Chapter 10

Author: Wild Wheat
I signed up for a double major in Business Management and Economics and Finance.

My days were packed with classes. When I had free time, I would work out with my personal trainer at the gym and also learn how to manage the business from Dad.

I made sure that my daily timetable was always filled and refused to give myself any time for slacking off.

Because I knew that if I were to slow down, the guilt toward Arlene and resentment toward both Camden and Ruth I'd buried deep in my heart would immediately resurface. They would explode like a bomb, overwhelming my sanity and rationale and destroying my conviction.

It wasn't time yet.

I wanted Camden and Ruth to have their lives utterly destroyed.

Half a year passed, and I eventually got used to life at this pace. I even managed to befriend someone at the university, Lily Walters.

Lily was exceptionally excited that day.

"Did you hear, Angie? Our new professor is really tall and handsome. He's also from the Olsen family!"

The stack of documents were the share transfer agreements from when I privately acquired the scattered shares for Bale Group.I had originally owned 30% of the company shares, after all. And as long as I was willing to pay for it, it wasn't hard for me to acquire another 20%.In other words, I was now the largest shareholder of Bale Group. And it didn't matter whether or not Camden signed the contract, because I could participate in making the company's biggest business decisions as well. After going to the last page of the document, Camden's face had turned white."Must you really go this far, Angie?" he asked. "I'll sign it, but you must return to my side."I slapped him hard with all the strength I could muster. The entire room fell tense and deathly quiet.I forced down the anger boiling in my chest and spat, "What right do you think you even have to say something like that?"If it weren't for me, Bale Group wouldn't have existed a long time ago! I'm just taking back what r

Would I still believe Hans? But did it matter anymore? If I were still my 18-year-old self, then yes, it would have mattered a lot.Back then, I dreamed about my Prince Charming falling out of the sky and into my lap whilst falling deeply in love with me. I thought that love was everything back then, and nothing else mattered. But now, I needed to be stronger and wiser, and I needed to keep my promise with Arlene. The only thing I wouldn't do was rush into another relationship so easily again. When I found Camden with the coat last time, he looked a little surprised at first. But later on, he silently acknowledged the fact that he was the one who had saved my life that day and enjoyed my pursuit and goodwill. Now that I thought of it, would Camden even have bothered letting me get close to him if I weren't Dad's daughter?Maybe we had both started off on the wrong foot from the very start. We both had ulterior motives of our own.So, how sure could I be that Hans wasn't going t

Angeline's Point of ViewI wouldn't stop getting nightmares when I first returned to Dad's side.In my dream, I found myself back during the time when Camden and I first met. It had been my 18th birthday party, and I lost my footing and fell into the pool. He was the one who had saved my life. When I found him to return the coat he'd draped around my body, I fell in love with him at first sight. We began contacting each other more frequently after that and often met up at bars, clubs, and balls. He was three years older than me and seemed very mature and emotionally stable, drawing me closer and closer with his intoxicating presence and making me infatuated with him.We had sex once after getting drunk. That was how Arlene had come about.Camden was very apologetic toward me and told me that he would take responsibility for his actions. He even said that he was willing to take care of the child himself if I wasn't willing or ready to be a mom.I refused to take his offer. Ins

Ruth didn't understand what was going on.She was still as carefree and confident as ever, not at all guessing that the Camden she thought loved her to bits had already found out about everything she did behind his back. She just went over to the couch as usual with a huge smile on her face, proudly showing off her shopping bags. After talking for a while by herself, she realized that Camden was still only staring at her without any other reaction, and she began to feel a little creeped out.She tossed the cashmere scarf aside and leaned away from him."Camden? What's with that look? I was out shopping all day, and my back is aching terribly now. Why aren't you concerned about me? And to think that I even bought you the latest watch—""Where is Angeline?" Camden suddenly asked, interrupting her.Ruth frowned. "How should I know? And why are you suddenly asking about her? Didn't we agree to continue living together as a family, just the three of us—"Before she could finish, how

"A package?" Camden echoed, puzzled.Jonas delivered the package soon after. The date on the waybill showed that it had been sent the next day after Angeline's kidnapping and disappearance.Camden gripped the parcel hard and hurried up the stairs as quickly as he could. Patricia called out to him a few times, but he didn't hear her.He only heaved a sigh of relief after going into his study. Then, he tore open the package at once.Inside lay Arlene's death investigation report, Angeline's pregnancy test report, their divorce agreement, and a flash drive holding the surveillance video. Everything was revealed to Camden at once. The first thing he saw was Angeline's pregnancy test report. She had been pregnant for two months, and the date of the report was the same date that his son was born. There were also the records of her miscarriage inserted after the pregnancy test report.Camden's lips trembled. He began muttering to himself, as if Angeline was just right next to him."W
