Jack

We were called for an apparent emergency, but when we arrived, there was nothing. I cannot believe people joke about this; while we are coming here, we might be needed somewhere else. My annoyance only grows. I still haven't spoken to my angel; I am getting the damn cold shoulder just for wanting to protect her. I look for my phone thinking about calling her to see how everything is going, but I cannot find it. I hope I did not lose it.

"Jack, we have a problem." I looked at Nathan, who was holding his phone.

"What happened now? A fake cat stuck in an imaginary tree?" I sighed in anger.

"No, actually, it is a moon trapped in a school, with a fire and a wolf," he shakes his head as I erupt.

"She dared to escape! I asked her to stay in the house. Is she foolish?" I growled so loudly that my teammates took a step back.

"Calm down, Jack, Ryan is taking care of it." Nathan's amused tone had vanished.

"Let's go to the school," I say, already heading to the truck. "What are you waiting for? Move."

On the way there, I keep thinking about killing the bastard and handcuffing my angel so she never tries to put herself in danger again. Can she not see that I am worried? She has me now, and she continues to behave irresponsibly. The guys notice my anger, so the ride is quiet. I appreciate that because my mind is in turmoil; it was not a good idea to imagine her handcuffed.

"We are here." That pulls me out of my thoughts, making me get out of the truck and look for my mate. It takes me a while to find her among all these people, but I finally spot her.

As I approach with a fast and steady pace, my beta steps in my way, blocking my damn path.

"Wait for them to finish treating her, Jack." That is when I notice the injuries on her arms.

"Where is he?" I will kill the bastard for touching her.

"He got away, I do not know how he did it because I was right behind him." Perfect, he comes, starts a fire, attacks my mate, and leaves as if nothing happened.

"Tell me what happened." I feel Megan's gaze on me, but I do not turn to look at her yet.

"Your phone would not stop ringing. When I found it, I answered, and it was Megan. At first, I thought she was going to ask you out again, but then she mentioned she was at the school and he had shown up. In the middle of the conversation, she smelled smoke, let me know, and I asked her not to go outside. But she wanted to get the children out, and her ex appeared as a wolf. When I arrived, he had them trapped in a classroom. We started fighting, and she took the opportunity to get the kids out. When he saw her, I do not know how he did it, but he broke free. He jumped on her and tried to bite her, but I pulled him off. Shortly after, he fled. I ran after him, but I could not find him." So he wanted to mark her. This just keeps getting better.

"And the fire?"

"He just set the trash in the back on fire. With that, he distracted the staff and got in without a problem." There was no doubt about it, the bastard had it all planned out.

"We have to find him. He cannot get near her again."

"She got lucky this time, but she is very scared." If she had just stayed safe inside my house, this would not be happening right now.

I turn around and look at the woman who will put an end to my sanity at any moment. When the paramedics finish treating her, I walk over and see she is trying to speak, so I shake my head.

"Not here, angel." With that, I toss her over my shoulder as she lets out a loud scream. "I asked you to stay safe and you did not listen to me, so now I will not listen to you. This is not the time to talk. Not when I am on the verge of destroying everything." We reach the truck and I put her inside. Turning to look at the guys, I motion for them as well.

"Little Red Riding Hood, you provoked the big bad wolf, you are a very bad girl." My gaze snaps to Michael.

"Shut your damn mouth, idiot," I growl, and I see Megan breathing heavily.

I am in no mood to put up with his games, in fact, not at all. I just want to find the bastard and make him regret every damn thing he has done. We spend the rest of the ride in silence. But when we get to the apartment building, I see her get out and try to sneak away, but I grab her arm. We have things to talk about.

"You are not escaping, I still have a lot to say to you." I turned to my beta. "Ryan, you are in charge."

I led us to my car and put her inside again, just like I had done at the school. On the way to my house, neither of us says a word. I feel like everything inside me is about to explode; on top of that, she is hurt. I grip the steering wheel so tightly I feel like I am going to break it. When we arrive, she looks out the window, refusing to move.

"Let's go inside. This is only the beginning, angel."

