CHAP 8: Declan's true identity.

Declan carefully wiped the tears from Fidelia's beautiful face. He looked at her passionately, wanting to kiss her sexy lips. It's like it's inviting him. Sweet happiness spread in his heart.

"Can I kiss you?"

Fidelia smiled shyly, her face suddenly red, but she took the initiative to kiss him. Taking this opportunity, he kissed her deeply. She felt her body gradually heat up; her mind was now wholly directed towards the man holding her tightly in his lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck and returned his sweet kiss.

Suddenly, a loud noise made Declan and Fidelia startle and simultaneously turn their eyes to the door. It was Alisa; she was staring at them with angry eyes. Immediately, she rushed towards Fidelia and was about to do something very ferocious, but Declan stopped her in time.

"Alisa," Declan shouted, "What are you going to do?"

Alisa glared at Fidelia, her face full of anger; she said sarcastically:

"You really are a dirty woman. Don't you have any shame?"

"Alisa, what the hell are you talking about?" Declan spoke up, annoyed.

Alisa looked up at Declan, her face red; she shoved his hand away from her and said harsh words.

"She is just taking advantage of you. Please stay sober. Don't you see her as a sinister woman? Huh?"

Declan closed his eyes, clenching his jaw, trying to suppress his rage as Alisa repeatedly insulted Fidelia.

"I don't see it," Declan answered without hesitation.

Alisa gave a scornful smile, "You really are too blind."

"You've only met me once; how do you know I'm a sinister woman?" Fidelia retorted to Alisa, which made her speechless.

Alisa angrily shouted: "I'm no stranger to poor people like you. You saw that my brother was rich so you decided to stick to my brother even though he had a fiancée."

"What? Alisa, what did you say? Fiancée?" Declan asked, surprised.

Alisa turned to Declan; she said in a steely voice: "Had you forgotten Emily? I accept only Emily. You're not allowed to marry anyone but her."

"Alisa, you are crazy. She passed away a long time ago. Don't be so stubborn, okay? I could not marry a dead woman. It's a thing of the past, can you please stop repeating it?" Declan shouted in anger.

Alisa looked at Fidelia with anger, looking at her like an enemy. She growled, "No matter what, I will never accept her."

"I don't need you to accept her." Declan let out a cold voice. He walked over to the door, opened it, and said, "Go home. Fidelia needs to rest."

While Declan wasn't paying attention, Alisa rushed over to Fidelia and strangled her. Because Fidelia's body was frail, there was no resistance. Alisa's sharp fingernails scratched at Fidelia's neck, causing her neck to bleed. At this point, Declan ran over and pulled Alisa out. He shouted, "Alisa, don't go crazy here. Follow me."

Fidelia sat up, her heart still pounding in her chest. She didn't understand why Alisa did that. Why would she force her brother to marry someone who is no longer alive? Alisa is a crazy woman. Looking at her attitude, Fidelia also knew how much she hated her.

At this time, James and some of Fidelia's colleagues visited her. Seeing that everyone was safe made her feel like she was getting rid of the guilt in her mind. She hugged Michael and said, "I'm so sorry! Is your health better? I'm sorry I hurt you."

"Better than ever. It's just a skin wound." Michael shrugged and smiled brightly, revealing white teeth accentuating his glossy black skin. That night, James had business in the city, so he asked Michael to stay at the store with Fidelia because he was afraid that the thugs would come to make trouble. Michael was seriously injured for standing up to protect Fidelia.

"Fidelia, how's your health?" Lucy spoke up. She sat down on the bed; looking at Fidelia's pale face made her even angrier. "It was right for those bastards to die."

"Right." Everyone present here spoke in unison, agreeing with Lucy's words. Fidelia laughs happily with the people she considers her second family.

It was only now that James approached her, his face contemplative and worried.

"Fidelia, do you know who did this?" When James asked, everyone became silent. Everyone's eyes were focused on Fidelia, waiting for her answer.

"A very suspicious vehicle followed you to the store." James continued speaking.

Fidelia pondered silently. She has never done anything to make herself more enemies since she was released from prison, except for Venn and Brenna. Fidelia was startled, suddenly realizing one thing, since meeting them again, she had been in danger. Maybe they had followed her from the hospital, and James had seen them. That was also why James warned her.

Fidelia clenched her fists to suppress the anger welling up in her heart. They were afraid that the infamous things they had done to her in the past would one day be exposed, so they tried everything to kill her. Even so, she couldn't tell anyone, not even Declan, because this was a personal enmity between her and them. And she didn't want the people she treasured to be in danger because of her.

She shook her head and forced a smile. She didn't want them to know too much because she would be in danger. It's best not to get James and her coworkers involved with those two insane people.

