CHAP 6: Declan's Decision

Fidelia was taken to the hospital and immediately treated by doctors. That drug made her body seem exhausted, no strength left. Declan looked at Fidelia's beautiful face, pale, her eyes closed, and her weak breathing painful.

After finishing his work, the doctor in charge of Fidelia's treatment quickly went out to meet Declan. She looked at him with unfriendly eyes. Light yellow curly hair and thick glasses make the female doctor more difficult.

"Hi, I'm Alice Hana. Are you free now?"

Declan politely replied, "Hi, I'm..."

He was about to introduce his name, but Alice raised her hand, signaling him to stop talking. She asked Declan coldly, "Keep your answers brief and to the point. Do you have time now?"

"Yes, I have." Declan didn't understand what was going on, but he answered politely.

"OK. Please follow me."

After Alice finished speaking, she turned and left. She led him to her office. Declan felt uneasy. Did Fidelia have a problem already?

"Please sit!" Alice sat down on the sofa across from Declan. Now that only the two of them were left, she pushed up her glasses and said in a severe and angry tone:

"I know that couples frequently do this to increase pleasure, but we strongly advise against abusing aphrodisiacs because it is dangerous. Did you know this drug has been banned from the market? Do you realize you nearly killed her? If she…"

Declan frowned, he had vaguely understood what Alice was saying, but she seemed to be misunderstanding a significant issue.

"Wait, wait." Declan hastily interrupted Alice, saying, "Can you hear me explain?"

"Of course. You say go."

"Thank you for listening." Declan calmly said: "I'm not the one to give her the medicine."

"Oh really?" Alice was surprised, but she still looked at him with suspicious eyes, entirely not believing what he said. "So you're not her lover?"

Hearing Alice's question, Declan was confused; he didn't know how to answer. He shrugged and said, "Not really. We…ah…um…But I really wasn't the one to give her that drug."

Declan attempted to explain. Alice nodded, a slight smile on her face as if she understood what he said.

"OK. I got it. That means the two are still in a Situationship relationship. Am I right?"

Declan raised his eyebrows elegantly; he didn't want to explain much, so he reluctantly nodded in affirmation. Actually, he and Fidelia weren't that close. He doesn't even know what to call this relationship. Then he quickly changed the subject. "So, you say this drug has been banned from the market. Why?"

"That's correct. Please wait a moment." Then Alice stood up and carefully removed a document from a locked cabinet. She then handed it to Declan and said:

"These are all documents that I have gathered about this drug. It's called Lady Era19. Its effects, as you know, are also a drug that can kill people. It is because this drug has caused many deaths that the government has banned it. But it is probably used illegally by many people."

Declan carefully read the literature on the drug. It was created by a capitalist organization for couples in love. Lady Era19 increases desire and pleasure in couples more than many other drugs. Sometime after this drug was marketed, it was prevalent and quickly became famous.

Many people, however, have overlooked the manufacturer's warning. Lady Era19 is not used for "one-night stand - ONS" relationships or something that doesn't have love but only sex, and the user is forced to drink, which is counterproductive. And anyone who drinks Lady Erra19 without doing it with their lover, but doing it with another person can be life-threatening. And if not treated in time, it will lead to death. Because of the high number of deaths caused by this drug, the government has imposed a ban.

Declan shivered at the thought of Fidelia. She almost died at their hands. He clenched his jaw to suppress his anger; he tried to stay calm to ask about Fidelia's current situation.

"Fidelia, is she safe now?"

Alice was tired; she leaned against the arm of the sofa to find some comfort; she said: "For the time being. Fortunately, you brought her here in time; if it was a little late, maybe… Because she overdosed on that medication, I had to give Fidelia a lot of antibiotics to get rid of all the drugs in her body, so her body was still tired. She'll most likely wake up in two days."

Declan gave Alice the document on the Lady Era19 drug, saying, "Thanks for saving Fidelia and letting me know about it."

"Nothing. I also just wanted to warn you about that." Alice paused for a moment, her eyes filled with sadness; she continued: "I don't want anyone else to lose their lives because of it. Because this drug took my sister, I couldn't save her."

"I'm sorry to hear about that." Declan comforts Alice.

Alice shrugged; she gave a smile that indicated she was OK; she said: "It's OK, I'm fine."

