"Alexander, what did you think you were doing by dragging our family name through the mud like that?"
Victoria Blackwood scolded her son. She had just heard the news of the engagement. First off, she was angry that Alexander didn't even bother to tell her that he was getting married. Talk more about introducing the girl to her. Now she had just found out that the girl was not from a poor family, but her father was a criminal who tried to kill his wife.
"Why would you choose a girl from a poor home, when there are so many high-profile families we could pick from. So many successful women who could fit in the role to be your wife and my daughter-in-law. Not that girl whose family has fallen from the upper echelons."
Alexander stayed silent as his mother spoke. He was used to her tantrums. She always liked to complain and never made sense to Alexander. When Alexander's grandad had given him the option of getting married to keep his inheritance, his mother complained of how six months was too short to find a wife, but guess what? Alexander had found a wife, and she was complaining of his choice.
"For someone who married my father, who came from nothing, you sure know how to look down at people."
Victoria had been caught off guard, but still had to defend herself.
"Your father was different."
"Mum, he was a gardener."
"Well, his heart was pure, and he intended to love me devotedly."
She seemed to have made a point.
"Well, I've made my decision, and there's nothing you or anyone else can do about it."
Victoria fumes with anger.
"Son, can't you see she's a gold digger. I'm trying to protect you from these leeches. She'll do nothing but try to take from our fortune."
Alexander wanted to tell her that it was just a contract of one year to mellow down her worries, but knowing his mother. It would get out of control. So he kept quiet and let her think whatever she wanted to think.
"Mum, I've got a meeting with some new investors I have to meet up with."
Alexander had gotten his way out of his mother's web.

Victoria was not going to give up. She wasn't the type to give up, so she had already orchestrated a plan. She called up Anita, Alexander's ex-girlfriend. She appeared at the cafe. From the window, Victoria could see her pull up from her power bike and majestically walk into the shop. Victoria thought to herself. Why couldn't her son pick her up instead?
"Look at her, beautiful, elegant, and from an extremely wealthy home just like ours. Alexander could have easily chosen her as a wife."
As Anita sat on the table, her black wavy hair was all over the place.
"You look stunning."
Victoria complimented her
"Well, thank you, ma'am. So why did you call me up? You said it was an emergency."
Anita asked Victoria
"Yes, Alexander is getting married, and I don't know if you've heard the news?"
Anita looked shocked and a little disappointed as she spoke
"I didn't know since when-"
"The engagement was low-key, as the girl he's marrying is from a low place."
"Oh"
Anita said disappointedly. Victoria held her hand as she whispered to her.
"Don't worry, there's something we can do about it because I'll never let my son marry a girl like that."
Victoria looked at her and smirked.

Alexander had just rounded up a meeting, and he was relaxing in his office. He had a lot on his plate. From the countless meetings to his wedding. He needed Marcus to help him out. As soon as he picked up his phone to call Marcus, he heard a knock on his door, which was uncommon. Anyone who wanted to see him called his secretary first.
"I don't do too well with knocks, so if you want to come in, come in."
To his surprise, it was Anita; she slid her head in, then her whole body as she catwalked inside. She looked ravishing, short body hugging red dress, a pair of black heels, and of course, that hair, her wavy black hair that went well with her model-like features. She looked like she had come on a mission, Alexander thought.
"Hey Alex, long time no see."
Alexander eyed her as he loosened his necktie further
"Indeed, why do I have the pleasure of seeing you today?"
"Pleasure is common."
She walked towards where Alex was seated and tried to kiss him, but he dodged and stood up.
"Anita, you're better than this. I know who put you up to this."
"Alex, why her?"
The question was familiar; everyone kept asking him, Why her? But how could he explain it when he didn't understand it?
"So you heard about the engagement?"
"Who hasn't? I heard it's a girl that's not even your type."
"What's my type?”
“It's standing right in front of you.”
Alexander smirks, walks up to her, and clears the table. He carries Anita and places her on the table. He spreads his legs and rips off the red dress she has on. Burying his face in her breast. Anita lets out a loud moan.
“Ahhh, yes, keep going.”
She uses her hand to unbuckle his belt as he rips off her bra completely. Anita wraps her legs behind his waist and moans even louder.
“Xander, yes, please put in. ”
She screams helplessly. Just then, Sophia walks in.
“ahhhh”
Anita screams
“Don't you have manners. Can't you knock?”
Alexander scolds Sophia.
