I stared at Tara in the dress that made her look like a saint, pure light against the darkness of the night.

A round white hat with a black ribbon at the base of it, a white dress with a layered wide skirt, tiny black ribbons running round the hems.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” I barked, walking onto the driveway, and she turned around, her dotting eyes the tell-tale sign that madness had seized her again.

Unlike in the past, there were no symptoms of this episode. Still, I should have known.

She balanced her tiny purse around the crook of her elbow, over the elbow-length black gloves she had on, and looking at her, I thought she looked more in style at a horse racing.

Perhaps that is where she spent the day.

“I came to see how you’re doing.” She said gently, and if I didn’t know her, I would have been fooled.

I would have been provoked into doing something as foolish as attacking her. And if I made such a mistake, she would become a real thorn in Olivia’s flesh.

“Are you going to punish me for this, Olivia?” Colt sat defeated on the bed, watching me pack my bag after I told him I couldn’t stay here with him. “I’m not punishing you. I just need to be out of this house.” I was near the door when he said, “I never wanted this, I never wanted any of this.”I spun around then, my eyes furious. “Do you know how difficult it has been for me since this whole nightmare began?” I yelled, “You are about to have a baby, Colt. You are about to have a baby with your ex.”“That’s not my child.” He stood up, his face red and angry.“Doesn’t matter whether you acknowledge it or not. That’s your child.” I hurried out the door, deciding not to kiss Morvian before leaving. I couldn’t let him see me in this state. At the office, I had barely taken a seat when Maya walked in with her computer after barely knocking. She placed the computer in front of me, and my eyes fell on the headlines. I cursed, my head falling into my hands.Tara had just announced her pr

OLIVIA“Is something wrong?” I glanced back at Colt, who had gone completely silent. He was staring at his phone like it was a living thing. A living thing that had offended him.I got off the bed immediately, wondering if it was Louise or worse, a message about the Gyehna. “What is it?” I asked, searching his eyes. He shook his head, typing quickly on his phone and then slipping it in his pocket. I frowned then, taking one step back. He wasn’t about to start all these secret dealings, was he?I had just opened my lips to speak when commotion from downstairs reached our ears. I hurried to the window to peek out as Colt said. “Olivia.”Pushing the drapes back, I frowned at the sight of Tara at the entrance, but my frown turned to a gasp when I saw the masked men holding a gun to her head. “Colt.” “Look away, baby.” He walked towards the window to pull me away, but I jumped back. “Look away? Morvian is here. I cannot have murders happen in the house he lives in. He could even be awa

With Morvian’s critical state, every second counted. The surgeons scheduled me for the stem cell harvesting, as they tried to start conditioning regimen for Morvian.Just before the skin prep began, I asked to see Olivia, and the nurse was gracious enough to let me out. However, I was surprised to see support equipment like the oxygen masks were gone, replaced by just a small tube, and she was actually awake.“Olivia?”Sean, also in the ward, turned to me, and I smiled at his surprise as I walked towards Olivia. He had bid me goodbye, and thought I would be in the surgery theater already.Olivia stared at me with a strange look, and for a second I feared she may have lost her memory. She raised her arms then, and whispered my name. I almost fell right into her, reminding myself just at the last second to be careful. She hugged my neck tightly, and I realized that Sean had taken away the thing I dreaded the most. She must have questioned him about my absence when she woke up, and he

The night was a blur, the blood bank was functional again, and Morvian received even more blood transfusion as his ward began to look real festive, troops of medical staff moving in and out.I sat outside his ward because I was too lightheaded at this point to stand. The thought of having to break the news to Olivia if this poor kid died while she was still unconscious, made my head swim and breathing difficult. “Is there really nothing that can be done for him?” Axel asked from behind, and I was again reminded he was still there. I turned to him with a sad look, he really should go home at this point. He’d been here since last night. “He needs a bone marrow transplant. And Olivia is not a match,” I said with a heavy sigh. “And she doesn’t have even a tiny clue we can search for his real father with?” He hissed in frustration, “What about her father, the drunk?”“The French bitch said he doesn’t know either.” I responded, thinking how I really never wanted to see that monster, or

I turned my gaze away, feeling all kinds of conflicting emotions. The top emotion was ‘good riddance’, he seemed to have taken my warning and moved on.But then I was furious. Because had Olivia just been another potential lay in his eyes? He looked at other women the way he did her, and his interest was so shallow if he could move on to another woman the next day, literally.I grimaced, disgusted, and that was when Koffi’s voice caught my ears. “He should resume work next Monday.”“And are you sure he has access to the nanosync?” Levine’s voice, with that Scottish schoolboy accent, returned.“Of course.” Koffi’s voice lowered, and he muttered something quietly that I didn’t hear.I was about to turn my attention back to the couple downstairs when I heard, “That should do it. As soon as the launch is done, we can move our shares. This is a bloody sinking ship,” Washington said. I pulled my phone out and started to record, just in case this turned out to be important.“As long as we

  • Biker-in-law's Death Kiss   Surprises at the ball

I took time explaining why it was important I was at this ball, but Axel disagreed, saying it was pointless.“Ok. Let’s say it turns out to be pointless. What harm could come from it though?” “You, fucking falling in a faint,” he smacked his thigh, eyes burning bright in an incredulous look.I looked away. I’d try not to do that because there was still so much to be done. Despite realizing Luiza was being manipulative, there was some truth to what she said. The company was important to Olivia, especially with Morvian here now. So I had Chris bring in a tuxedo, and got dressed for the ball right in my ward.“What if the Gyehna attacks you?” Axel tried one last argument as he watched me get ready. I shrugged.“He’s not after me,” I carefully fixed my cufflinks. “And as long as the dogs stay here, no one can harm Olivia.”“So you’ll be out with just your aesthetic guards?” Axel’s voice was grave disbelief, and I turned to him.“They did fine in Budapest.” I moved my hand up to strai
