(Allison's POV)
"Is he your ex, the one you told me about?" Stefan asked as he drove me to Aunt Hilda's house. Aunt Hilda was the one who picked up Liam from school, so he was at her place. "Allison?" He called my name when I didn't respond. I slowly looked at him and nodded. Though I had once told Stefan about Scott and how he had shattered me, this was the first time they've met. I met Stefan when I was still in New York, and he has been a wonderful friend to me. He is an author of children's books and loves children a lot. We became friends after Liam, who was two years old at the time, became captivated by his book. Liam didn't know how to read, but as long as there were lots of pictures, he'd love it. I still remember how Liam cried, saying he wanted to take one of Stefan's storybooks home, and Stefan offered it to him. He has always been kind and loves Liam like his own son. "Is he giving you a hard time?" Stefan asked, his eyes fixed on me. I shook my head again, resting my head properly on the headrest of his car. "I guess he’s always the reason for that sad look on your face," Stefan said. "You had that same expression when you told me about him." "Stefan, can we please stop talking about Scott?" I pleaded, my eyes begging. I didn’t want to hear his name. Stefan was right—Scott always brought sadness to my face. He used to be my source of joy, but now, he only reminded me of pain. "I'm sorry, Allison," Stefan apologized. "You don't have to apologize, Stefan." Stefan smiled and continued driving. We got to Aunt Hilda's house, and Liam jumped on me immediately. "Mummy!" he said, hugging me tightly. "I'm sorry, Mummy couldn't pick you up from school. Work was hectic," I said, making a cute face, and he laughed. "It's fine, Mummy. I had fun with Aunt Hilda. She prepared my favorite food, and we watched SpongeBob together," Liam said excitedly. SpongeBob has always been his favorite TV series; he can watch it for days. "Thanks, Aunt, for taking care of my son." "Don't thank me, Allison. Liam is my grandson; it's my responsibility to look after him while you're at work," Aunt Hilda said, and I smiled. When I suggested having a nanny for Liam, she was against it, saying she could take care of him while I was busy at work. Stefan stepped inside after parking his car. "Uncle Stefan!" Liam said, rushing to him. Stefan, on the other hand, welcomed him into his arms with a smile before scooping him up. "How are you, Liam?" he asked. "I'm fine. This isn't New York," Liam said, and Stefan ruffled his head with a smile. He was always fond of doing that. "I have something to do in California, that's why I'm here." "Does that mean you brought lots of storybooks for me?" Liam asked, and Stefan chuckled while I stood watching them. Since Liam didn't have a father—or should I say, since I deprived him of having a father—he was always so excited to meet Stefan. Though I knew deep down, he wanted his own biological father, sadly, I couldn't give him that. "Yes, Liam. It'd be a crime on my part to come to California without bringing lots of storybooks for you. I wrote a new storybook recently, and you'd be the first to see it." "Yay! When am I going to have it?" Liam asked excitedly, as if he were a pro at reading. But I don't blame him. He inherited his love for chocolates and storybooks from Scott. Scott is a chocolate lover, and he would spend all day reading a book. Sometimes I would get mad at him when he dedicated his entire attention to a book, and he would always beg me, saying he had just one chapter left. "Allison, heat up the food, so we can all eat before you leave," Aunt Hilda's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. It's crazy how everything reminds me of Scott. It wasn't like this for four years, but maybe it's because I met him again, and we share some good memories together. "Okay, Aunt," I answered, heading for the kitchen. I could hear Aunt Hilda asking about Stefan's well-being. It was so obvious she loved Stefan and wanted something more than just friendship to happen between us. Dinner was set, and we all sat at the dining table to eat. Stefan, who is always fond of complimenting others, didn't hesitate to compliment Aunt Hilda's cooking. After dinner, Stefan drove us home because my car was still where I left it earlier. Liam was already asleep before we got home, so with Stefan's help, we laid him on the bed. "Thanks, Stefan." "It's nothing, Allison. Nice apartment you got here," he said with a smile. I returned the smile, and we both sat on the sofa in the living room. "How many days will you be here?" I asked. "Why? You want me to leave quickly?" Stefan teased. I frowned, and it made him laugh. "I don't know yet. It depends on how long the conference meeting lasts... maybe a week or more. I don't know yet," he explained, and I nodded. My mind shifted to how I had introduced him as my fiancé in front of Scott, and I sighed. "Stefan, about..." "You introducing me as your fiancé in front of your ex," Stefan interrupted me, and I nodded, guilt on my face. "I'm sorry, Stefan. I shouldn't have done that. It's just that -- I lied to him, saying I was engaged, and you were the only one available to make him believe that I am really engaged." Stefan smiled and brushed my nose playfully. "It's