That morning, Arabella woke up earlier than usual. She stepped into the kitchen with a newfound determination, something she hadn’t felt in months. The crisp morning air flowed in through the window, while the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the room.

She took a few ingredients from the fridge—eggs, bread, and a few slices of smoked beef. With practiced ease, her hands started preparing a simple breakfast. It didn’t take long before a plate of omelet, toast, and a steaming cup of coffee were neatly arranged on the dining table.

When Harry entered the kitchen in his wheelchair, he froze at the sight. Usually, the chef prepared his meals, but this time, it was Arabella who had done it.

Arabella had already asked the chef for permission to prepare breakfast for Harry.

“You cooked?” Harry asked, his tone carrying a hint of surprise.

Arabella shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant. “I just felt like doing something useful this morning. If you don’t like it, I can—”

“Are you sure you don’t want to eat first?” Harry’s voice sounded worried as Arabella took off her shoes at the door. She had just returned from her father's house, and her face looked more exhausted than usual.“Not hungry,” Arabella replied briefly, placing her bag on the table. Her eyes were blank. There was a wound that hadn’t healed, and Harry could feel it.In his wheelchair, he followed her to the kitchen and handed her a cup of warm tea. “Lavender. They say it helps you relax.”Arabella accepted the cup but didn’t drink it right away. “I really don’t get it, Harry. They can still sleep peacefully in that house, as if nothing ever happened. When Dad almost died because of someone’s doing.”Harry sat across from her, his eyes observing Arabella as she started rubbing her temples. “Helena is still in denial?”“She even hugged Dad. As if she’s the most devoted daughter in the world. I’m sick of it.” Arabella placed the teacup on the table, her tone rising. “I’m sure she planned so

“We’re here, Dad.”Arabella’s voice was calm but distant as the driver parked the car in the driveway of Edwin’s house.Helena quickly got out of the back seat and opened the door for their father. “Come on, Dad. Take it slow.”Edwin gave a faint nod, his eyes sweeping across the yard he hadn’t seen in a long time since he was hospitalized. His body still looked frail, but a thin smile tugged at his lips. From behind the door, Luna—his second wife—rushed out to greet him. “Edwin… you’re finally home.”She hadn’t come to the hospital because she’d been busy cooking to welcome him back.Arabella pulled the wheelchair out of the trunk and wheeled it toward her father. “Please sit, Dad.” Her voice was flat. She didn’t even glance at Helena.Helena grabbed the small bag of medicine and said, “I’ll bring this inside.”Without responding, Arabella pushed the wheelchair into the house, her gaze fixed ahead. In the living room, silence hung in the air like held breath.“You don’t have to come

In the quiet corner of the mansion’s backyard garden—where lavender bloomed in thick, fragrant clusters and the breeze stirred the leaves with a lazy grace—two figures stood near an old tea table. Mr. Hans sat in silence, eyes trained on the steam rising from his porcelain teacup. Opposite him stood Jimmy, hands behind his back, his expression alert yet amiable.“So, how did she react?” Mr. Hans asked, not looking away from his tea.Jimmy inhaled slowly. “Just as you predicted, Sir. The potion had a strong effect on Lady Arabella. According to Dr. Tania… she kissed Master Harry. Multiple times.”Mr. Hans raised an eyebrow, a brief smirk twitching at the corners of his lips. “Good. Progress, at last.”“But,” Jimmy added cautiously, “Master Harry appeared… unaffected by Lady Arabella. He was too composed. Too aware.”Mr. Hans took a slow sip of his tea.“They’re both stubborn,” he muttered. “Even after all my preparations, they still act like two magnets turned the wrong way—refusing to

Harry’s body broke out in a cold sweat. His mind screamed to resist—but his heart... his heart was locked in a fierce argument with reason.Arabella’s kiss started hesitant, even trembling. But when Harry didn’t pull away—when he stood frozen, eyes half-closed—her confidence surged. Her tongue brushed his lips, seeking an answer. After all, Harry was a grown man with desires. Damn it. He couldn’t resist Arabella. He kissed her back—slowly, then more assuredly. His left hand rose to the back of her head, fingers slipping into the waves of her long, silky hair. What started as a gentle kiss quickly deepened. Their breaths tangled, racing against their pounding hearts.“Arabella...” Harry murmured between rushed breaths. He was losing control.“Hmm?” Arabella’s response was a half-dazed hum, drunk on sensation and emotion. She was truly savoring their intimacy.“I’m a grown man... and if you keep this up...” Harry held his breath, trying to stop the rising tide of emotion threatening his

