LOGINCHAPTER 5.
MADDY'S POINT OF VIEW. I shook my head. “No, "I said, refusing to believe her.” That's not possible. I'm pregnant. Nothing happened to my baby” “I’m very sorry, Mrs. Sinclair. You lost the baby on the night of your wedding anniversary after you overdosed again.” She announced. Her eyes swept over me, sizing me up.” I guess that was why your husband petitioned us losing a baby must have been a lot for him.” My breath came in shallow gasps as I stumbled back, collapsing to the floor. “I’m sorry for your loss,” her tone was soft. My hand instinctively went to my stomach, and a primal sob tore from my lungs. So loud that it startled them, forcing them to pause, hesitating before they tried to touch me again. He killed my baby, and now he’s framing me for being mentally ill. I tried to act strong in front of them and just leave with them, but I couldn’t help it. The betrayal twisted deep in my chest; I could barely breathe. My baby. I whimpered silently, holding onto my belly for dear life. “My baby. My baby. I’m sorry.” Mommy should have been careful. She should have trusted Daddy less. “I’m sorry, baby,” I continued to sob profusely. Why didn’t De-Shawn just kill me along with our pup? He should have just killed me and let me go at once. What’s the point of living right now? Dying would have been preferable. The only thing I always looked forward to was raising my own kids, and now he just killed my very first one. “Mrs. Sinclair… I’m sorry. I know what it feels like…” She attempted to take my hands, but I pulled away, shooting her a deadly glare. My wolf might be weak and hiding somewhere inside me, but handling one human, even in their state, wouldn’t be an issue for me. Slowly, I shifted my knees closer to my chest, hugging them tightly with trembling hands. Tears rolled down my cheeks, and my throat went dry. No noise, no sounds, they just let me sit there, reflecting on my life. They allowed me to mourn for the baby whose life had been brutally taken away. However, some hours later, I left with them. I wasn’t put in cuffs or anything; I was ushered into a health care van and driven to heaven knows where. I sat in the van and uttered no words to any of them, despite what they said. Their words of encouragement were totally useless. They believed De-Shawn was the victim here, but he wasn’t. They knew nothing about what had just happened, and even I, sitting there, still couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that my mate just killed our own pup. He could have just let me go with my baby... I started to sob again, tears streaming down seamlessly. All he had to do was let me go, and I would have. Killing our pup was heartless. I guess it all started to make sense why my wolf was nowhere to be found when I woke up. She must have sensed that our beautiful developing pup was gone. Our pup was no longer inside me. That explains why she’s mute. If only he had killed me altogether; I’d have been happier. At least I’d get to meet Mom. When we finally arrived at the health facility, I stepped down and was ushered inside. Slowly, I dragged my feet along with them, offering no resistance; I was too weak to pose any threat. They led me into a cold room where I settled onto a metal chair and placed my head on the table. Tears rolled down my cheeks, tracing a V-shaped curve across my face before pooling on the table. Those tears didn’t stop,no sounds, no sniffles, just my heart bleeding in pain. For the next several minutes, I sat in silence, saying nothing, while no one came in to see me. The last thing I would have imagined for my one-year anniversary was having my mate kill our pup and blame me for it. In this place, I couldn’t do anything. This wasn’t any pack territory; it was human territory. They had just one rogue pack here with no alpha…no rules or orders, just rogues being rogues. We had to follow the human lifestyle and their rules. Moments later, the door slid open, and I sat up slowly, my eyes narrowing lazily toward the entrance. It was Mrs. Kiesha—Mom’s attorney. She was also a full human who fell in love and married a werewolf, just like Mom. Her husband was a Delta in the Ashford pack, but their marriage had been very different from my mom's. Theirs was successful and loving,he was very supportive of her. She is one of the top attorneys in both the packs and the human world. She was so good at her job that everyone around the globe wanted her. Upon seeing her, I started to sob again, hot torrents of tears rolling down my cheeks. She knew me too well, she had watched me grow. She was one of Mom’s attorneys who had helped me navigate through Mom’s wealth and assets. As she walked inside, her eyes shimmered with pity. She approached me, giving me a warm hug followed by a kiss on the