It was late into the night when Kaden returned home.

As he opened the door, Kaden clung to the hope that Seraphina had only stepped out for a walk and would be back soon.

It was quiet in the residence. Usually, Seraphina would be reading or painting in the living room. However, there was no presence in sight.

"Sera?" he called out to Seraphina, but silence answered him.

Furrowing his brows, Kaden took off his coat and went upstairs to the bedroom. For all he knew, she could be asleep.

The bedroom door swung open to a bare room. The sheets were pristine as if the bed had never been slept in.

A heavy, unsettling feeling rose within him.

Kaden took quick paces to the closet and opened the door. All of Seraphina's clothes, shoes, and bags were missing.

With his heart beating out of his chest, Kaden dashed to the bathroom, the study, the art studio, and every spot she frequented. All her belongings were gone as if she had never existed.