Arabella and Harry arrived at the mansion just as night fell. The garden lights glowed softly, bathing the lawn in a golden hue. As Arabella stepped out of the car, the butler was already waiting by the door, bowing respectfully.Without a word, Arabella headed straight to her room to freshen up before dinner. In the dining room, the table was set to perfection. Warm soup, tender steak, and fresh salad—all laid out flawlessly. Though still a bit awkward, Arabella took her seat across from Harry. The atmosphere felt different that evening—quieter, less tense than usual.Hans Anderson’s presence somewhat lightened the mood.“Eat a lot. You look completely worn out,” Harry said, scooping soup into his bowl.Arabella paused, slightly surprised by his words. Had this cold-hearted man just... shown her concern?A small smile tugged at her lips. Such a simple gesture, and yet it warmed her heart.“Thank you,” she replied shyly.Harry glanced at her. There was something different about her to

Arabella stepped into the boutique with hesitant steps. Behind the counter, Carla—the stern and no-nonsense supervisor—locked eyes with her, her gaze sharp as a blade. The calm atmosphere in the boutique suddenly turned cold.“Arabella,” Carla’s voice was flat, yet heavy with pressure. “Come with me. Now.”Without a word, Arabella followed Carla into a small room at the back of the boutique. Once the door closed, Carla crossed her arms in front of her chest.“Do you even know how many times you’ve skipped work this week?” Carla asked sharply.Arabella lowered her gaze. “I... I know, Ms. Carla. I’m sorry. My father—”“I don’t want to hear excuses,” Carla cut her off coldly. “This isn’t the kind of job you can just walk in and out of whenever you please. You think this is some kind of hobby?”Arabella bit her lip. Deep down, she wanted to explain that her father was still in the hospital, and her mother was completely unreliable. But she knew Carla wouldn’t care.“I'm giving you one last

“I’m just working part-time, Grandpa. At an old friend’s place,” Arabella said, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. They were still standing in the hospital lobby after visiting Edwin, who was still lying weakly on the hospital bed.Hans raised an eyebrow. “Part-time? Where at?”Arabella offered a faint smile. “A small boutique. Belongs to a friend from school. I’m just helping out. Not every day. Just… to pass the time.”Hans nodded slowly. There was no suspicion in his eyes. “I thought you’d be more drawn to social work or education, with how you treat people. But a boutique’s nice too. A world of color and creativity, huh? Why don’t you open one of your own?”“Oh, I haven’t really thought about that, Grandpa Hans. But… that’s actually a good idea,” Arabella replied quickly, though guilt was already weighing heavy on her chest. She deliberately didn’t mention that she was actually working full-time there—designing window displays, handling sales records, even cleaning the

Arabella stood still at the doorway, her eyes fixed on the large bed in front of her. The night felt unusually warm, and a nervous, awkward tension lingered in the air. After living under the same roof with Harry for quite some time, tonight was different—they were going to sleep in the same bed.Harry, freshly changed into his sleepwear, sat on the edge of the bed, watching Arabella hesitate by the door.“Why aren’t you sitting down? Come on, let’s sleep,” he said, gesturing casually toward the bed.Arabella ran her fingers through her hair, clearly trying to avoid the situation. “I... I can sleep on the couch,” she blurted out, hoping to escape the awkward tension between them.Harry raised an eyebrow, confused, then chuckled lightly. “The couch? Suit yourself,” he replied nonchalantly, before lying down on the soft bed.Inwardly, though, Harry was cursing under his breath at Arabella’s distant attitude.“Sleep wherever you want. I don’t care,” he grumbled to himself.Arabella arche

Arabella returned to Harry’s house, fury pulsing through her veins. Yes, she was livid—at Helena. She was convinced Helena was behind the spiked wine that left their father hospitalized and unconscious. But… could Helena really be that heartless? Maybe it had something to do with the inheritance. The more she thought about it, the more disgusted Arabella became. Why do people do anything—everything—for the sake of inheritance? Her father. Her stepmother. Now even her sister? And Harry? They’re all the same. With a huff and a stomp, the raven-haired girl stepped out of the taxi and made her way toward the grand mansion—her husband’s home in name only. Her gaze landed on the carport.A soft sigh escaped her lips. “Thank God Grandpa Hans didn’t show up.”Hans had canceled his visit last minute due to a business meeting. She wasn’t in the mood to stay in Harry’s room, faking the part of a loving wife.As she was thinking about Harry’s grandfather, she spotted Mrs. Mia in the yard, directi