After that, Declan left Alice's clinic. At this point, he returned to Fidelia's room, looking at her so weakly. He felt that just touching Fidelia's body just a little would hurt her. Listening to every sound of Fidelia's heartbeat on the Monitor, he felt very familiar and highly uncomfortable. This is the second time he feels this way, but he can't figure out why he is like this. Fidelia's heartbeat calls to him, open your soul, accept this girl, love and protect her.

At this point, Leonard stood outside, waiting for Declan to finish handling everything. Seeing Leonard, he gently left the room.

"Leonard, are there any survivors?"

"One is left alive, sir. I didn't kill him, for I knew you would need him." Leonard answered succinctly. He is an effective bodyguard, having followed Declan for many years. So every time Declan goes, if it's a place that's not too dangerous, he won't bring many bodyguards; Leonard alone can defeat an entire squad.

"Good job, Leonard! Where did you keep him?" Declan asked.

"He's in the trunk of our car, sir." Leonard further explained: "Local police went to James's shop to investigate. They are taking his testimony."

"OK! Let's go!"

Later, Declan and Leonard drove the car to an abandoned building in town. He panicked when he removed his blindfold, his face pale when he saw them. His body trembled as he thought back to his comrades being killed by a single bullet through the head.

"Please… don't…kill me!" He started crying and begging Declan fervently.

Declan smirked; his eyes turned cold as ice; he snarled: "Let's see how your cooperative attitude is. Then I will decide whether you live or die."

Declan motioned to Leonard, beginning to interrogate him. Because he was afraid of death, he hastily confessed everything. In fact, he has only joined this gang for about two months, and their place of activity is Aryan AB Street. He only knew that the leader of his gang was nicknamed Black Snake. After his leader received the transaction from someone else, he and his companions would carry out the task.

Declan clenched his fists, his face turning scary. This street is like an underworld of gangsters. Not even the police could step foot in.

"Do you know the information of the man who did the transaction with Black Snake?" Declan narrowed his eyes, probing.

He shook his head, secretly looking at him as if he was hiding something. However, his reactions were all seen by Declan. His voice now carried a deadly tone: "If you don't want to say it, that's fine. Then die with it!"

As soon as Declan finished speaking, Leonard pointed the gun directly at his head, causing him to panic. He closed his eyes and shouted, "I speak, I speak. I heard the brothers say again that it was a man. He is wealthy. He paid our gang a huge amount of money; the only request was to kill that woman."

"Do you know why he wanted to kill her?" Declan inquired, looking at him without taking his eyes off him.

He gulped in fear and said hesitantly: "I heard from accomplices that because she used to kill people. She just got out of prison, threatening his family's life. Since there was no other way, he had to come to this place and ask Black Snake to solve it."

"In your group, has anyone seen that man's face?"

"No. No one saw his face. Even the face of Black Snake we have never seen. No matter who entered that neighborhood, they kept their identities hidden. The only one who knows is Black Snake. Because as far as I know, he only deals with people he knows." He hastily answered. He was so afraid that the sweat on his forehead was like rain; he was scared that if he answered a second late, his life would end.

"This is all I know. I swear to God."

"OK. Leonard handed him over to the police."

Hearing Declan speaks, he breathed a sigh of relief because he was able to save his life. He never wanted to go to the police station as he did now. Because he was afraid Declan would change his mind and kill him immediately.

After Declan returned to the hospital, he pondered over the man's words to the Black Snake. He knew everything the other man had said was a fabrication for Fidelia. To know exactly who he is and not endanger Fidelia, Declan can only go directly to Aryan AB to meet Black Snake. After all, what kind of relationship did that man and Fidelia ever have that he wanted to murder her so cruelly?

Declan pulled his phone from his breast pocket and dialed the number stored at the top of his contacts list. After only a few seconds, a low, hoarse voice came from the other side: "Declan, that's a surprise. The first time you took the initiative to call me like this! It looks like you're looking for me to have a very important job, doesn't it?"

Declan sneered; he said thoughtfully: "Yes! You know the man nicknamed Black Snake in the Aryan AB neighborhood?"

There was a silence between the two of them. After a while, the other person spoke up: "I know very well. What are you going to do?"

"I want to make an appointment with him. Can you arrange an appointment for me? No, I want to make a deal with him." Declan said bluntly.

"OH. Black Snake offers a very high price."

Hearing his friend's words, Declan said coldly: "Huh, are you looking down on me? For me, money is not an issue."

He laughed as if teasing Declan, "Ah, that's right. I forgot who you are. Sorry. Decide so. The location cannot be changed, and the price will be reported to you after agreeing with him."

Declan immediately agreed: "OK. Make the arrangements."
