CHAPTER 19: Salsa and Seduction

Even when Lola was supposed to be relaxing, her mind was never at rest. She was always thinking of a strategy or a new way to botch Ramón’s plans.

To Lola crippling the Cali Cartel from the inside was just as important as making Matías and Pedro pay for their crimes.

But for now she had to lay low, at least a week or more. So they can relax their guard against her.

Ramón knew she was playing games. Héctor was onto her. The only way to move forward was to keep them guessing, to make her next move so unexpected, so bold, they wouldn't see it coming.

On a cool evening, lounging on her usual spot by the pool side, Lola is lost in thought.

She had not made any moves in a while and Ramón had been ignoring her or absent most of the time.

She was getting antsy and the need to hurt her enemies sooner was overwhelming her.

“Earth to Lola!” Rosa shouted, waving right infront of Lola's face.

Lola almost jumped at her. When she realized herself, she removed

Lola knows exactly how to make herself very scarce when she needs to be. She hardly made time for Eliza or Rosa, just ate food and disappeared. After the Veracruz dance, she was practically no show. The villa was a three floors castle with more than thirty rooms and several secret passages. There were lots of places she could be lost in. She needed access to information, intelligence and secrets. She needed to hit Ramón’s business where it will really hurt him. And she had just the perfect plan. She found the processing lab hidden deep within the compound. It was a sterile area with busy workers where raw coca was turned into kilos of white powder. The air was thick and suffocating with the chemical tang of it. There were guards everywhere, but Lola, managed to slip in during a shift change, dressed in a lab coat and a surprisingly convincing look of a tired worker. No one questioned the new, pretty face in the lab. They just assumed she was another one of Ramón's... spicy proj

The villa's private shooting range usually smelled of gunpowder and oil. But today, it felt heavier, like suspicion was hanging in the air. Ramón was there, carefully cleaning his pistol with easy precise movements. He seemed calm, but his calmness made everyone else nervous.Lola was also at the range, casually shooting at targets that looked like cardboard cutouts of Pedro Gómez. She hit the bullseye every time, showing off her skills. A few of the men praised her asking how she got so good at shooting. She excitedly made small talks with them about going hunting with her dad. Ramón finally looked up, his green eyes sharp. The men quickly sensed his mood and without even an excuse to Lola gave them space. “Gómez knew exactly where to hit us,” he stated flatly, devoid of emotion. This wasn’t just a question but a clear accusation hanging in the air.Lola just shrugged, pretending to pick at her perfectly manicured nails. “Well, Halcón,” she began, drawing out the name like a

Lola felt a rush of victory. She quickly slipped into her room and found an inconspicuous spot for the keys. . Once she safely tucked them away, a smile curved up her lips. She had no idea Ramón knew she had taken them. He had let her. The whole interplay was a dance of power, where every step was a calculated risk. But she wasn't done playing. Not by a long shot. She had a plan, and it involved more than just a kiss. The next day, Lola found the opportunity she has been looking for. Ramón’s world was a complex maze of hidden passages and secret contacts. With a little patience she was slowly learning its twists and turns. Dressed in a simple, black tunic that made her blend easily into the shadows, Lola slipped away from the villa. She was heading to an abandoned church on the outskirts of the villa grounds. The church looked like something out of an old movie with crumbling stone and broken windows. Despite its worn out appearance, Lola knew it was a discreet meeting point

The morning after the midnight crow hunt, the villa was quiet. Infact, too quiet. However, Lola wasn't feeling quiet at all. Her mind was buzzing with a very dangerous new plan. She knew exactly where to find Ramón. And she knew exactly what she needed to do.But first she needed to grab some food, skipping breakfast was a no no, unless absolutely necessary. Eliza hadn't come up, so Lola went down to know what's up. She saw Rosa who greeted her cheerfully, giggling. “Good morning Lola, you look like you could finish a horse. Come join us for breakfast.”“Good morning Rosa, sure. You seem to know me well. Where is Eliza? I haven't seen her around and everywhere seems quiet.”Rosa pouted, “seems no one looks for me.”Her face really looked like Donalds duck and Lola couldn't help laughing. Rosa joined her too as they enter the kitchen. “You really look like a silly goose, you would be perfect for a telenovela.Fine, I miss you too but you are here and Eliza isn't.”Rosa starts maki

Ramón didn’t wait for a reply. He simply turned, and walked out of the courtyard in a deadly aura. Lola stood frozen for a second, then quickly followed him. There was no going back now. She had chosen to mingle her blood with his, to step into his war. She was now a partner, whether she liked it or not. And obviously partners went crow hunting at midnight.Héctor was already waiting, a few other heavily armed men flanking him. There was a different kind of energy in the air now, the chilling readiness of men about to go to battle.Ramón gave some quick orders in a low authoritative voice that sent shivers down Lola's spine. She watched him with a strange mix of fear and a new fascination. He was a terrifying force of nature. Seeing him in action, Lola realized he wasn't just a monster but a monster with strategy. They moved fast, exchanging the SUV for a more rugged unmarked truck. The truck soon roared to life, spitting gravel as it sped away from the villa. The scent of gun
