her ears, "Excuse me... I am not a baby?"Nate chuc
Mm?" he said."Sir," the waiter interrupted, "here is your coffee," and placed the coffee gently on the table. "Enjoy your coffee, sir, madam," the waiter said with a polite smile and bowed before leaving."It smells so good," she breathed coffee aroma and sipped her coffee. "Yeah... it tastes delicious; it's relaxing my mind," she said, closing her eyes and feeling the aroma.Aaron nodded and sipped his coffee, his eyes meeting hers. "Who's that guy? I don't think I've seen him around."With a wide smile, Evangeline replied, "Oh, he's new. But that's not the issue." Her expression shifted, annoyance flashing across her face. She flouted, rolling her eyes. "He thinks of himself as high." She sipped her coffee. "He's showing far too much attitude," she continued, her tone sharper. Venting her annoyance about Nate.Aaron listened, but the mention of Nate's name again, quiet frustration increased within him, and he squeezed his hand shut... He hid his anger behind a polite smile, though
Later, at 2.00 pm, loud rock music blasted through the speakers. Jason, the assistant president of the sports club, stood with his arms crossed. When he cut the music with a sharp gesture, he shot a look toward Alex. "We're not here for a party, Alex." Alex smirked but didn't respond."Everyone will be here in five minutes; if we act like kids, how will they respect us?" Jason continued, not finishing his sentence before nearly ten students rushed in through the gate."Alright, hurry up! We have no time." Jason called out to his friends to arrange the chairs. The hall was filled with students, and sneakers echoed on the floor. "Please settle down!" he announced after the students had calmed. Once they were settled, he took the microphone. "Hi, everyone. Welcome to the basketball stadium."He faced the front of the students. "Firstly, we'll conduct a selection test on Monday, and your scores will determine whether you move forward in the process." Alex added, standing near Jason wi
"I know it was hard to accept, but she's still family," Emiko said quietly, with sadness. "She made a huge mistake, but how did her daughter get punished for her mother's mistake? Let her go, Dami. Just let her go. We have everything. We have a beautiful family, and that is all we want."Damien stood silent. He grabbed his briefcase without a word, walked to the door, and stopped without watching Emiko. "I will be late today; don't wait for me," he said deep, loudly, and left the room.As the door clicked shut, Emiko took a deep breath. "One day, he would understand himself. She was like a sister to me. We're all responsible for what happened. And no matter what, I want this family to find its way back together—like the old days." She said with guilty tears and recapped her old memories.Serena lay on the bed, sunlight through the Window to bed, fresh morning air, she draped in a red lace maxi nightdress, her fingers tracing idle patterns on the sheets where Ethan had just been search
Serena reached into the courier and pulled out several photographs. Serena's eyes were wide when she looked at a bunch of images, and her breath hitched. A high school picture of Evangeline with an innocent smile, A candid shot of her 18th birthday party in class. And a photo of Zoey and Luna on a hiking trip with campfire moments. And shockingly, the most recent photo of Evangeline and Aaron at a coffee bar. After watching all the photos, Serena's fingers tightened around the photos, her breath was heavy as she held the photos, fear flickering in her eyes. Memories of her wedding day flooded back, her mind racing. How?... How did he find out she was in Texas? He's been watching us all this time. He must plot something.... I have to check on her. Then, she brushed off her emotions, and her expression shifted to one of calm confidence that was hard to read.Nick watched her sudden change of facial expression, he understood something was wrong with that letter; he stepped forward sligh
Luna held Zoey's hands. "Hey.... Zoo, I can feel your pain, but what if Evangeline also has the same feelings for him?"Zoey hugged her tightly, her words trembling, "Please... Luna, I can't imagine that... but I can sacrifice for Eve. She deserves someone who loves her," she said while crying on her shoulder."What if she thinks of Aaron as a friend? We hope, okay..." Luna assured her, wiping her tears. "She will be soon. Go and touch up your mascara."Outside the room, Evangeline kept three glasses of juice, standing like a statue. After hearing all the conversation, her eyes also became wet. Wiping her tears with her hand, she took the next step strongly to indicate she is there. She walked casually. "Sorry for the delay, guys.... I took to add some love and care with my juice for my lovely friends...."Luna's and Zoey's eyes open wide in shock as they are glancing at each other."Why do you guys stare at me like you're watching a ghost?" she said with causal tone."Uh!!!!!!! No...
