The phone was vibrating silently on the bedside table and when Emily Clarke saw the caller and picked it up.

“The fish is out and is heading towards your house, you better be careful. I am trying to send reinforcement as soon as possible.” After that, the call was disconnected.

Emily’s body shivered but she felt a warm hand encircle around her and she heaved a sigh of relief.

“Is everything all right?” Richard Clarke whispered.

“He knows everything. And has already arrived outside, we are covered from everywhere.” Emily whispered.

“Hey, don’t worry everything is going to be all right. I am going to cover up outside, till the reinforcement arrives. You go and take care of Callie.” He said and he hugged her tightly as if it was their last hug. And both walked in a separate direction.

Emily's mind raced as she headed down the dimly-lit hallway. The urgency of the call combined with Richard's comforting yet ominous words left her with a sinking feeling. She reached Callie's room and gently opened the door. The nightlight cast a soft glow over her daughter, who was fast asleep, her small chest rising and falling steadily.

Emily watched her for a moment, taking in the innocence of her slumber. She felt an overwhelming rush of determination and love — nothing in the world would harm her child. She crouched down and lightly shook Callie awake.

"Sweetie, wake up," she whispered gently, a practiced calmness in her voice that belied the storm inside her.

Callie's eyes fluttered open, confusion giving way to the first hints of fear. "Mommy, what's happening?"

Emily smiled, though her eyes were somber. "We need to play a little game, okay? We're going to hide for a bit. You remember our special hiding spot, right?"

Callie nodded sleepily, her small hand grasping Emily's as they moved towards the wardrobe. Hidden within was a concealed door that led to a safe, secure passage — a precaution Richard had insisted upon when they first bought the house.

"Stay here," Emily whispered after guiding Callie into the passage. "Remember, no matter what you hear, stay quiet and keep this door locked until I or Daddy come to get you. Understand?"

Her mother instructed her and made her go inside and the secret chamber and tied a gold chain around her neck. And kissed her forehead and said. “Just remember this Callie, mommy and daddy love you and Jayden and you should always listen to your brother, okay?”

Callie nodded, her fear masked by the seriousness with which she took the game. Emily kissed her forehead and pulled the wardrobe door back in place before exiting the room, locking the main door behind her.

As she walked towards the front door of the house, Emily steeled herself, her fear transforming into a clear, cold resolve. This wasn't the first time they faced danger, but the stakes had never been higher. She silently prayed that the reinforcements would arrive soon.

Suddenly, she heard a faint noise from outside. Her pulse quickened as she reached the living room, peering cautiously through the blinds. Richard was there, barely visible in the moonlight, standing guard with a tense readiness.

Emily grabbed a sturdy metal rod from the fireplace and positioned herself near the front entrance. The night seemed to stretch infinitely, each minute feeling like an hour. She focused on the reassuring feel of the rod in her hands, the only solid anchor in this surge of uncertainty.

Callie was excited as daddy would be searching for them. It was so much fun. It was late at night and she was surprised that mommy wanted to play a game before they slept.

She sat comfortably and looked out through the peephole on the cabinet door to see if her daddy was looking for her but she couldn’t see anything as the room’s light was very dim. She was giggling thinking he must be looking around the house for her but was not being able to find her.

The rays of the moon fell from the night sky and entered the secret chamber and it looked bright inside.

She was bored to death and thought of giving a hint to her dad about her hiding place and was about to open the door of the secret chamber when she heard a loud noise.

She quickly peeped from the hole and saw that her mother was lying on the bed and she thought daddy had caught mommy and now he will find her and so she stood there quietly and looked outside eagerly.

Callie saw that her mom was lying on the bed and a man who did not look like her dad was naked and was approaching her mom. She panicked, as she saw him slapping her mom, she opened her mouth to protest but no voice came out. Then she tried to open the door, but it could not be opened. She looked at that man who was forcing himself on her mom, as she struggled fiercely not allowing him to touch her.

Then she saw her dad coming in and grabbing that man and they started fighting, hitting each other. she tried to see the face of the man but failed miserably as it was dark.

Then she saw the strange man pointing something at her dad and he staggered back and fell, she could see her mom struggling and trying to hit that man but all of a sudden even she collapsed back. She was shocked and puzzled as to what was happening and tried to shout but no voice came out of her mouth. She stared at her mom, motionless in her place.

And then she fainted.

When she woke up, she was lying on the bed and her granny and brother were sitting beside her. Jayden hugged her tightly but no sound came out of her mouth.

Granny’s eyes were red and swollen, her face etched with deep lines of worry and sorrow. She gently stroked Callie's hair, whispering words of comfort, though her voice trembled with every syllable. "It's alright, Callie. You're safe now. Everything will be alright."

