CHAPTER FOUR
Isabella's P.O.V I felt held by steady arms, and then I was carried to a place and was laid down. “How’s she doing?” I heard a voice, more majestic than I have ever heard in entire life. “She’s coming up Alpha.” Someone responded to him. “Make sure she wakes up.” The majestic voice said again. Where was I? I tried to open my eyes but my eye lids seemed stuck in place letting darkness consume me. Suddenly I saw myself in a church. Logan was saying the vows but the bride wasn’t me. “Noooo..” I screamed trying to separate them but my hands went through them. Logan looked so happy, his smile was more beautiful than I have ever seen as he moved forward to kiss the bride. Then the scene changed and I saw my father look at me with contempt in his eyes, he looked so disgusted and my mother behaved like I wasn’t there. “Daddy….” I whispered, I couldn’t believe the look I was seeing. “Take her away, I don’t won't have anything to do with such a useless daughter, she is of no use to me.” My father said without batting an eyelid, and then he turned and left. “Daddyyyyyyyyy.” I screamed. “She’s so pitiful.” “She is a disgrace of a daughter “ “Our packs will never accept such a weak Luna.” I heard voices all around me, mocking and blaming me with disgust. “No that’s not true.” I said. “Nooooooo…….” I sprang up from the bed but then pain shot through me and I was forced to lay back down. I was sweating buckets and shivering all over. “Miss, how do you feel? Are you okay?” A woman by my side questioned worriedly. I could see genuine concern in her eyes, it somehow gave me a sense of relaxation. “I’m sorry. I had a night mare .Apart from my back pain I feel okay.” I replied “Where is this place?” “This is the pack house, you were brought here yesterday by our alpha…….”She was saying but my mind was carried away and I remembered how I got here. I clenched my hands in anger, How could they? How dare they do this to me? They were supposed to be my closest relatives. “Oh no, Lyle go get me the dressing box, her drip has been disconnected.” I was brought back by the voice of the woman beside me. My hands were bleeding, probably due to the force I used to spring up earlier or the clenching of my hands right now. “Please release your hands miss, we need to fix the drip.” She said. The Lyle lady came in and handed the box to the woman. “Why did your Alpha save me?” I suddenly asked. I was sure I did not know who he was so why was he so kind? “Ma’am……..,” The woman seemed startled by my question, “That’s just how he is.” She replied anyways. “ That's how he is huh, ?” I smirked, I’ve learnt the hard way that there was nothing like a free lunch, even my parents raised me to bring them an alliance. Throughout the process I kept quiet, as my mind wondered around processing the recent happenings, I tried to think of what the alpha would want from me and before I was able to ask for their pack name, they had left. “Mama Luta, she looked so sad.” Lyle said as they moved around the corridor. “Poor child, ”Mama Luta said, ”She must have been through a lot.” Indeed I was a poor child; one no one wanted. In the quietness of the room, I indulged myself and my tears came gushing out like rivers. The pain of betrayal hit me so hard as I remembered my days with Logan. We were inseparable. My parents reaction was the worst, I wasn’t prepared at all. They showed no signs and I wasn’t even able to tell until they blew up. I cleaned my eyes and tried to think of what to do next, now wasn’t the time for crying. I wanted revenge and revenge I would get. I should not have been able to hear them but my alpha genes made it possible. I looked around for any form of weapon I could use to defend myself in case of anything, and I saw a syringe. It would not do much but I held it any way, I didn’t want to be caught off guard again. I looked outside through the window and the sky looked dull, it must already evening. It meant I have been here for a day. And no one came to look for me. I smiled sadly as I looked out the window. The betrayal from my family wasn’t something I was sure I could take. Throughout, Servants were attending to my every needs and were coming to check up on me every minute. It was like I was their queen or something. This made me more alert and I hoped the alpha wasn’t going to ask for more than I could give, I didn’t want to be mean to my life saver. While still thinking, I slept off. What could a pampered princess do? “Miss, Its time for dinner. The alpha requires you have dinner with him in the dinning room.” A voice I recognized as Lyle’s, the girl from earlier woke me up. “Okay let me freshen up. I’ll be there in a short while.” I said as I stood up. My wolf had healed me and I could walk now. However she stood there without moving an inch. She didn’t want to watch me freshen up did she? Were they that scared that I would run? My eyes turned cold and I faced her with a questioning gaze. My gaze seemed to have worked cause she excused herself and went out. I spotted the bathroom and went inside. After some minutes I came out and saw a dress laid on the bed. I smiled in mockery as I remembered the state of my once “happily ever after” wedding gown. Picking up the dress, I went to the dressing room. The dress suited me perfectly and I was surprised how he chose it or he probably sent someone to buy it, why do I care? Moving out of the room I found myself on a very long corridor. I walked for a while before realizing that I was lost. I shouldn’t have scared that lady off, now I was lost. I tried to locate my room but that seemed to worsen the situation and I just kept walking before I finally smelled the scent of food. My stomach growled in response and I blushed in embarrassment as the sound echoed in the hallway. I hadn’t eaten since yesterday. I traced the scent to the kitchen. “Miss, is there something you want?” A brown skinned lady in an apron asked me as soon as she noticed my presence. This attracted the attention of others and they all turned to look at me. “I wanted to go to the dining room but I lost my way.” I replied, flashing the best smile I could. I just hope they didn’t hear my stomach growl. “Oh, alright then let me take you there.” The lady volunteered and handed over what she was doing to someone else. I smiled at them and they bowed in response then we left. When we got there, she directed me to the table and pulled out a chair for me, she then served my plate and moved back when she was done. “Thank you.” I said, then she bowed and left. Now