Chapter 23

Alexa

The door opened in a long brightly lit tunnel, Ben and Liam were behind us now. They jogged up to us, their coats making a great deal of noise in the narrow space. I asked Ben was up.

“To ensure a sterile environment,” he said.

“How helpful,” I retorted. I knew the entire fuss was to maintain a sterile environment and also to prevent any theft from taking place.

Finally we got to a thick slab of metal door that didn't have any keypads or handles. Liam bent down and tapped some places on the door that would have been random. I didn't know it was intentional. A part of the door, just above where the normal hinges usually were, caved in. He heaved the door backwards and let us in.

The room was several degrees colder than it was supposed to be in Utah this time of the year. I rubbed my arms across my sleeves but the nylon on my clothes didn't allow for heat transfer.