"I don't know." She tried to answer calmly to dismiss James' suspicions. "They're dead anyway. I don't want to talk about it anymore."

While Fidelia was chatting with everyone, Declan suddenly came in from outside. He paused, thinking he had entered the wrong room, but when he saw Fidelia, he was slightly surprised. And he saw that the man who had shot the leader the night before was also present.

Fidelia's friends stared at him, surprised when a gentleman entered the room. The clothes on his body are all branded, far from them. Instead, they and this elegant man were not on the same level.

Lucy was mesmerized by Declan's charming good looks; she exclaimed: "Fidelia, who is he to be so attractive?"

He slowly walked in, adjusted his vest, and introduced himself: "Hello, everyone, I'm Declan." He paused, glanced fondly at Fidelia, then continued: "I'm a friend of Fidelia. A special friend."

Fidelia heard him and lowered her head, hiding her smile. Suddenly Kenny exclaimed in surprise: "You…Are you Mr. Galbraith? One of the top ten billionaires with the most wealth in the world."

Everyone's faces showed confusion, not knowing how many of Kenny's words were correct.

"Kenny, did you mistake him for someone else?" Lucy asked suspiciously. Because she looked on social media, there were only articles about someone with the same name as Declan but no pictures.

Kenny noticed everyone's suspicious looks; he turned his gaze to Declan and asked again to be more certain

: "It's you. I can't see wrong because I got to see him come to the place where I used to live to do charity. I cannot forget it."

Fidelia frowned at him, the day she met him, she had guessed that he was a rich man, but she did not expect him to be such a famous billionaire. She lowered her head, stroked her hand, and felt self-conscious. If it was the previous day, Fidelia could confidently and bravely stand with Declan without any shame. But now, she is a person with an unclean background. Fidelia feared that she herself would damage Declan's reputation. Although she didn't know how long Declan's relationship with her would last, she didn't want her time together to cause him a lot of trouble. And one more thing, she had to avenge the grudge in her heart that had followed her for the past five years, she couldn't drag him into this.

Declan saw the strange expression on Fidelia's face as soon as she knew his true identity. Perhaps she is worried. It was true that he had no intention of hiding from her the fact that he was a wealthy man; he had not had a chance to tell her at all.

He looked at Fidelia and calmly confirmed: "Yes. Nice to meet you."

Declan took the initiative to shake hands to say hello, but everyone remained motionless. Maybe it's because they're still surprised when they meet celebrities in real life, not on television or social media.

Out of courtesy, James responded on behalf of his staff, who responded to his handshake. "Hi, I'm James, also a shop owner. They are all my employees."

Declan smiled politely; he said, "Thank you for saving me then."

"Oh, nothing. Nice to meet you."

Although Declan introduces him as just a friend of Fidelia, James also guesses that he and Fidelia have feelings for each other. James had been observing from the moment he walked in to gauge Declan's personality.

He looked at Fidelia and said meaningfully: "Fidelia, your friend is a good man."

Fidelia knows that James is a very sharp person; he has met many types of people, so he has too much life experience for himself. Over a year of working with James, she has learned many things from him. Especially James' eye for people has never been wrong.

Fidelia looked at Declan, their eyes meeting lovingly. She smiled and said:

"Thank you very much, James."

Declan's phone rang; he frowned at the number displayed on the screen, then he pressed silent mode and politely said:

"I beg to leave to go out for a while."

As soon as Declan stepped out the door, his expression changed. Axel called Declan. He figured maybe Alex was done with the Black Snake. After getting into his car, Declan picked up the phone, listening to Axel's call.

"I'm hearing."

"Declan, damn you! You despise me so much! Do you know how many phone calls I made to you?" Axel gets angry, shouting into the phone.

Declan sneered, looked out the window, and said provocatively: "Then why don't you wait for me to call you back? Don't you like it when I take the initiative to call you? It's that you don't have any self-respect."

"You really are a mouthful!"

Axel was angry but couldn't deny Declan's words. It seemed that he took the initiative to call Declan first had become a habit. He couldn't refute and didn't want Declan to make fun of him, so he went into the main story.

"Black snake has agreed to meet you. Since I told him that you are a rich man, he offered a rather high price."

Declan smirked scornfully, his face as cold as ice; he said briefly in a deadly tone: "How much did he bid for this deal?"

"5 million dollars. How do you feel? If you agree, the transaction will be at nine o'clock tonight."

"Okay. Simple."

Axel was unsurprised because he knew how Declan was. On the surface, he is a very calm billionaire, but in reality, Declan is also hazardous; he's only good with the people who really matter to him. Being friends with him is akin to playing with fire. Axel wondered, after all, who had touched Declan to the point where he spent such a large amount of money to hire the snobs in Aryan Street AB to work?

Declan has long since ceased to be involved in the underworld. So what is the real reason?
