Chapter twenty three

I could feel my adrenaline rush through my veins. I was in no condition to fight but the situation was forcing me to. 

Xander moved to hide behind the sheers, still observing outside.

“What's happening?” I asked, slowly pulling the duvet off my body.

“Jeremy's here. At least he cleaned up.” He confirmed.

“I need to go.” I said.

He snapped his head to me. Shock was written all over his face, his eyes screaming 'no'.

“Oh, hell you are not. You are not in any condition to step out of your bed. Your wound might reopen.”

“Well, I can't just sit when he's here to kill you all in front of me.”

A gunshot blasted outside, destroying the tranquility of the afternoon. The noise reverberated two more times and I couldn't hold on any much longer.

“Two down.” Xander said. Taking that as my cue, I yanked the drip from the back of my arm.
