Chapter 7

Killian's POV

I stepped out of my car as George held the door open for me. The sun had already set and the stars filled the night sky. We were in my private garage as I was about to head up to the penthouse. I nodded my head towards him and made my way to my back elevator. I pressed the top floor and the doors closed. Once they opened, I walked into the penthouse and put my briefcase on the counter. I sighed as I could feel his presence in my living room. I removed my suit jacket as I walked back to the front.

" What are you doing in my home Blaine? " I rounded the corner and set it down on the couch. He tsked.

" How the hell do you do that without even seeing me? "

" Because the presence of your soul annoys mine to the fullest extent possible. So much that I can sense when you're around "

" Ouch! I'm sure someone might've found that offensive. " I looked up to see him smirking as he sipped the glass scotch he had placed in his hand.

I walked over to the couch and sat across from him. I poured myself glass as well and took a sip. I leaned back as Blaine kept his eyes trained on me.

" Can I help you with something? " I asked after a few seconds.

" Anything new going on... pal? " I rolled my eyes. He always used the word 'pal' or 'old friend' when he was 'on to me' as he liked to put it.

" Not that I'm aware of "

" Benjamin was right. You do seem distracted "

" By what? Once again, Ben thinks he knows everything and proceeds to tell others that he does " I jumped slightly as I heard his voice behind me.

" Well I know almost everything about you sir. You should know that information by now " He walked over to my suit jacket and picked it up, resting it neatly on his arm.

" This sudden disturbance in your regular behavior wouldn't have to do with a certain someone now would it? " Blaine asked raising an eyebrow as Benjamin tilted his head to the side. I rolled my eyes again.

" Why would you think that? "

" The other day you spoke to a young lady on the phone I assume. The name Brielle should ring a bell. " Benjamin started.

" I was also informed that you've had a few encounters with her at a local library and applications for the personal assistant job offer you put out a few days ago were delivered at her doorstep. She also has a little one she takes care of am I correct? " I folded my hands together as I eyed him carefully.

" Where did you get this information? "

He responded curtly. " I have my sources "

" And I'm pretty sure your 'source' is none other than George "

" He is one of my best companions "

" Without you even knowing Kiki, I'm pretty sure that woman has you wrapped around her little finger. Isn't she like what, 5ft? " He smirked and I poured myself another cup of scotch.

" You both can go to hell "

" Before we do, I need a little help from you. " Blaine said getting serious and Benjamin walked out of the room.

" What seems to be the problem? "

" I'm getting contracts from different companies who want me to either take over or offer services. I need you to check to see if they have a bad history with trading stocks or rate of success. If they don't then your people would need to reinstate all of the inventory supply so we'll be in full control. " I processed this information for a bit. Blaine is the owner of Porter Industries and he owns many multinational retailing corporations. He started off by owning just a few small companies and now he owns corporations as large as Target. He give me the responsibility of managing his company stocks.

Every few months or so he finds companies who are going down hill, buys them for a few million/billion, fixes their entire enterprise (with my help of course), earn double what he spent in a year and adds it to the list of his associations.

" What is the estimate range of profit? " I asked.

" 8 figures and in less than two years if they are successful, it estimates around 9 maybe even 10 "

" Any companies overseas "

" Less than half "

" And I would be accompanying you to go overseas and attend different meetings? "

" That is the plan yes " I nodded my head.

" Come by the office next week. From there we'll discuss the days of travel or meetings. "

He nodded his head and smirked. " Who's going to answer when I call? Anna or Brielle? " I rolled my eyes.

" Piss off "

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

I set the phone down on the receiver as I continued to read the contracts. I had many meetings scheduled today so I needed to have everything in order. Brielle should be here soon as her shift starts at eight and its 7:55. Just as I was about to stand and make my way to the next room the door opened. I looked up and my breath hitched as Brielle scurried into the office with my coffee in one hand, her new laptop in the other and her bag on her shoulder. The fact that she came in like a crazy little bunny didn't affect me at all. It's the fact that she came in with a dress which made her look extremely ravishing, that had me choking on my spit. The dress was mauve and hugged her body in all of the right places. She was nowhere near bony. The little sweater and skirt she wore yesterday showed off nothing of her beautifully formed figure.

