17- Night's Temptation

In the middle of the night, Annalise was sleeping peacefully, the sound of calming rain filling her mind after a tiresome day, helping her relax.

But, breaking her lull, her phone rang as a call came from Vincent.

Groaning, she was worried for a second by the abrupt call, “Vincent?”

Yawning, she saw time, bewildered to think what made him call her at this hour.

With a gulp, Vincent’s trembling voice came, clearly breathless and dejected, “Annalise.”

Rubbing her temples, she sat up slowly, tone still groggy, “Are you crying?”

He chuckled sadly, he had tears in his eyes but he wiped them, “No. Why? It’s just rain.”

“What happened? Why are you in the rain then? You will catch a cold.” She asked, becoming stressed by this sudden call in the middle of night and strange words.

“Can- Can I stay for the night at your place?” He asked hesitantly, praying she wouldn't say no but she was not sure about it.

“What?”

Taking a deep breath, he blurted out, “I am outside your place.”

“Wait, what?!”
