Chapter 82

Author: River Fish
So, upon further consideration, Phoebe wondered if Connor really wanted a divorce.

It seemed that he had only used it as a threat to scare Phoebe. His actions showed no real intent. Cruelly, he might have never even considered divorce, instead relishing the way he could torment her with it and manipulate her emotions and attention.

At the end of the day, there was nothing wrong with not loving someone. What was wrong was hurting them.

Yesterday, at Horizon Dining, Connor immediately retaliated against Alexandra because he couldn't stand seeing Vanessa suffer even the smallest of grievances. He had used his actions to love and protect the woman he cherished.

At the time, Phoebe had even asked herself what it felt like to watch the man she'd once loved with all her heart treat

For example, if Connor wanted to get back together with Phoebe, he could change his approach and start pursuing her properly. It would be a fresh start for them.Since she didn't have anyone else in her heart, things could go south for Gideon…Gideon had planned to wait patiently for her to fall in love with him. But with the situation having changed, he needed to take the initiative.Fortunately, Philip's birthday was coming up soon, and even Leona was coming to Seavale.Gideon continued applying the ointment to Phoebe's wrists as he casually asked, "Did Connor see you kiss me in the car?"She kept her head down. "Yeah. That's what set him off.""Do you think the fallout is too much? Will you still dare to play along with me and provoke him again?"Phoebe said, "It's not a situation of someone getting to win just because they throw the bigger tantrum. People adapt fast. Tonight hit Connor hard because it was the first time; blowing up like that is normal. The more times it happ

The thought that Phoebe might have a private connection with her role model made Dahlia burn with jealousy. Phoebe had promised her that if she behaved, she would get to meet Sun.The temptation was huge, but Dahlia couldn't stomach being manipulated by someone she looked down on. So, she decided to investigate on her own. However, she had turned up nothing, which was why she'd come to Connor for help. She put on her sweetest voice and asked, "Can you help me out, Connor?"Connor wasn't nearly as obsessed with Sun as Dahlia was, but things were different if Phoebe knew her. He said, "Fine. I'll look into it.""You're the best!"Dahlia eagerly started applying the ointment for him.He stared at his wrists. The fact that Phoebe knew a top-tier racer suddenly explained why she drove so well. He was starting to realize that he didn't know her at all…The discovery left him feeling restless, but Dahlia's unexpected request gave him something else to focus on, calming him down a littl

Connor looked up and warned, "Don't tell Grandpa about this."Dahlia didn't get it. "Why not?""Just don't!"She rarely got the cold shoulder from him, so it only annoyed her more. "What's really going on between you and Gideon?""Don't ask questions you shouldn't."Dahlia shot to her feet. "Did Phoebe actually divorce you?"Connor didn't want to talk anymore, especially since he couldn't stand hearing the word "divorce" right now. From his reaction, Dahlia knew that it was true. She was dumbstruck, and she sank back down on the couch, looking stunned. It took her a few moments to wrap her head around it. She asked, "How could Phoebe actually go through with it?"Connor's expression grew darker. Dahlia noticed this and swallowed the sarcastic remarks she'd been about to make. Instead, she asked, "Why didn't you tell any of us about something this significant?"Connor felt like a swarm of mosquitoes was buzzing in his ears. With as much patience as he could muster, he said, "Ke

Before leaving, Phoebe glanced at Connor. When it came to a real fight, she couldn't take him on physically. She could only fire back with words that barely scratched the surface.Fortunately, Gideon was there. The sheer advantage of his strength was obvious, and for once, Connor had actually suffered a bit.The fury in Connor's eyes no longer affected her. She turned and walked away without another look back. When she stepped into the courtyard, she unexpectedly spotted Dahlia lurking far off in the shadows.Dahlia knew the villa's passcode. She feared no one, except Gideon. Phoebe figured that Dahlia must've had bad luck running into him and had probably opened the door for him, which explained how he'd gotten in.The moment Dahlia saw Phoebe, she hurried over. She had tried calling Connor earlier but had gotten no answer, so she'd driven over to confront him. However, she'd arrived practically at the same time as Gideon. The heavens only knew how shocked and panicked she'd been

Soon, Connor realized that Gideon had gone easy on him last time. Now, the belt lashed across his skin, leaving his arm numb. The pain froze him in place for a split second. That brief hesitation was all it took. Gideon whipped the belt back the other way, striking the exact same spot. This time, it wasn't just numbness that coursed through Connor. He felt like his arm was about to snap.He let out a stifled grunt.Gideon was dead set on teaching him a lesson. His fingers clamped onto Connor's arm with terrifying strength, wrenching it behind his back as he drove a knee into his spine.Connor collapsed onto the couch. Gideon wrapped the belt around his wrist, then yanked the other arm back and bound it tightly as well.Throughout it all, Connor thrashed wildly, slamming into the coffee table with a loud crash.Laura, who had been hiding in her room, couldn't take it anymore. She rushed out, her face pale with worry and fear, thinking that Connor and Phoebe were fighting.Instead

This was Connor's house. The sight of Gideon there was something Phoebe had never anticipated, leaving her utterly stunned. He wore just the dress shirt from the dinner earlier. He usually kept every button fastened, but now, the top two were undone. It gave him a slightly less polished edge than his typical refined demeanor, yet it only amplified the intimidating chill he carried. Phoebe couldn't even bring herself to meet his eyes.Gideon saw the tears on her face. This was probably the first time he had ever seen her like this. His hands balled into fists by his sides, and he swept a cold gaze over her. Then, he locked eyes with Connor behind her, his gaze turning as sharp as blades. He was furious.Phoebe didn't dare say a single word. Only Connor could withstand the kind of pressure Gideon radiated.Connor's expression was just as cold and menacing. He already knew how Gideon felt about Phoebe, so seeing Gideon here didn't even surprise him.Since childhood, Gideon had alway