cheek. “I’m sorry, baby. This must be a lot for you,” she whispered softly. I nodded, my hands gripping hers on my shoulders as she caressed me. I didn’t want to cry, but I couldn’t stop this time. The tension in the room increased, and I held tightly to her hands, searching for any form of comfort I could find. Moments later, she let out a deep sigh and pulled some files from her bag. “Your husband is crying outside…” My gaze shifted to her immediately as she continued. “Did you do it?” I broke down once more. “I didn’t. He… he killed our pup, Auntie. He killed our pup.” My voice cracked as I clutched my stomach again. She grasped my hands in hers, nodding her head. “I believe you, maddy I do,I always have. But right now, we need proof. Over here, evidence is what wins, so we will need solid evidence to get you out of here and stop them…” “From putting you into rehab.” I gasped, looking up at her. “R-Rehab?…” She shook her head, staring at me with hurt-filled eyes. “Yes, rehab. The test results they showed me indicated that you had drugs in your system the night of your anniversary. That was what knocked you out and also killed your baby.” “I don’t know how that happened,” I told her. “I swear I have never taken any drugs in my entire life, Auntie. I haven’t tried it before. He drugged me…” I started to sob again. “He drugged me and killed our pup without my knowing.” “I will try my best, Maddy,” she assured me. “You know I always will, baby. I’ll see what I can do.” “But right now, I have no case, so…” Her eyes trailed to my face, and she swallowed hard. “So it’s rehab. I can just try to help cut down the years. Once you’re sober, you can come out. That would be easy since you’re not an addict.” Clenching my teeth, a tear slipped through. “Auntie, I don’t want to go to rehab. I don’t…please…a werewolf can't go to rehab.” “We have no choice, Maddy,” she cut me off. “That’s the only way we can do this. I’ll keep fighting and try to get you out in six months once you’re on probation and seem sober. Baby, trust me, you’ll be out.” Before I could say another word, the door slid open, and the same set of people who had come to the house walked in again. I swallowed hard, my hands shaking as I saw those familiar faces. “I’m not done with my client,” Mrs. Kiesha stood up. “I’m still talking with her.” The woman’s lips curved into a smirk as she placed a piece of paper in front of kiesha. “I’m sorry, Mrs. Kiesha, but there won’t be another hearing for this case as you pushed for. The judge has refused, finally closing the case and giving his verdict…” “Your client will be placed in conservatorship under her beloved husband, Mr. De-Shawn Sinclair. He will control all her bank accounts, credit cards, properties, and real estate under her name, as well as her business interests and how much she’s allowed to have. He will also control all her decisions, even after rehab, so she doesn’t kill their growing child again.” Her words felt like a slap to my face and I froze at once. Conservatorship under De-shawn?....I should have known it was my inheritance he was gunning for all these while. Next moment Keisha's hands trembled as she read the paper in front of her. That was all the confirmation I needed that it was the road for me. “I’m sorry, baby. It seems like Daddy won, and I won’t be able to make him pay for what he did “We will give you…” The man flicked his wrist, narrowing his gaze to his wristwatch. “Ten minutes. Ten minutes to round up with your client before you take over.” With that, they all left the room with a satisfactory smirk plastered across their faces. Once gone, Kiesha turned to me. She stepped forward, her gaze fixed on me. “They're trying to put you in rehab for six years instead of a few months.” “Please, don't let them,” I sobbed, leaning forward and grabbing her hand. “Please, I beg you, don’t let them do that to me.” She gulped, her eyes growing wet. She darted her gaze away, then the next second turned to me. “We need someone who can intervene for you. Someone powerful…” “…someone influential like your dad,” she added firmly. “He won't pick up,” I told her. “He doesn't pick up my calls. He never picked up my calls for the wedding.” “Then someone else, Maddy. Someone else. Just think! Just think! Think, think, Maddy; we have ten minutes or they'll take you,” she urged me. Only one name came to my mind. One name I shouldn't think of, one name I promised myself I wouldn't say with my lips, one name I convinced myself I'd forgotten, one name that should never cross my mind even under duress. But slowly, my lips parted, and the name rolled out… “Alpha Rowan.”CHAPTER 54MADDY'S POINT OF VIEW.My cheeks burned, and I narrowed my gaze out the window, pretending not to hear him.I stood back, my eyes now fixed on him while he leaned against the kitchen counter, the coffee mug still warm between his palms.Moments later, he was done and walked over to where he had dropped his suitcase. He picked it up, stretching it over to me. I raised an eyebrow, my first instinct to grab it from him.