"Where is your ring?" His voice cut through the air, a sharp inquiry that seemed to carry more weight than the question itself. The room, with its muted tones and elegant decor, became a silent witness to the unfolding tension.

She instinctively moved her hand to the back, a reflexive attempt to shield herself from the intensity of his gaze. How had he noticed she wasn't wearing their engagement ring?
