Zoe’s Pov

“You have been poisoned for a long time now, and it has affected your body greatly…” The doctor paused, not sure of how safe to put it.

“Doctor, please tell me… I need to know,” I said, knowing something bad was happening to me. I had been having nosebleeds which I thought were from excessively stressing myself, then it got frequent even after going to the hospital I usually get checked up in.

The doctor there ran some tests and said I was fine, I just needed to rest often. I was rest assured till I coughed out blood continuously, and I could not trust the doctor again. I had to try elsewhere, which brought me here.

“You don’t have much time to live… I’m so sorry. The poison had slowly entered into your body and caused lots of internal damage.” I heard this and cracked from within.

‘I was dying… no, no, I could die any moment.’ I said to myself. 

“You should have had lots of symptoms. Why didn’t you get yourself checked?”

“Why? I actually did, but I got deceived.” I could only smile bitterly.

“Thank you, doctor,” I said as I stood up. I couldn’t hear what he was saying again. It was as if I had turned deaf, or he had been mute, or I didn’t want to. What else could he say again to make it better?

Immediately I was out of the office, I took out my phone and looked at a photo that looked like me. It was my twin eldest sister. We looked exactly the same, so I felt like I was looking in the mirror. Even though it seemed she preferred her hair to curl, I preferred mine straight.

“How can you like your hair being straight, big sis… you take after mom.” I laughed to myself, but it wasn’t a cheerful laugh. Tears were forming in my eyes as I kept on scrolling the pictures my trusted secretary had sent.

Looking at the pictures made me emotional, which finally brought down the tears in my eyes, but they dripped silently as I smiled sadly.

I walked back into my car parked outside and sat with my head resting on the headrest. I took out a pen recorder and started recording.

“Big sis… I’m sorry I have to bring you to this fight… it seems it’s the end of the journey for me, I couldn’t bring them down but…”

“But you have to. I could only gather the information needed for everyone that hurt our family and potential threats. I lost the flash drive, but you have to find it. It’s still on the big boat. It would help you together with my diary.” Then I stopped the recorder and checked the drawer side at the other side of the car.

Yes, the diary was still there. I opened it and wrote a sentence above a page.

‘The family doctor too was part’ I couldn't explain how else he kept on lying and giving fake diagnosis except if he was working with my family.

I took out my phone and called Daniel, who I hadn’t had time to reach out to these days.

When the phone rang, I wanted to speak when I felt a metallic taste in my mouth, and then I quickly took my tissue and coughed out blood inside it for a while before I calmed down.

That was when the call was picked up. I took the phone from the seat and spoke.

“Daniel, tell my twin sister I want us to meet… we have a lot to talk about.”

It was time I told her everything. I was dying, after all.

After that, I dropped the call and drove away. It was already getting late, and night was coming fast.

I was driving down the road when I noticed a black car had been following me for a long time. So I tried to confirm my suspicion by driving fast.

“Someone was trailing me.” I saw that the car also sped and was drawing closer to me till he got to the side of the car, and then I turned to look at who it was only for a collision to happen.

Boom! He steered his car to hit mine, and I lost control and gasped.