" G-good morning " She stuttered cutely. Her hair flowed down her back and she had on a different pair of ankle boots with a bit of heel.

" H-here's your coffee Mr. Russel. I-I also set up the laptop and iPad like you asked sir " She sat the coffee down and I again had to look away as she bit her lip and made eye contact with me. This girl has no idea what she does to me with that damn lip bite and her newly found curvy little body.

" Thank you Ms. Newman.. As you know, we have plenty of meetings arranged for today correct? " I asked raising my eyebrow. She nodded her head.

" Y-yes sir "

" I left a few things on your desk that pertain to the meetings. So why don't you go get settled so you can come back and we'll get started " She nodded and turned towards her door and walked into her office. I kept my eyes trained on her for a bit through the glass before shaking my head and returning to reading. After about five minutes, she walked out her office with all of her things and stood by my desk. I stood up and smirked in my head as I decided to tease her a little bit.

" Your outfit looks rather alluring today Ms. Newman " She blushed and looked down.

" S-sorry. My other boss bought a few things for me and she told me to wear them " I stepped closer and brushed a piece of her hair behind her ear. I could see her start to blush, so much it reached the tips of her ears.

" Trust me Brielle.... You have nothing to be sorry about. " We stared into eachothers eyes for a second before she looked away. I pulled my hand down and cleared my throat.

" Shall we Ms. Newman? " She didn't say anything. She just nodded her head as if she was at a loss for words. We walked out of my office and into the meeting room. I showed her to a seat that was right by mine and explained to her the directions.

" You are to bring all of the clients water and coffee if anyone asks. For every meeting, all of the equipment such as the projector or computer will need to be set up and each seat needs a pen and a fresh notepad. If you need help I'm assuming you still have the earpiece from yesterday so just call Anna in. For now, I set everything up already so you don't have to worry " She nodded and set her things in front of her seat. The intercom buzzed and Anna spoke.

" Sir, the executives of Sonata Industries are here for their 9 o'clock appointment. "

I pressed the button " Send them up "

After a minute or so the door opened and the men came piling in. They all noticed Brielle and I could see a few of them do a double take. Once they were all settled I cleared my throat.

" Alright gentlemen, I'd like for us to get started as quickly as possible.... And if you didn't already notice I have a new personal assistant, Brielle Newman " She lifted her head from her tablet and blushed as she saw everyone's focus was on her. She waved shyly and I could hear a few chuckles around the room and a few of them smirked.

" Anyway tell me about this month's issues or resolutions... " As I spoke, Brielle got up and left the room. After a minute she came back with a pitcher of water that had ice.

" We're working on doubling last month's profit. " One of the higher ups said and I nodded. Brielle walked around the room and poured water for each person. As she did I couldn't help but notice everyone's eyes were drawn to her. I tapped my hand on the desk as someone else spoke and a discussion sprunge between two other people. Yet my focus was on the many men who had their eyes on Brielle.

" Brielle, sweetheart? " She lifted her head and everyone looked away from her.

" Yes sir "

" Can you get me a coffee from the breakroom? Thank you darling " She nodded and set the water in the middle of the table before walking to the door. When she exited and closed the door, my head snapped to the men who looked frightened.

" Gentlemen.. Listen closely. Eyes... up here " I said making a gesture towards my eyes and they all nodded their heads quickly. Brielle walked into the room and sat my coffee in front of me. I nodded my head at her and she took a seat.

" Well, let's begin shall we? "

⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯

" And what the hell do you think that will accomplish huh!? " I yelled as I stood up and directed my anger towards the man.

" W-well sir i-it was just a s-suggesti- " I cut him off.

" Fuck you and your suggestion! I need answers " He was about to speak when I point to the door.

" Get out. You can wait for your fellow co-workers in the waiting room " He got up quickly and ran out of the room. All day I've been here listening to these imbeciles speak and it's getting tiring. We've been through 7 meetings so far and Brielle had to get me coffee TWICE for each one. While I'm here screaming my ass off, she is sitting beside me quiet as a mouse acting as if she moved one muscle I'd yell at her too. She was easily frightened I could see and whenever I needed to speak with her, I made sure to lower my voice and attitude.

" Anymore bright fucking ideas people? " I sat back down in frustration. Nobody said a word. I was about to speak when a dainty little hand appeared in my peripheral vision.

