Chapter 8

POV Stella.

I’ve gone insane and that my body as a mind of its own.

Yep

I’ve just accepted to go with this strange man who has told me some absolute crazy shite but for some reason I keep believe him and accepting his offers.

Get it together women why are we doing this?

Grief, that’s what it must be, right?

His eyes, why do I feel like I’ve known him my whole life?

Must be because he looks like Jack.

Must be.

James was helping Stella pack some of her things to go to the pack house. She was still surprised when she wasn’t resisting all of this, she had even called her boss asking for the rest of the week off which they gave her immediately. Stella called Brittney letting her know she was going to go out of town for a few days to clear her head and get out of the house, Britt was so happy for her that she didn’t even ask when she was coming back. Stella became lost in her thoughts while James was standing at her bedroom door watching her.

This is weird right why is it all going smooth?

This shit never happens to me, never.

Not my childhood, not my schooling, not even my relationship with Jack it was up and down constantly.

Even our wedding day was rocky and don’t get me started on trying to have a baby and the treatments and bullshit that never worked.

Even when they said the last transfer worked, I didn’t believe them I don’t know why but I knew it wasn’t going to work, I never told Jack that, he was so hopeful.

Why?

Is this why?

Is this fate or is it all bullshit?

Why does this feel easy and okay?

Oh, shit I bet he can hear me, fuck.

You heard all of that didn’t you?

Stella turned slowly to see James with a smirk on his face nodding.

Fuck.

James helped Stella carry her bags to his car, James laughed at her saying “Did you need to pack everything!” Stella was annoyed when she said “You never know when you’re going to need something!” In the car Stella was fidgeting, she had so many questions buzzing though her head she wanted to ask them but also felt they might make her look stupid. “You can ask me if you want.” James finally said, Stella looked at him wide eyes saying “Could you hear me saying I wanted to ask questions!” James made an annoyed face and said “Actually no I didn’t hear that. You must be getting stronger to not be projecting all your thoughts.” Stella looked out the window with a smile on her face and then launched into her questions while James drove them out of the city.

POV James

James had lost count of the questions Stella was asking him. They were questions about how the pack was run, how the wolf’s inner voice works, how transformation works. If wolves have to be bitten or if they can be born, it didn’t bother James as Stella was excited and it was the first time he has seen her so carefree. James was a little disappointed that she had already figured out how to stop projecting all of her thoughts as he actually enjoyed hearing her thoughts after she figured out how to stop yelling them.

“So how many people live here?” Stella asked as we drove down the driveway. James had explained how the alpha and betas families lived in the pack house and everyone else had their own house on their territory, he explained there was around 50 people who lived on the territory but there are some people who are part of the pack but have been given permission to live in town or travel.

Parking infront of the pack house he knew that stella was slightly confused by the size of the house, from the front and to the naked eye it looked like a little cottage surrounded by thick trees and bush. James explained to Stella that there was another level underground that served as storage and emergency bunkers. Still looking confused James continued to explain that the trees and bushes were hiding the extensions of the house there were about three houses connected to each other. James left out the part about how the house was bewitched to seem old, run down and small to outsiders but when you entered the pack you could see the house for the beauty it was. He didn’t want to overwhelm her on her first day with the full moon only now two nights away.

Stella was amazed that there were that many werewolves, she continued to ask questions as we unloaded the car. As we walked in the house my future beta Nep was waiting for us when all of a sudden, she says “You’ve got a touch of destiny about you” she was looking straight at Stella who was staring at her with her mouth open. James laughed “why do you sound like the chick from Pirates of the Caribbean?” Nep laughed “She linked that I looked like her so I did my best Jamaican accent” Nep smiled putting a hand on her hip pointing at Stella. Stella wasn’t wrong, Nep had long locks that reached her backside, but they were white as snow along with her skin.

Stella stuttered her apology “I- I’m so-sorry I didn’t mean to I don’t know how to control that yet!” Nep waved her apology away saying “Don’t stress new girl! I do look a bit like her, especially if she was albino like me lol! Now that would be sooo much cooler. The names Neptune but please call me Nep” with a wink Nep showed Stella to the room she would be staying in, it was next door to James’ room.

Stella was taking it all in well, but James was waiting for the breakdown for her to freak out and run. He felt sick at the thought of her leaving him, he felt calm and relaxed around her. He caught Nep looking at him with raised eyebrows so he mind linked her “what?” She replied, “are you going to tell her you’re her mate!” James shook his head. Nep rolled her eyes replying “Sook. Why is she taking this all so well I thought you would have had to drag her here? Don’t get me wrong this is so much easier but I kind of expected her to react like most little human girls do, all whiney and crying” James shrugged and then linked “I thought you’d be able to help me out with that use your gift on her” Nep stuck her middle finger up at him and rolled her eyes walking away with Stella to the kitchen “No shit Sherlock I’ve already started”.
