When I got to the study, there he was, sitting behind his desk, sipping tea, with a stack of papers and documents in front of him, writing notes in his big notebook that was laid down flat on the top of the stack.

"How do I deserve this?" I asked desperately, setting my emotions free, stopping myself from running into his arms. Absence indeed had made my heart grow fonder. Ethan looked up at me with soulful eyes and a look that I remember from when he had taken me from the hospital.

He stood up slowly, and walked even slower over to where I stood at the door. By the time he stood directly in front of me so that I had to look up at his tall frame to see his face, I was panting from exhaustion.

"How have you been, little one?" The Rogue King asked kindly, and I felt a sudden and inexplicable urge to slap him hard across the face. I was his prisoner, not his love interest, so why was he looking down at my lips like that. I backed away from him.
