Chapter 7

When Olivia heard the woman claim to be Ethan’s fiancee, she was stunned. Her heart was suddenly filled with a sulfurous feeling that she has never felt before.

Olivia was stunned at her feelings that she did not understand. She has never been in love before and she was sure that she was not in love with Ethan. She wondered where the uncomfortable feelings came from.

“That man can only be mine. If you know what is good for you, you should not even go back to that house. I don’t like it when others covet what is supposed to be mine.” the woman said. Her voice was domineering and Olivia felt cornered.

She was just a simple woman who had not seen much of the world. How was she supposed to deal with someone who just walked up to her and started questioning her?

“Woman, are you even listening to what I am saying?” The woman, Jenny Alexandra was displeased when she did not get any response from Olivia.

“Are you deaf?”

“I…” Olivia did not know what to say. Although she wanted to explain her relationship with Ethan, she did not want to reveal that she was just a surrogate. That was too embarrassing given how arrogant this woman was. She did not want to be laughed at.

“Are you trying to defy me?” Jenny was displeased. No one has ever been rude to her no matter where she went. Almost everyone could not wait to fawn over her given her family background.

“Who do you think you are? You are just a stray dog picked up on the street by Ethan. Do you think that you are someone important?” Jenny said. Her words were cutting. Olivia felt so humiliated that she did not know where to hide.

She was just a dog, a dog sold for a few million dollars so that she can help others continue their bloodline. She did not deserve to be in the same room as everyone else.

Why did she even attend the banquet in the first place? She would have been hard-hearted and stayed in the house.

Olivia looked at the woman who was standing before her with envy. She was beautiful, she had a nice figure and she had a good family background.

She was confident and she could do whatever she wanted. Only if she had a tenth of this woman’s courage, she would have been able to stand up for herself.

But the inferiority complex in her would only make her want to quiver in fear. She did not have what it takes to face someone head-on. If not, she would not be feeling this humiliated.

Seeing that the woman was not responding and was even staring at her like an idiot, Jenny finally lost her temper.

She went to Olivia and caught her by the wrist, wanting to slap her.

After seeing that woman had gone for a long time, Ethan started to feel worried. Although he had been entertaining his business partners, part of his attention was kept on Olivia.

He saw how the waiter humiliated her and just as he wanted to walk over to offer his help, the woman hurriedly left.

He guessed that she might have gone to the washroom. But it was now more than twenty minutes since she left.

Did she try something funny like escaping? Ethan swore that he would break her leg if she really attempted to run away.

He excused himself and headed to the bathroom. At the same time, he was talking through his Bluetooth headset asking if any of his bodyguards had seen Olivia. This was his turf and it was even hard for a fly to pass through, let alone a living person.

After hearing that no one had left the premises, Ethan continued on his way to the washroom.

He was just in time to see someone lift a hand to slap the silly woman. The woman seemed to have been overpowered as she curled herself in a ball. It was like she was going to stand there and let the other woman rain slaps on her.

“Stop right there,” Ethan shouted.

Jenny’s raised hand was suspended midair after hearing the familiar voice. Olivia was relieved and just as she was about to dart away, the man caught her and held her hand.

Jenny angrily turned around and looked at the man who had interrupted her. He did not even spare her a glance as he looked at the timid woman who wanted to run away.

“Where do you think you are running to?” Ethan asked in a low voice.

Olivia did not answer. She just let the man hold her hand without struggling much. She was feeling like an insignificant ant and she did not have the energy to bicker with this man.

“Ethan, what is the meaning of this?” Jenny asked angrily when she saw that the man had completely ignored her.

“Meaning of what?” Ethan did not turn around as he asked in a cold voice.

“Have you forgotten that I am your fiancee?”

“Not anymore. You are just an ex-fiancee.” Ethan said in a domineering voice.

Jenny was speechless. Her face turned pale as she looked at the man who she had loved ever since she was young. She could not accept what she was hearing right now.

“What is your relationship with her?” Jenny asked.

Ethan finally turned around and stared at her, “You will find out soon.” he said. His tone was arrogant and he did not have any regard for Jenny.

Jenny’s face turned a few shades paler and for a moment she did not know how to react.

When Olivia heard Ethan, confusion flashed through her eyes. He was not about to announce to the whole world that she was his surrogate, was he?

After remembering the humiliation she had been through and the fact that she could not even explain his relationship with this man, Olivia felt a surge of anger engulf her and she immediately threw Ethan’s hand off.

If he had not used those underhanded means, she would not be in this embarrassing situation.

Ethan was stunned when the woman threw her hand off. Thinking that she might have been hurt, he asked in a concerned voice if everything was okay.

“Are you alright?” he inquired. His voice was calm and even a little gentle than the one he had used while talking to Jenny, but Olivia felt even more wronged.

She turned to the man and looked at him coldly, “it has nothing to do with you.”

Ethan was livid. What was wrong with this woman? He was only concerned about her.

He looked at her with a dangerous gaze, scaring Olivia stiff. The man put his hands in his trousers and approached the woman who was moving backward. Olivia knew that she had hit a dead end when her back touched the wall.

Her eyes darted around quickly. She did not dare look the man directly in the eye.

Ethan approached her and placed his arm on the wall, totally sandwiching her between the wall and his arms.

On his face was a devilish smile that Olivia has never seen before. Her heart jumped around nervously and she looked at the man with a scared expression.

Ethan moved closer but before he could teach a certain someone a lesson, his business partner called him. He immediately let go of Olivia, returning to his cool self. Looking at his poker face, Olivia felt that everything that happened a moment ago was just an illusion.

They all returned to the banquet and continued with the gathering. This time, Ethan did not let go of Olivia’s hand no matter how much she struggled.

And just as everyone was reaching the peak of their curiosity, Ethan dragged the unwilling woman until they reached the stage. Since he was the organizer, everyone’s attention turned to him.

“Sorry to interrupt you, please. I want to introduce someone to you all…” Ethan said.

After making sure that everyone’s attention was on him, he raised their entwined hands and said in a deep, low voice.

“With me here is my fiancee. We will be getting married next month and I hope that everyone will come to give us their blessings.”

Everyone was stunned but their shock could not compare to what Olivia was feeling.

She felt her mind go completely blank and she was unable to process anything for a moment.
