Alpha Dante’s POV

"Dad, we really need your help."

The office smelled like ink, old paper, and the sharp bite of disinfectant.

I stood by the wide window behind his desk, with my hands clenched in my pockets. Wolves moved across the courtyard below us while my thoughts ran around in circles.

Brandon continued to speak behind me. “The pack cannot go on like this,” he said. “Our medical wing is short on supplies. The southern border was attacked last month by the Umbrals.”

Alpha Dante’s POV"Dad, we really need your help."The office smelled like ink, old paper, and the sharp bite of disinfectant.I stood by the wide window behind his desk, with my hands clenched in my pockets. Wolves moved across the courtyard below us while my thoughts ran around in circles.Brandon continued to speak behind me. “The pack cannot go on like this,” he said. “Our medical wing is short on supplies. The southern border was attacked last month by the Umbrals.”Without turning around, I stretched out my hand across the glass as Taylor's figure walked across the courtyard.“And?” I asked. He stopped pacing. “And we need your help.”I could hear his breathing shift. My heart pounded away in my chest as she suddenly stopped in the middle as if she sensed me. A smile spread across my face as she shook her head, sent a hateful glare toward the window, and practically ran out of the courtyard.“If we merged the packs,” he continued, “even partially, we would become stronger. Your

Taylor's POV“You barely look at me anymore.” Clara's voice whined through the receiver in front of me.Her heels clicked against the wooden floor so hard I could picture her pacing.Brandon’s voice bit back. “Lower your voice.”“I will not,” she snapped. “Ever since she came back, you’ve been distracted. Always Taylor this, Taylor that.”I leaned slightly closer to the receiver.Please... Give me something good to work with.“I am handling things,” Brandon said. “For our good.”“Our good?” Clara laughed, sharp and ugly. “Yelling at me is for our good?”There was silence. Then the scrape of a chair.“You cannot be seriously jealous of a girl who remembers nothing,” Brandon said.My fingers curled slowly.Clara let out a breath through her nose. “I am not jealous. I am cautious. You seem to be forgetting that this girl can destroy us if she ever gains her memory back.”“I forget nothing. Taylor will still die, there's nothing that's going to change that. But she can't die now because t

Taylor’s POV“Miss Taylor,” my maid, Lila, said softly as she brushed out my hair. “Should I braid it today? Luna Clara prefers—”“I didn’t,” I cut in gently. She froze behind me.I met her eyes in the mirror. “You can braid it how I preferred.”She blinked, then nodded. “Yes, Miss.”I was sitting by a tall window in the east wing overlooking the inner courtyard of Brandon’s pack house. The glass was cold against my shoulder. Morning light slid across the marble floor and stopped at my feet. Clara and Brandon still hadn't discussed anything of importance. They just met for sex. Loud, disgusting sex. He still hadn't figured out that the CCTV in his office had been hacked into and the clip of me being in his office had been wiped off either.Everything was going to plan, but I was still angry. They would all pay for what they did to me and my pack. I would make sure they never did this to anyone ever again.“Lila, who decided what happened in the pack apart from Alpha Brandon?” I tilted

Alpha Dante's POVI wanted her.The walls of my office felt closer than usual. I leaned back in my chair and stared at the ceiling, fingers curled into the armrest like it had personally offended me.I had a mate.Again.The door creaked open without a knock. Only one person in this pack did that and lived.Kye stepped in, closing the door behind him. The smile on his face faded the moment he looked at me.“Alpha, is everything okay?” he asked, slowly taking a cautious step closer. His shoulders squared, smile fully gone now, eyes sharpening on my face.I dragged a hand down my face. My palm came away warm. I hadn’t realized I’d been pressing that hard.“I have a mate.”The word sat between us.Kye blinked once. Then twice. And then his face split into a grin so wide it looked painful.“You’re joking.”I didn’t answer. His grin faltered. “Please tell me you’re serious.”I nodded once. For a second, he just stared at me. Then he burst into loud, happy laughter. He crossed the room in t

Taylor's POVI pressed my ears even tighter against the door of Brandon’s office. Nothing. The room was sealed tight, soundproof and dead to normal ears, but I bared my teeth and pushed past human limits. My wolf’s hearing sharpened, stretching until the faintest vibrations hummed against my skull. Pain bloomed behind my ears, but I didn’t pull away. I couldn’t miss this.“…But that doesn’t make any sense.”I froze. My fingers hovered inches from the wood.“Are you sure that’s what they said?” I heard Clara ask. The shock and fear in her voice made me smile.“The elders said someone authorized the reclaim of all the resources,” Brandon replied, agitated.I shifted my weight back, pressing myself closer to the wall. The stone was cold through the thin fabric of my sleeve.“And you think that was me?” Clara asked. There was a pause. Long enough that I could picture Brandon’s jaw tightening.“The order was authorized, Clara,” Brandon repeated. “With Alpha clearance. They didn’t just wake

Taylor's POV"Sorry, miss,” the guard said. “The pack can’t receive any visitors right now. We’re in mourning.”“But I really need to see the Alpha.”“You can’t come in,” the first guard repeated. He propped his hand on the iron. The sun hit the metal and threw a strip of light across his knuckles.“Who are you mourning?” I begged, keeping y hands where he could see them. The nose mask hid my face. I smirked in my mind as I remembered how defenseless and weak I must have looked now after I had the doctor wrap my head in thick, layered bandages, and an additional bandage covered the area around my right eye.He shifted. The other guard glanced at me and said, “Our Luna… she—” He stumbled over the name. “She died in a car accident on the way to her father’s pack yesterday.”My lungs decided to learn how to breathe again. Die. The word hung between us like smoke.I nodded and subtly removed the nose mask and turned back. “I just wanted to see the Alpha. I’ll come back later.”The guard d
