Chapter 58

Katie's POV

I stood outside Westview Avenue like a girl who was early to Prom night. I didn't know if I was expecting Melissa to pick me up herself or if there would be a designated driver. The road was fairly busy, with cars passing by every minute or so.

At first, I stood on my heels, maintaining a strong posture so no one mistook me for a roadside chic even though they weren't common around here.

After thirty minutes passed and no one showed up, Melissa wasn't picking up her calls and I was beginning to feel like a fool while simultaneously getting worried. What if something happened to her? I didn't know anyone who knew her and I also didn't want to show up at the place without her. I searched the purse that Barbara had lent to me, taking out my phone to see if any calls had come through, but there were none.