"Oh!!! I really appreciate your help, but it's ok, Nate, it's almost finished," she said, watching the remaining five unfilled empty glasses. From the entrance door of the garden, someone called, "Lisa ... Lisa ... Come here"Lisa turned towards another friend. "What happened, Luca?" she asked, her voice with a hint of urgency.Turning back to Nate, a slight apologetic tone in her voice, "Sorry to bother you, Nate, can you just pour remaining glass Please........""Sure, why not? "he replied without any hesitation. He reached for the bottles, his movements deliberate. Kim, watching from the side, noticed Nate selecting the most potent liquors, combining them in a way that made her uneasy. "Dude, why are you mixing two stronger drinks in the same glass?" Kim asked in a husky voice.Nate, with a smirk on his face, appeared clearly of his plan, "Wait and watch," he said in sly tone, he took 2 coins, placed on his pocket.Kim's eyes followed his movements, a sense of foreboding creeping
Luna, standing near their table, said, " You guys! I can't manage both of you." Her voice was strained.Kim stands nearby, his eyes fixed on Nate. "So, you already planned this, huh?" he murmured with suspicion. Luna took her phone and called Aaron, nervously dialed Aaron, the ringing echoing in the garden, but no answer.Nate glanced at Luna, a smirk playing on his lips, and moved towards Luna. "Is that everything okay? If you don't mind, do you need any help?" Luna glanced at the empty garden; her eyes filled with worry, and she nodded. "Yup... I can't handle both of them like this. It's already late." She hesitated for a brief moment and then asked," Nate, can you help me? If you are free, can you drop Eve at her house?" Nate glances at Evangeline, then back at Luna. "Alright, is that okay with her?"Luna watched both of them, her expression apologetic. "I know you're a new student, but I have no choice. It's already late."Nate nodded his head with a warm smile. "Okay, I'll tak
"Who might be?" Aaron thought. He walked to the washroom absently, splashed cold tap water on his face, watching his disappointment and regret reflected in the mirror. "I hope everything is solved soon," he said, wiping his wet face with a towel and opening the door.Aaron's eyes widened in shock. "Uh! Lee," he whispered, before another word came out of his mouth. Liam punched him in the face hard and slapped him.Aaron didn't react or defend himself. He stood silently watching the floor in guilt. Liam, his hand still raised back for another punch, watched Aaron's broken expression and the blood trickling from the corner of his lip. He signed, and slowly he lowered his hand down. "Just hit me harder, Lee.... I deserve this...." Aaron grabbed Liam's hand and slapped it against his cheek. "Please hit me...." he begged, his words slurring, broken into crying.Liam's eyes furrowed in confusion; his rage reduced to concern. "Hey, Aaron, what happened?" he asked, gently lifting Aaron's chi
In the evening, the sunset bled across the endless beach in golden color, the cold breeze whispered with wave sounds making the party perfect. Down the shore, the staff were preparing barbeque and fruit salads, the scent of grilled seafood mingling with cold air, and another side, different types of drinks were being poured into glasses.Chris was relaxed wearing casual pants and a white shirt, holding a streamed cup, watching the sunset. "Eve, are you okay?" he asked, watching Evangeline's swollen face. He is sipping his coffee slowly. "Sorry, we both bailed on you so suddenly last night."Evangeline offered him a strained smile on her face, "It's completely fine, Chris. You too human right?" The laughter sound echoed behind them, interrupting their conversation. Both of them turned, glancing at who it was. Her eyes were red, flickering with disappointment as she saw Aaron and Zoey chasing each other playfully near the water's edge. She quickly averted her gaze, focusing on the beach.
Aaron hesitated, then blurted out, "Um! Can I propose to you tomorrow... at the beach?""Huh!" Zoey's surprised by his words, her eyebrows shooting up."Yes, " Aaron continued, "I've been thinking. If I propose to you, maybe... maybe Eve will finally open up about her feelings. right?" He said as he watched Zoey's excitement on her face.He is a pure idiot. Anyway, it's beneficial to me, Zoey wondered as she nodded her head." Okay... that might actually be the best idea. Don't worry, Aaron," she murmured, and hugged him gently at the back of his shoulder, the victory smirk replaced on her lips.At the same time, Liam entered Aaron's bedroom, his eyes widening at the unexpected scene. "What the hell?" he murmured, looking at Aaron and Zoey in disbelief expression on his face The tension in the room peaked. "I think I have to go, it's already 3 am." Zoey offered a casual wave at them, "Bye, Liam, Bye, Aaron."The moment the door clicked shut behind her, Liam grabbed Aaron's shirt, his
"When do you become an Egotist?" Evangeline's voice was cold, tinged with hurt. "I don't understand you anymore." Her eyes remained fixed on him, a slight, disappointed smirk on her lips. "You're going to regret this, Aaron. This changes everything between us. I don't think I can ever talk until you regret it." With a determined movement, she raised her hand. "I vote for Aaron." She turned sharply and walked off the stage, her movements mixed with anger and finality."What?" The group was shocked with whispers. The staff announced the final result: "Aaron 2 votes, Aaron Identity was Villager. ""Mafia won the game." Lucas erupted in victory and started jumping from the same place."Oh shit!" a defeated murmur passed between the remaining Villagers. "So close," Harry muttered, already turning towards the exit, the weight of the loss heavy on his shoulders.Kim and Lucas hugged each other, "We did it...." they shouted, their voice echoed in the hall.Liam stood straightly watching the s