fine, Allison. I clearly understand why you did that, and that's why I decided to play along." "I'm sorry," I apologized again, and he chuckled. "I already said it's fine," I exhaled deeply, grateful that he understood me. Stefan has always been like that, doing his best to understand me. "So now that you're in California, are you staying in a hotel?" I asked, trying to shift the conversation to another topic. "Yes, unless you want me to stay here," he teased. "Stefan!" I called his name, laughing. He always likes teasing me, and I would be a liar if I said I don't enjoy it. I could see him smiling too. "How about your car?" "I'll have it fixed tomorrow. Thanks for driving me home. You showed up at the right time," I said, and Stefan only smiled. "Now I'm curious—how did you know I was stranded there? Did you, by chance, insert a tracker on me?" I asked, teasing him back, and he laughed briefly. It was always so nice and entertaining talking to Stefan. "No, I didn't," he replied, and I furrowed my eyebrows, waiting for an answer. "I called Bonnie, and she was the one who told me where to find you. It was hard locating you, but I did my best." "You should've called me instead. It must've been tiring." "I wanted to surprise you. Besides, when it comes to you, nothing feels like too much effort. You know I love you, right?" Stefan asked, his eyes sincere. "Would you like to watch a movie?" I asked, avoiding his question, as I normally do. Stefan, as usual, nodded with a smile, not pushing further. I felt bad about it, but I just wasn’t ready to love again. The last time I opened my heart, it was shattered into pieces. "Just know I’m willing to wait for you, no matter how long it takes," he said softly, smiling at me.(Writer's POV) "Alex!!!!" Clara screamed his name loudly, holding a megaphone, standing outside his house. He had gone back to his apartment but was still grieving over what Bonnie had said to him. He had even taken a few days off from work. "Alex!!!" she called again, her right hand holding the megaphone and her left hand placed on her waist like the troublemaker she is. "Come out of your house, Alex!!!" she shouted again. The other residents were all staring at her from their windows, but Clara isn't the shy type, so she cared less about their unending stares. "Alex!!!!" Alex finally came out of the house, giving her a scornful look. "What the heck is your problem?" he demanded, because indeed Clara had a problem. Who in their right mind comes to someone's house to scream their name through a megaphone? That person had to be Clara—she acts crazy when she wants to and sweet when she feels like it, and right now, she's totally in her crazy mood. Clara approached him with a
(Writer's POV) Bonnie lay on the bed with sadness written all over her face. She was still not over her breakup with Peter. It hurt because he was the first man she had ever opened her heart to love. Her relationships with other men over the years were mainly for fun and not because she wanted something serious. "I guess this is how my exes felt whenever I broke their hearts. This is karma slapping you in the face, Bonnie" she murmured to herself, wiping the tears from her eyes. The door creaked open, and knowing it's her mom, Bonnie pretended to be asleep. Right now, she didn't want another epistle from her mom. Her parents had already found out that the man she was dating was gay. Her dad was considerate about how she felt, but her mom only gave her an earful about not choosing the right man. "Bonnie," she called out, but Bonnie pretended to be sleeping while faking a yawn. "Don't trick me, Bonnie, because it's pretty obvious you're not sleeping," her mom said. Bonnie
(Scott's POV) "I furrowed my eyebrows as Peter handed his resignation letter to me, his head bowed in what I couldn't read—maybe guilt or shame, I couldn't tell." "Why are you handing your resignation letter to me?" I asked. "I'm sure you must've heard what I did to Bonnie. She's Allison's friend, and you really care about those who are important to her," he muttered. "So you made a decision on your own, by wanting to resign? You think that's what I would want from you?" I inquired. He looked at me, but he didn't say a word. "I asked you before if you sincerely loved Bonnie, and you told me you love her, only for me to find out you were using her to cover up your real relationship. If you had a sister, and she was treated the way you made a fool out of Bonnie, would you have found it funny?" I asked, and Peter shook his head. "I'm angry about what you did, but that doesn't mean I'm going to have you fired. Being gay isn't such a big deal—you're the one seeing it that way
(Allison's POV) Bonnie held her cheek as she looked at me in surprise. She hadn’t expected me to slap her—neither did I. But she had gone too far, and I needed to make her think straight because it was so obvious she had lost it. She even dared to sleep with my brother! “Did you just slap me?” she questioned. “Yes,” I answered firmly. “I slapped you, Bonnie, and I will do it over and over again if you don’t watch your tongue. I came here so I could talk to you, but it’s obvious you’ve gone mad. You should see a psychiatrist because that’s what you need!” I snapped at her and turned to leave, but Bonnie held my hand. “Allison,” her voice choked with tears. I turned to look at her, and she was already shedding tears. “You were right about Peter. He doesn’t love me like he claims he does. He’s gay, and he was just using me to hide the fact that he’s gay. I was just so heartbroken when I found out the truth from him, and I didn’t know how to face you because you’ve been right all a
