Chapter 4

Scarlett’s POV

The next morning, I woke up early and got ready. I put on my best clothes and headed to Damian's office. As I walked into the office, I couldn't help but feel nervous. This was the renowned Damian company, and Mr. Damian himself had called me. The thought of meeting such a successful billionaire was overwhelming. I tried my best to compose myself as I entered the room. I was greeted by his secretary, who led me to his office.

As Scarlett walked into Damian's office, she couldn't help but feel nervous. This was the renowned Damian company, and Mr. Damian himself had called her. The thought of meeting such a successful billionaire was overwhelming. She tried her best to compose herself as she entered the room. She was greeted by his secretary, who led her to his office.

Damian was sitting behind his desk, and he looked up when Scarlett walked in. "Scarlett, please have a seat," he said, gesturing to the chair in front of his desk.

Scarlett sat down nervously, wondering what he was going to say. He looked at her for a moment before speaking. "Scarlett, I heard about your sister's situation, and I wanted to help. I've decided to fund her treatment, and I'll take care of all the expenses."

Scarlett couldn't believe it. She was so overwhelmed with gratitude that tears started to well up in her eyes. "Thank you so much, Damian. You have no idea how much this means to me and my family. I don't know how to thank you enough," she said, her voice shaking with emotion.

But even as Damian made this generous offer, Scarlett couldn't shake the feeling that there was something cold and ruthless about him. She couldn't help but wonder what he expected in return for his kindness. Damian was known for being a shrewd businessman who never did anything without an ulterior motive.

Sure enough, after a moment of silence, Damian spoke again. "There is one thing I would like in return, Scarlett," he muttered.

Scarlett listened as Damian made his offer, a generous one at that, but she couldn't help but feel that there was something about him. As much as she appreciated his offer, she couldn't shake the feeling that he was hiding something. Damian had always been known for his shrewd business skills and it was common knowledge that he never did anything without an ulterior motive. Scarlett couldn't help but wonder what he expected in return for his kindness.

Before she could ponder any further, Damian spoke up again. Scarlett braced herself for whatever he was about to say. "There is one thing I would like in return, Scarlett. I want you to marry me."

Scarlett was taken aback. She had never even considered the possibility of marrying Damian. She had always thought of him as a business associate and a friend, but never as a potential husband. But as she looked into his eyes, she saw a coldness there that made her shiver. She realized that Damian was not the kind of man who took no for an answer. And her sister's life was at stake.

Scarlett took a deep breath and tried to compose herself. She knew that she had no choice but to agree to his proposal if she wanted to save her sister's life. "Yes, Damian," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I will marry you."

As soon as the words left her mouth, Scarlett felt a pit form in her stomach. She couldn't believe that she had just agreed to marry Damian, a man whom she didn't even love. But she knew that she had to do it. Her sister's life depended on it.

Scarlett tried to put her feelings aside and focus on the task at hand. She had to prepare for the wedding and the life that awaited her as Damian's wife. It was not going to be an easy journey, but she knew that she had to stay strong for her sister's sake.

As the wedding day approached, Scarlett couldn't help but feel nervous. She didn't know what to expect from Damian or from the life that awaited her as his wife. But she knew that she had to go through with it.

The wedding was everything Scarlett could have ever dreamed of, with the crème de la crème of the business world in attendance. The grandeur of the occasion was not lost on her, but neither was the feeling of being a stranger in a sea of familiar faces. Scarlett felt like a fish out of water as she made her way through the crowd, the heavy weight of her bridal gown pulling at her with each step. She didn't know most of the people there, and the stares she received made her feel like an outsider.

As she stood at the altar, Scarlett's heart pounded in her chest. She could hardly believe that she was about to become the wife of the Ruthless Damian, one of the most powerful men in the city. She had always been drawn to his ambition and power, but she had never imagined that she would one day be standing here, ready to pledge her life to him.

As the wedding ceremony began, Scarlett felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. She wondered what her life would be like from that day forward. Would she be happy as the wife of a powerful businessman, or would she find herself trapped in a life of luxury and status, with no real connection to her husband? Was Mitchell’s life worth her happiness?

I have always been a practical person. I learned at a young age that life isn't always fair, and that sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the ones you love. And that's exactly what I was doing now. I was sacrificing my own happiness for my sister's life.

But as much as I tried to push my own feelings aside, I couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness and despair. I didn't know what my future would hold or what kind of life I would have with Damian. Would he treat me well? Would he be kind to me? Or would he be cold and distant, like I feared?

I tried to focus on the present, on the ceremony that was unfolding before me. I listened as the priest spoke about love and commitment, about the promises that we were about to make to each other. I wondered if Damian even believed in those things. Or was this just another business transaction for him?

As the ceremony drew to a close and the priest pronounced us husband and wife, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. I had done it. I had married Damian and saved my sister's life. But at what cost?

Her life has taken a dramatic turn. Her troubles have just begun.