" C-can I say something? " Her small voice rang in the room and everyone including myself turned their attention towards her. She put her hand down and brushed her hair out of her face.

" I-It looks like all they have is a little department and placing issue. " I gave her my full undivided attention,

" ... Explain " She opened her iPad, which automatically connected to the projector.

She pulled up the company overview " Over the last two months the productivity rate hasn't been regular. If anything, it slowed down. Reason being many people have been promoted to higher statuses and are disregarding the workload that has been left behind and needs to be taken care of. Instead of gloating about the new position they received, maybe they should be considering the amount instability that needs to be dealt with within the system... J-just a t-thought " She said as she put her hands in her lap as she finished. Again it was silent. I turned my head to the men.

" Well you heard the woman. When I see you in the next three months all problems will be resolved correct? "

They nodded their heads quickly. I waved them away.

" Alright, out of my building " They all stood up and scurried to the door. I checked my watch and it read 6:22 PM. I looked up at Brielle who was walking around the room and tidying up. I stood and she froze as she watched me approach her slowly.

" I'll have someone take it from here Brielle. I'm sure George is already outside waiting for you. Tomorrow if there is not much to be done you are scheduled to leave early. I wouldn't want to deprive you too much of your alone time. " She smiled shyly.

" Thank you sir. I'll see you tomorrow. " I smirked.

" Until then " She turned around and walked out of the room. Even with her being gone not even for two seconds, she already has my brain clouded with the thought of her.

Brielle's POV

After finding out yesterday that everyone in the world including Madam A knew who Killian was, I was beyond flabbergasted. Mr. Burkley knew who Killian was the second he walked into the library but didn't have the audacity to let me know that the man who makes me blush every 5 seconds would be my future boss! I was also surprised to know that Delilah knew exactly who George was since she saw Killian get out of his car to talk to her.

It's like everyone but me knows exactly what going on. I was so furious with Mr. Burkley that I chased him all around the apartment with Delilah's bunny slipper. He didn't get far, poor old man. I had him screaming in the corner as I hit him with it. I had finally stopped when Madam A walked in my apartment and handed me different bags of clothes for my new job that she already knew i was going to get! I wanted to hit her with the slipper too but.. I didn't want to get hit myself.

I was packing my things as I was getting ready to leave the building. Today was very hectic and Killian was a lot more intimidating than he usually is. I was hoping he wasn't like this everyday because if he was, I don't think I could survive.

I walked out of the build and waved to the guards at the door who's names I learned were Tyler and Jason. They waved back at me and I smiled as I reached George's car. He opened the door for me and I got in. As he pulled off I watched the city go by as I got lost in my thoughts.

In all honesty I was afraid of what would happen if I were to see my sister or parents. The thought shakes me so much to the point where it makes me want to throw up. I have the constant thought of my sister possibly coming back and taking my precious baby away from me. Even though I have full custody, I can't help but wonder what would happen if she did want Delilah back. Not that she ever had her to begin with. The only person I could really go to about this was my brother but he hasn't contacted me in the last nine months.

He was two years older than me and left to go to the army after he graduated high school. It broke my heart when he told me he was leaving. At sixteen I had more of a connection to him than I had to my parents or sister. He's been in the army for five years now and he never once returned home. He knew I was taking care of Delilah and he knew how much I was struggling. Even though he was only able to contact me at the most, twice a month, I was happy enough that I was still connected with one of my family members. I can only pray that he's ok because it wasn't like him at all to not contact me for this long and leave me worrying. I was brought out of my thoughts as I felt George's hand on my shoulder. I didn't even notice that I was already home or that I was silently crying.

" Everything alright miss? " He asked looking very concerned. I wiped my eyes and smiled lightly.

" I'm fine George. Thank you " I took his hand and stepped out as he grabbed my things from my hands and from the seat and eyed me carefully.

" I know from past experience that when a lady says she's fine Ms. Newman, she is NOT fine. If anything, hell is about to break loose. " I rolled my eyes at him as I laughed.

" I'm ok George, really. It's nothing a little cuddling with my baby and ice cream can't fix. " He walked me into my complex and up to my door.

He handed me my things " Well, if you need anything you can always call me. Or Mr. Russel. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to help you in a time of need. " I blushed again and nodded my head.

" Ok.. Thanks George. "