***********
It was the day of the wedding, and Alexander made sure that the press, paparazzi, and media personnel were around to capture the moment. He needed everything for this wedding to fly everywhere. The hall was decorated in white, and everything screamed luxury from the designs to the guests. Alexander wanted it to be the most talked-about wedding. He made sure he got the most exclusive designer wedding dress for Sophia.
The moment she walked into the church, all eyes were on her. The whispers began to fly, her dress alone cost a fortune. It shimmered and glittered. Studded with real diamonds, Sophia looked like luxury and class.
Victoria had a spiteful look at the corner, but she could not do anything about it. Alexander, on the other hand, was stunned by how beautiful she looked. Her veil couldn't even hide how amazing she looked. Sophia felt as nervous as ever; she felt like it was a mistake. As soon as the priest asked them to say their vows, everything became more real to Sophia. "Am I making a mistake?" She thought to herself
"I, Alexander Blackwood, take Sophia as my lawfully wedded wife, I do."
He took Sophia's hand and put the ring on her finger. Sophia stared into his eyes and felt the strength to do it. Alexander made her feel safe at that moment; it made sense.
"
I do."
Sophia muttered as she put the ring on his finger.
"Alexander, what did you think you were doing by dragging our family name through the mud like that?"Victoria Blackwood scolded her son. She had just heard the news of the engagement. "Umm, I don't understand."Sophia protests softly "Don't worry about it, you'll understand."Alexander tells her calmly but with a hidden intention. Sophia turns to scan the room and look at where she is, and she is very impressed with the decor of his office, although she feels like some flowers would make the place a little bit brighter and beautiful. "I know you're wondering what you're doing here, you're wondering why I called you? But wonder no more because I want to bring you an offer that will take away your problems."Marcus hands her the document. Sophia quickly goes through it. But she does not speak. "You look a little confused. I'll have Marcus spell it out for you. Marcus, please do the honours." "Yes, sir. So, Miss Sophia Carter, Mr Alexander Blackwood is proposing a marriage contract between the two of you. In exchange for getting married to him, you, Miss Sophia Carter, will get a total of 2 million dollars." Sophia looks confused and disgusted. "What is th
Alexander is seated at his desk, going through some paperwork, when flashes of last night's gala pass through his memory. He remembers the lady he saved. "So-sophia"He struggles to remember her name. Her face looks so pure. Her innocence is too real, and her body is to die for. He couldn't concentrate. She was perfect. Her image would fit perfectly as his Mrs. He seems to be sure that she would fit his image properly. His grandfather would be more than pleased with her. Just then, his assistant walks in and stands in front of him. "Good morning, Marcus.""Good morning, sir.""So what were you able to find?""Well, something interesting that will make the contract between you and her very easy.""Okay, what is that?"Marcus walks in front of him and hands him a file. He flips through it, and his eyebrows go up. "Interesting, this will make everything fast and speedy for both parties".Alexander closes the file and hands it over to Marcus. He picks up a call and calls his secretary
Alexander shut her out immediately. He was too busy talking to business partners and potential investors for his company, which was his major purpose for attending the gala. He didn't believe in the act of charity; to him, it was a waste of money, but these things needed to be done so that he could show off his company. A company that he was about to lose the majority shares he owned if he didn't get married. Dressed in a glazing black tuxedo, with the perfect designer watch to match. Alexander Blackwood looked like money because he is money, but what he looked like was a businessman who placed business before everything and anything. He was not known for showing his emotions because he believed that it was perceived as weakness. He always kept a cold stare and made sure that business was business. The only person he trusted was his assistant Marcus, who was always at Alexander's beck and call. As he climbed down the podium from giving the welcome speech at the charity gala, he was
"I know that you're doing your job, but please, I need more time, please, I'll come up with the money, please."Sophia pleaded with the doctors who had just told her that if she didn't provide the money for her mother's treatment, they would unplug her from life support. They stood in front of Sophia, dressed in their scrubs, looked very serious, and handed her the bill before leaving."This is your last warning. If you can't clear your debt by next week, we'll have to disconnect her."Immediately they entered they left. Sophia Carter stood in front of her mother, holding her hand and looking at her unconscious body that was perfectly tucked into her bed. She whispered her mother's name. “Emil” Her mother looked more like she was dead than alive, with the pain of what her dad had done, she was heartbroken. Looking at her beautiful mother in this state made her hate her father even more. Sophia was about to lose the only thing that mattered to her, all because of her father. Just t