(Allison's POV) I blushed hard as Scott slipped his hands around my waist. "Aren’t you becoming obsessed with me?" I simpered. "Yes. I’m madly obsessed with you," he whispered, kissing my cheeks, and I blushed even harder. "I’m going to try my best to make up for the times I wasn’t there for you," he whispered again, and I chuckled. "Aren’t you going to work?" I asked, even though I wanted him to stay at home with me. I didn’t have much to do at my clothing line, so I decided to take a day off from work. We had the house all to ourselves because Liam and Clara visited Aunt Hilda. "Work can wait. You’re more important than anything in the world." "Stop being cheesy." "Do you love it or hate it?" he murmured. I licked my lower lip with a smile. "I love it," I answered, and he kissed my cheek again with his hands hovering around me. "I want to eat you up right now… I just can’t get enough of you," he said as he turned me to face him. I blushed like a teenager in love. He pecke
(Writer's POV) "Do you want to eat lunch with us?" a group of female interns asked Alex, who had buried his head in his work. Alex lifted his head from his computer and smiled at them. "No, I can't. I have to finish my assignment." "We all have assignments to do, but that doesn't mean we can't go out to eat, right? Come on, Alex, join us, it's going to be my treat," one of them said while the rest nodded their heads, smiling at him. Alex is the most handsome one among the male interns, so every female interns wanted to bond with him. "I'm really sorry, but I can't. Maybe next time." "That's what you always say. Why can't you hang out with us? Do you have a girlfriend who is so toxic?" another asked. "I don't have a girlfriend," he muttered. "More reason you should hang out with us. You never know, you might like one of us," another said and the rest giggled. Alex looked at them and sighed. He knew it would be impossible for him to love another girl who isn't Bonnie.
(Writer's POV) Bonnie smiled sweetly as she designed the cake she had just baked with lots of love petals. She was planning on giving it to Peter because it was his birthday today. "I'm sure he's going to love it," she blushed. "What are you doing, Bonnie?" her mom asked when she entered the kitchen with her dad. Her parents came over to spend the weekend with her. "I'm baking a cake for Peter. It's his birthday today," she smiled. "Who's Peter?" her dad asked. "Peter is her boyfriend. The man she has refused to introduce to us," her mom answered on her behalf. "Mom, it's not like I don't want to introduce him to you. He's been busy and that's why I'm yet to introduce him to both of you," as always, she defended Peter. "No man is too busy for the woman he loves. If he really loves you, he would make time to be with you and get to know your family," her dad said. "Peter isn't like other men. Besides, he doesn't need to be with me every day before I can be convinced he loves me
(Scott's POV) I stared at Allison, waiting for her to say something, but she remained quiet, just staring back at me with eyes filled with guilt. "When you said you spent the night at Elena's house because she was having issues with her husband... was that a lie? Did you spend the night in his hotel suite—and kiss him?" I asked again, hoping she’d say something—anything at all. "Yes, she did, Scott," Stefan answered on her behalf. "She lied to you. Gosh, her lips were so soft when I kissed her. Tasted like vanilla," he added, clearly trying to provoke me. I fell for it and punched him in the face. Anger and jealousy surged through me knowing he had kissed Allison—my woman. When she said she’d been celibate after we broke up, I felt honored. It meant I was still the only man who had been privileged to kiss her, touch her, and do whatever I wanted with her body. But now, I’d just found out Stefan had kissed her. Stefan laughed, wiping the blood from his lips. "You're so pisse
(Allison's POV) My aunt and my brother were beyond shocked when I told them how Stefan had lied about being crippled. Aunt Hilda and I had visited Alex in his condo, and I decided to tell them about it, but I left out the part where he tried to rape me. They wouldn't take it lightly, especially Alex. I didn't want more drama, which was why I deleted that part from our conversation. "I still can't believe Stefan could lie about being crippled. I thought he was a decent man," Aunt Hilda said, clicking her tongue. I also thought the same way, but now I understood who he truly is, behind the facade he was putting on. "I'm sure he did that just to get your attention, sis. Have you talked to him?" Alex asked. He wouldn't have asked such a question if I had told him Stefan tried to rape me. He would have been on his way to confront Stefan right now. I smiled and shook my head. Ever since the day he tried to rape me, I blocked his number. Scott had insisted we file a case agains