Her brother, Jayden, tightened his arms around her, his own eyes brimming with tears that he fought to hold back. He had always been her protector, and now, confronted with this incomprehensible tragedy, he didn't know how to shield her from a reality that was unbearably painful.

Callie’s eyes darted around the room, her heart pounding as panic twisted in her chest. She tried to speak, to ask where her parents were, but her voice was lodged somewhere deep within her, paralyzed by the terror she had witnessed.

She could still see the shadowy figure of the man, the brutal force he used against her mother, and her father’s desperate attempt to save them. The images replayed in her mind, an endless, silent agony.

Granny continued her soothing whispers, her own heart breaking as she watched Callie’s silent struggle. "We’re here, darling. We won’t leave you. You’re safe now."

The room felt suffocating, the air thick with unspoken grief. Jayden held her tighter, his young frame shaking with the effort to stay strong for his sister. "We’re going to be okay, Callie. I promise. We’ll get through this together."

Callie wanted to believe them, to find solace in their presence, but the weight of her nightmares was too heavy. Her mind churned with questions she could not voice, fears she could not conquer, and a sorrow that had taken root deep within her.

Days turned into nights, and the world outside continued its relentless spin. Callie remained silent, her voice lost amidst the turmoil of her memories. Granny and Jayden tried their best to reach her, to bring her back from the labyrinth of her thoughts, but Callie’s eyes remained distant, haunted by what she had seen.

The police came, their questions precise, their faces grim. They needed details, confirmation, but Callie could only stare blankly, her mouth unable to form the words they sought. Her silence was both a shield and a shackle, protecting her from reliving the horror but also keeping her trapped within it.

I was eating the porridge brought by hooligans, who were pointing a gun at me and making me eat. I was not scared but felt disgusted at the way they were behaving. I was wondering how long will it take for Hudson to track me. I wanted to delay whatever they were planning, so I cooperated with them and was eating my dinner without any appetite.“You should listen to us or we will kill your brother as well as your lover.” One of them spoke very rudely. I just glared at him. “It’s a pity that Ale has his eyes on you or I would have kept you for myself, after all, you are Emily Clarke’s daughter and it would be an honour to possess your beautiful body. And it would be so much fun as you won’t even object.” The other one mocked me. He then touched my face and I flinched and tried to dodge away. “You are too feisty, no wonder Ale is all over you, just like your mother. Anyways such a pity, you will be his slave from now on and right under your lover’s eyes but he will not be able to do a

  • Billionaire's Lost Lover   Chapter 59

We walked around the dim-lit grounds hiding around the bushes and waited for the car to arrive. Rob was hiding just outside the gate and keeping a close watch and he had texted me that no one had arrived yet. After waiting for nearly an hour three cars drove inside the estate and we saw that the guard was smiling at them as if they were his boss. The car drove towards the golf course and the guard did not stop him. I was seething with anger. Even dared to park my car outside. Who were they? I wondered and we started walking slowly after them. Making sure our shadows were not seen. Finally, the car stopped outside the old building and four men came out of the car. They walked behind the car and opened the boot and each of them carried big bags and went inside the building. There were only four guards according to Rob and I had seen all four of them sitting near the gate. How could I have been so careless about the estate? It was my lack of attention that something illegal was happeni

I took a deep breath and told her. “After my grandfather's death, my dad was too busy expanding his business and he stopped paying attention to it and so it was left just like that, and don’t worry I won’t burn it down. I am just planning to build a small park and would most likely just clear out the old pine trees and keep the new ones. I am very fond of these trees and wouldn’t want to destroy them.” “Oh, it's an excellent idea, Emily. You are doing so much for the community. I am amazed at how generous you and your family are.” Stella said proudly. “It's not about generosity Stella, it's about love for each other, and along these years, I have learned from my ancestors that the more you give, the more you get. And the hospital is a requirement for the needy. The old age home will be a blessing for the old people who don’t have anywhere to go. I hope my children will also learn to appreciate what they have in the future and do something for society.” I said feeling very nostalgic.

It was a very sunny day today and I had driven to the estate with Callie as she was getting bored at home and I was sure if I take her around the golf course. She will be very happy. I had invited my soul sister, Stella to come and join us as I knew even her son Hudson would enjoy it. It's rather boring living in that lakeside residence and her husband was out of town for some business meeting, so I decided to have a small picnic.I told my housekeeper to prepare some lunch for five of us as Scott had told me he would be joining us there. We drove to the estate which was in the heart of the city. And I was really happy thinking that I had taken a good decision to build the hospital there as it would be located in the central area and quite reachable for everyone. As we pulled near the gate the gatekeeper opened the gate and smiled at me. I acknowledged him. And drove inside, Rob has been working here for many years and so I knew him well. Many caretakers cam
