“Bullsh*t! Be quiet!" he barked. Verity stumbled as Alpha Maurius's foot connected with her side, but she refused to yield.

Despite the pain radiating through her body, she pressed on, determined to prove her worth. He spat out the words with venom, his eyes blazing with anger. She stood before him, unflinching, her own eyes cold and unyielding.

"And what of it?" she replied, her voice steady and calm. The tension between them was palpable—a thick cloud of animosity hung heavily in the air. Verity's voice boomed with frustration as she addressed the group before her.

"Are you all fools?" she exclaimed, incredulous at the situation unfolding before her.

"Do you not desire for Nero to witness my agony and demise at your hands?" she hissed, her eyes glinting with malice.