it was just me and the Alpha sitting at the table. I turned my head to look at him. He had almond eyes that seemed to hold a lot of secrets, his well curved eyebrows and his perfectly sculptured nose complemented his already handsome face. His appearance was the type fancied by a lot of girls but the smirk on his lips seemed to remind one that he wasn’t one to be toyed with. He cleared his throat to get my attention. I used my hand to feel the syringe I had hidden in my underwear, after getting the assurance I needed, I lifted my eyes to meet his, not wanting to show any weakness.CHAPTER 70Isabella's P.O.VThe last defense we had before us crumbled as the loud blast came again from without. The door was blown to bits, the furniture and sofas we'd piled up against the door were scattered in different directions, and those who would seek to harm me were free to come in. I stood quietly, too scared to even run for to run at this point I believed would be futile. I believed there was no way I would continue to evade the men and women who had organized for Mila. The door was down, but no one came in. I noticed that their attention was focused on a commotion behind them. I looked on, wearily trying to find the source of the commotion, and it was at that moment that I heard the cry. "Ethan!!! Alpha Ethan!!! The Alpha is back!"My heart launched into my throat immediately, and I looked at Edna hopefully, noting the small smile on the latter's mouth. "The Alpha is back." She said breathlessly. "Ethan has returned and on time, too."I returned my gaze to the crowd, and
CHAPTER 69Isabella's P.O.VStaying at the blood moon pack without Ethan was really becoming tiresome and frustrating. The days were long and the nights even longer, but the thing that bothered me the most was the bit about Mila and her supporters. In his absence, I began to realize that Ethan was really the glue that held the whole pack together. An unrest finally began to settle on the whole pack, and I kept hearing about protests that were mostly triggered at the pack house. To protect me, the pack guards were doubled at the Alpha's quarters where I lived, and my movements from the house to the gardens were restricted, and like a prisoner, I was required to remain indoors at all times while servants saw to my every need and want. Tricia would drop in now and then to check on me, but my companion was mostly Edna. The girl was never a dull companion, but I was just not okay with seeing the same face over and over again.I was at my wits' end with the isolation and imprisonment, and t
CHAPTER 68Ethan's P.O.VMy heart came to a standstill when I saw Brian collapse to the ground. The duel was over, and Mord stood victorious over Brian's bloody form as the crowd cheered and clapped. I could not afford to let them see my emotions, else they'll take it as a sign of weakness, so I remained emotionless with my face registering no expressions. Mila turned towards me, and I could see her happiness and pride oozing out of her devious sneer. Nathan's eyes met mine, and I could see the man's smug grin too. Clearly, Mila and Nathan had gotten what they wanted, and so did the cheering crowd. Just as I began to move out of my seat, I noticed something: Brian was twitching. My sharp and keen eyes caught this movement, but when I looked around at everyone else, it was evident that they missed this, as everyone else's attention was on Mord, the giant. I returned my gaze towards Brian, and I could see that he was moving slowly as if testing his limbs. It occurred to me suddenly th
CHAPTER 67Ethan's P.O.VThe time came at last. The time we were anxiously waiting for. Brian was calm and collected, giving away no sign that he was anxious or worried about the duel he had coming up against an unknown foe. The servant girl Maya had disappeared entirely, and we didn't see her before the appointed time. When it was time at last, the pack guards were sent again to escort us to the venue they called the arena. I walked beside Brian, carefully analyzing the man, and I could see that his body was carried calmly, giving away no anxiousness. My keen and high-end sense of hearing picked up his heartbeat beat and it wasn't rapid at all. His heartbeat was keen to that of a sleeping baby, and I was left in awe of my Beta. This was one of those moments where I was proud to have chosen Brian as my Beta.We were led to the arena that was built like a colosseum with raised seats where spectators would sit and witness an event below. We were marched to the center of the stage, where
CHAPTER 66Elena's P.O.VEver since my conversation with Logan that morning, I had been scared of being left alone in the same room with him, and I even began to look for excuses not to sleep in the same room with him either. To me, the man had become dangerous all of a sudden. His warm smiles and his romantic personality had vanished, leaving behind a vicious and cruel creature. My times, I've caught him staring at a small picture he kept in his coat, and whenever I come upon him, he would quickly put it out of sight. I was confused and puzzled about this strange behavior, and I simply wanted to dig deeper into what was going on with Logan, but the man had become unapproachable all of a sudden.I believed that the picture he carried was my key to learn what was really troubling him, so I began to think of ways in which I would get that picture. Had it not been for the days he and I were on good terms, that wouldn't have been an issue for me, but with the current fracas that ensued be
Chapter 65Ethan's P.O.VI stared hard at Mila in horror. It was then that it dawned on me that I had made a mistake in coming over here to Moon Shadow Pack, leaving Isabella home. Even though I left her with people to watch over her, I still felt like she was defenseless. Who knows how many of my guards Mila had bought now? She smiled cynically, rejoicing in my discomfort, and I almost lost my calm and attacked her there and then.I was distracted by the sound of the huge double doors opening. I turned and saw the cabinet members streaming into the hall with their Alpha taking the lead. Nathan walked with his hands behind his back and a satisfied grin on his face. The man wore a fancy blue suit over shiny black shoes to match, and I must admit that the man had a penchant and flair for the dramatic."Come now, Alpha Ethan. We must not tarry any longer." He said as he took his seat at the center of the table. Brian had made his way inside with the crowd and was sitting in the same spo