“What are you doing?”“You're following me to work,” he said, already heading outside, and I trailed immediately.“I’m not supposed to go to work with you. I'm not your PA or your worker; the deal doesn't entail going to work with you,” I protested, my legs moving fast just to catch up with him.“Well…” he suddenly paused, turning to face me, “take that as your first punishment for leaving your client unattended all night.”“When we get to work, I will think of what other punishment suits you in that dress…” His eyes shifted down to my body, and I instinctivel

CHAPTER 53MADDY'S POINT OF VIEW.I tried to pretend that I hadn't seen him, but his eyes bore holes into my body.“So Maddy, how is your friend?” Sloane asked, a hint of interest in her tone. “Dad said you went to see your friend.”I blinked a few times, confusion marring my features. But before I could respond, DeShawn's voice cut through.“Babe…” he called, and Sloane tilted her head, turning to him. “Come see this. I think you'd love it for our wedding.”Sloane flashed me a smile and hastened across the room to see what he had to show her on the phone about their wedding.I tried to look away and not look at them, but I just couldn’t help looking. The way he wrapped his hand around her shoulder while showing her what he wanted to show on the phone made my stomach twist—not just in pain but in exhaustion mixed with confusion. How is he planning his wedding with the Alpha's daughter and still frequents my house and calls my dad his father-in-law?I'm just tired of it all. I am also
CHAPTER 52.MADDY'S POINT OF VIEW.It's been more than twenty-four hours since De-shawn suggested that I go back to the rehabilitation center just so my dad's business could be restored. For the last twenty hours the house has been awkwardly silent. Dad didn't talk to me; well, I also didn't make it out of my room to talk to any of them. They choose to believe a man they had never seen rather than their own daughter.Dad and Clara made a choice, and now I’d be making mine. I will choose myself over and over again.I don't care whose business is collapsing; I'm not going back to that rehabilitation center.I'd rather die than let them take me back there when we both know I'm okay and nothing is wrong with me.I sat up on the bed, thinking of what De-shawn is playing at.It's beyond just trying to put me back in the human rehabilitation center. I am sure it's beyond that.Inside the Alpha's restroom we had agreed to mind the business that pays us both.I wouldn't talk about him or tell
CHAPTER 51.ROWAN'S POINT OF VIEW The morning sun streamed through the windows, its rays slipping across the floor.I stood in front of the window, my gaze narrowed outside, but the only person occupying my mind was Maddy.I slid my hand into my pocket and took out my phone. I checked it—no calls. It was past eleven in the morning, and there was still no sign of her.For a moment the idea that she might have escaped crossed my mind, but I pushed it away. She doesn’t seem to hate how I had stretched her pussy in the office, she wanted more, so I don’t think she has run away.I wanted to ask Adams to make a search and find her, but that would only spark more reactions and draw attention that I don’t want.Dominic, my childhood friend and also the Beta of the pack, already suspects that I have a liking for Maddy.Dominic has always been a case for my private and sexual life. He has always wanted me to get another partner since my wife died.We don’t need a lonely leader; get a woman, he
CHAPTER 50THIRD POINT OF VIEW.The atmosphere turned tense at once, the slow clink of cutlery against chipped ceramic plates the only sound. Maddy fixed her gaze on De-Shawn, her mouth still as wide as her eyes. She wanted to hear what he had to say and how it connected to her. “It has everything to do with her,” De-Shawn swallowed, shifting his gaze to Norman. “Remember what I showed you about her abuse of drugs?” Norman nodded slowly. Clara’s eyes snapped toward Maddy at once, shocked. Maddy’s heart sank deep into her stomach at the mention of drugs. What the hell did he tell her family? she wondered. She had nothing to do with drugs—he planted all of that, and now he was… “I told you I tried to put her in a human rehabilitation centre, but she escaped from it and came back to the pack.” “Actually, the big investor that pulled out of your company months ago was her.” Gasps rippled through the dining room. Clara’s fork finally slipped from her hand, clattering to her plate.