The staff's voice cut through the tense silence. "The result of the 3rd round, " the staff's voice echoed in the room. "Kim 1 vote, Evangeline 2 votes, Aaron 3 votes, and Zoey 5 votes.""What the f*ck?" Zoey's voice was a strangled whisper, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Zoey identity was a doctor" "What? She is a doctor" Victoria said, her surprise evident."You guys are crazy," Zoey's voice cracked with frustration, her sharp gaze locking onto Evangeline, a flicker of anger in her eyes."Why she is mad at me?" Evangeline murmured to Victoria, a knot of worry tightening in her stomach. "Maybe she didn't expect it" Victoria replied."Maybe," Evangeline whispered, her eyes still on Zoey's retreating figure. "Next round in ten minutes ...." the staff announced.Nate moved with a confident air towards Lucas. "If you were Mafia," he began, his voice low and persuasive, "what would be your first move?""I find the investigator first. He must be our problem" Lucas whispered to his ear, hi
"I am not..." Aaron said with a casual shrug.Liam's gaze, sharp with disappointment, that seemed to physically weigh him down, raked over Aaron. "Dude, what the hell happened to you?" He shook his head as refused to accept the bitter truth "You're making a mistake, a huge one. I knew how much you love Evangeline, but looking at this room, I can't believe you did it"Aaron let out a deep breath,, the heavy unspoken words mixed in the air. "Don't rush to judgment, Lee. Trust me, I would never disappoint my friend, You will understand it later," he said as he grabbed a nearby towel, his movements stiff, and headed towards the bathroom and shut the door.Liam sighed and walked angrily out of Nate's room.Meanwhile, in the quiet room, Victoria lying on Nate's bed, her eyes tracing the patterns on the ceiling. A soft smile touched her lips. " I think I like Eve," she said, "She is perfect for my brother."Nate, a smirk instantly replacing his neutral expression at the sound of Evangeline
Before he could step towards the Nate, Zoey's hand clamped onto his. "Come on, Aaron," she said, her voice too loud, her laughter directed more at drawing attention than genuine amusement. She hugged him firmly towards the quieter, opposite end of the beach.Nearby, Nate's gaze shifted to Evangeline as she walks shy towards him. His eyes traced the curvy body, a small, persistent smile playing on his lips. "You look.... great," Nate said."Thanks, Nate," Evangeline replied, her smile widening genuinely. "You look great too." She then reached out and took Victoria's hand, their fingers instantly intertwining."You two became close in one day," Nate observed, watching the easy camaraderie between them."Yeah..." they said in unison, sharing a laugh. "Okay... Can we race?" Victoria suggested, pulling both of their hands, her energy infectious as she started jogging towards the north side. "Catch me, Eve..." Victoria called back, glancing over her shoulder with a playful grin. They stopp
"We reached the beach High-five each other!" Harry shouted while watching the view of the beach. Others cheered. The bus stopped in front of the private villa with a huge, big swimming pool on the right side and the footpath was creative. The laborers were already waiting for them, they took their luggage toward their allocated rooms.Liam jumps from the last stair of the bus as landed perfectly and spreading his hands wide like wings and inhale deeply the fresh warm air. "Let's go..." he shouted with adventure in his voice as he ran towards the villa."Wow, this villa is huge," Luna breathed, her eyes tracing the infrastructure and modern designs. "This is my best trip ever""Inside was cooler than outside," Zoey commented as she inhaled the delicate rose scent of the room spray."Now the time is 3 p.m. Your rooms are already pre-assigned. If you need anything or wish to change, ask the manager in that room. Get ready, wear something nice," Kim instructed, his gaze sweeping over eve
The 2 hours later.Laughter and excited chatter filled the luxurious bus, while the cool air from the air conditioning battled the sweltering heat outside. Passengers wore light, beach-themed dresses and shorts that swayed as they moved around. Some played cards on fold-down tables, while others gazed out the windows and others took photos and posting on social media.Chris's phone vibrated in his pocket. He pulled out and the screen displayed 'Serena.' He cleared his throat before attending, the sound of chatting, and playing laughter echoed through the bus, so he moved to the driver's side for some semblance of quiet. "Yes, Ma'am," he said, his voice confident. The driver glanced at him, then back at the road."It seems, you are already on a trip, Chris," Serena asked."Yes, Ma'am. Your daughter, Eve. " He paused "Sorry Ma'am Evangeline Ma'am informed you previously, she said not to check on you because you were busy at work." he stammered. Serena laughed; her voice tone increased.
