Chapter 39: Jealousy

Nolan's POV.

“What else?”

I focused on looking at the computer screen while listening to Martin report on the operations of other branches. However, he still lingered here without leaving. This was not his usual working style, proving that he still had something difficult to say but would not say it until I gave permission.

Martin adjusted his glasses then clasped his hands behind his back, “Sir, today is Miss Kristen's birthday. The Watson family has invited you to attend the party tonight. Would you like to participate?

“Does she have any plans tonight?” I didn't stop my work but unconsciously asked.

“Hah?” Martin was stunned for a few seconds, which also made me realize I had just asked something strange.

The last question I asked myself was more accurate. I opened a file to compare it with the data on the screen and then slowly answered, “Okay. Tell them I'll be there tonight. Anyway, I shouldn't be too harsh on Kristen just because of her family problems."
