Something a guilty person was likely to do.

I probed further. “We just don’t know how far your loyalty to her went. Or who else you were protecting.”

Guilt. And fear.

“I only did what I thought was right,” he whispered. “She told me… she told me the prophecy would bring ruin. That your bond would awaken something uncontrollable. That the pack would be torn apart by power and chaos.”

“That wasn’t your choice to make,” I snapped, the words burning in my throat.

He looked down. “It wasn’t just me.”

My heart pounded.

“Who?” Julian demanded, stepping forward. “Who else was part of this?”

Harin opened his mouth.

But at that moment, a sharp gasp tore from his chest. His eyes bulged, his fingers clawing at his throat.

“Harin!” I shouted, l

FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT!It's a phrase I have always lived by. And yes, as you've probably guessed it's not really a good thing.I used to be this happy, bubbly child that everyone loved and adored. Brilliant, bold and beautiful, I was all of them, and this was proudly sponsored by Mother.Until she died!Father was thrown into grieving. I was just ten, they told me she had gone to join the other good people in the sky, and she was always watching over me, but I knew. They seemed to have forgotten that little Raven was not so little anymore, and she knew things that were above her age.I wish I didn't.I wish I was able to believe them. I wish I didn't know that my precious mother was dead, and no, she was not watching over me, instead she was decaying six feet underneath the ground. I still maintained the qualities that endeared everyone to me, except one.I wasn't so happy anymore. Since everyone had expected me to be swept away by their lies, I had to act like I was. So I faked

An unwanted loop. “Join us, Raven, or leave."I know. What the fuck?I was taken aback, the pain in my chest slicing my heart into a million pieces, and slicing those pieces into many more pieces. How could Luca do this me?“Luca, how could you do this to me?" I sniffed. He vividly rolled his eyes, his expression far from pleasant. “Oh come on, Raven. Please, stop being so dramatic. Join the fun, or you better not ruin it."Elena—that bitch—held his hand immediately, her facial features a stark complex from Luca's. "Alpha, don't talk to her like that. She's gonna cry.”‘Is this lady mocking you right now?’ Nia snarled, her anger rising intensively. While she was angry, I was so fucking hurt!“Elena…” I trailed off, swallowing the words in my chest. My best friend!"Raven, I promise you. I exclaimed. “You scared us for a minute." The messenger snapped out of it, bowing immediately. “I'm so sorry, Alpha and Lady Raven." Julian nodded curtly. “What brings you here?" He pulled out a heap of books and tomes from the small bag he held. “The Beta asked me to deliver these to his daughter." Julian parted for me to get them. I did, my eyes narrowing cautiously on the heap. “Thank you." "Also,” the messenger began, "He has asked for a brief conversation with the Alpha. He says it is urgent.”Julian groaned lightly, and a chuckle escaped my lips. "Tell him he'll be there.” I injected. The messenger nodded. He took his leave, and Julian shut the door, leaving just us both together again.“You want me to leave?" He asked with furrowed brows.I shrugged, a smile on my lips. “Well, just say I nee

CHAPTER 52MY SKIN BURNED.I exhaled slowly, heart pounding. “Julian…”He took one step forward and then another, until the space between us disappeared. His fingers found mine, gently curling around them. “Four days, Raven,” he said, voice low and hoarse. “Four days I thought I’d lost you. And now you’re here. And I can feel you—really feel you. I don’t want to waste another second.”“I was afraid,” I whispered, my throat tightening. “That I’d never get the chance to know what it really felt like—to be yours. To feel what we were meant to feel.”Julian cupped my cheek with a trembling hand. “Do you feel it now?”I nodded, and my eyes blurred with tears. “It’s burning through me.”His lips met mine before I could say another word. There was no hesitation, no caution. Just raw, desperate need. His mouth moved over mine like a promise he’d been aching to keep. My fingers threaded into his hair as I leaned into him, breath catching at the sheer weight of what surged between us. The bond,
