NINE – IN HIS TRAP (II)

I'm exhausted.

After successfully shipping off the Blue Jade to a buyer in Sweden, Vanessa and I parted ways. Of course with the promise that I will tell her everything that happened with Mason last night, and in detail.

Thankfully, she agreed to keep Anna with her for the rest of the night. Anna might notice my mood and begin asking questions.

Crisis averted – for the moment.

I get into bed and pull the covers over my head. Just for tonight, I want to have a good night's rest. Tomorrow, all my problems will come barging in, but tonight, I just want to sleep and forget.

I shut my eyes and drift off.

Icy gray eyes haunt and chase me all the way to the other side.

I jerk awake.

I'm not sure what I heard, but I most definitely heard something.

The soft light of dawn filters through the tiny room window, casting the small space in a gloomy glow.

I'm about to fall back to bed when I notice the open door.

Funny, but I'm one hundred percent sure I shut that door a few hours ago. A
