Clutching my stomach, I bit back the urge to vomit. “Stay away from the Wentworth Group. Melody’s POVMy office was stunning. It was a corner office, with a gleaming cherry wood desk set against a floor to ceiling window that offered sweeping views of the city. To one side of the room was a lounge area, complete with a sofa, two oversized armchairs, and a coffee table. It also featured a coffee bar with my own personal expresso maker and mini fridge.“Will this do, Miss Wentworth?” Anthony asked, pushing his black rimmed glasses up onto the bridge of his nose. His tone was semi-sarcastic; he knew full well that the office was perfect.

The board member’s eyes tracked me as I crossed the room and took my place at the head of the table where Eleanor was standing. The mahogany table gleamed under the board room lights. An untouched plate of assorted donuts sat in the center of the table, and each board member had a cup of coffee placed in front of them.“Melody,” Eleanor said with a coy smile. “You’re right on time.”

I figured he was just tired, since it had been a long, eventful night. However, when I went to bid him good night, he grabbed my wrist.“Wait,” he said.