APRIL"April, what is wrong?" It was the third time Summer had asked me without getting an answer. "Come on, trust me, I do not like seeing you like this.""We need to get Mr. Patterson's bulldog ready, he will be by to pick him up in 20 minutes. Can you check that everything is in perfect condition?""Sure, April, I will do it right away." She sighs, annoyed, but I will not say anything to her."Thanks..." I could not help but replay the conversation with my father over and over in my head.Around noon, I see Ryan walk through the door. We had agreed to have lunch together, but with everything going on, I had forgotten."Bunny." Just that makes me relax. Taking me by the waist, he leaned in to place a kiss on my lips. "I hope you are ready to get out of here." I simply wrapped my arms around his shoulders and hugged him.I needed a hug so much today."So my mother was not wrong, and you really are a slut?" That voice, one I had loved so much over the years, and now it only makes me f

MeganI do not think I have ever seen anyone as upset as Jack is right now.On the way to his house, he did not say a single word. I guess his head was full of things, while I did not say anything because I was too scared to open my mouth. When we walked into his house, things did not change much. His body was giving off a sort of "do not come near me" signal, and God knows I was not going to."What were you thinking? I only asked you to stay inside." Even though he did not yell, his tone made me feel so small."I wanted to be responsible...""Do not lie to me, angel, and do not lie to yourself. What you wanted was to prove that you are not weak. You thought, I will go to school and show everyone they are exaggerating. Well, breaking news, you were wrong, and you exposed everyone in a ridiculous way.""I know I made a mistake, but I really did not think he would dare. The school was full.""The building I pulled you out of was too, and that did not stop him from setting it on fire. Yo

Megan"Children, continue with your work, I will be right back." I walk out of the classroom with a calmness that I clearly lack. I approach the door to Susan's classroom and knock until she comes out."What is wrong? You are pale and you look scared." Her look is worried. Do I really look that bad?"He is here. My God, Susan, I should have listened to Jack. Do not tell him I said that, but I cannot believe he actually dared to come. What are we going to do now?""I will go find Jeremy, you call Jack." What? No..."Um... no. We can solve this. I am not suicidal enough to tell him I sneaked out. Susan, I am sure he hasn't even noticed yet.""Do not start right now," she looks at me, annoyed. "Call him, this is serious, Meg." And with that she leaves, surely to look for Jeremy.I look through the door's window at the calm children, oblivious to the lunatic nearby. I cannot be so selfish and not protect them. Sighing, I take out my phone and prepare for a battle I have already lost. I he

MeganTelling Susan that I would stay with Jack was not as easy as I thought, especially with her making a scene. The good thing was Jeremy's presence and the fact that Jack promised he would not let anything happen to me. But that was a walk in the park compared to the conversation I am having right now with Jack."You cannot tell me not to go to work, that is crazy. Do you understand that it is my responsibility?""Now is not the time, angel, you do not understand things. Here at home you will be safe, there is no need for you to expose yourself like that." My eyes narrow and my patience reaches its limit."If this is how it is going to be, I am leaving. Not just to work, I am leaving this place. You do not own me, Jack. I have been working non-stop for two years, I cannot just leave everything hanging, do you understand? Besides, Susan and Jeremy will be there, they will not leave me alone, nothing will happen to me.""You are not going, angel, and that is my final word." Damn poss

MeganI see him before me, and he looks devastated. Perhaps I am being selfish; it cannot be easy to tell someone you are a wolf. I am a damn selfish witch!"What you said does not bother me. I was surprised that you were a wolf, but I am scared of what you might do to me." His expression is uncertain, and I know that is my fault."I would never do anything to you, angel. To hurt you would be to hurt myself. Since I discovered you were my mate, I have done nothing but protect you. After what happened yesterday, I have no intention of letting you out of my sight, even if you do not want me around." He lowers himself, sitting against the wall just like me. "I will not be like your ex-boyfriend. I intend to protect you from him.""When you asked me if I believed in the supernatural, well, I thought you had already figured it out. I mean, I never imagined you would tell me you were one yourself. I knew you were hiding something from me, but I thought of many different things." I was so wr
