Chapter Two

last update publish date: 2026-07-14 02:08:02

As Ethan stepped into the office, his froze instantly. His hand remained on the doorknob as his mind struggled to process what he was seeing.

Doctor Martins he was looking for was standing only an inch away, his white coat was carelessly discarded over a chair, and close before him was another young doctor whose face Ethan instantly recognized from one of his previous hospital visits. The first day he saw the two of them alone, Doctor Martins had claimed that he was assigning him work.

The two men did not notice the door opening, the intimacy between them was unmistakable.

Their laughter came to an abrupt stop when the young doctor finally glanced toward the entrance.

"Doctor, someone is..." His smile vanished immediately and he stepped away as fast as he could.

Martins frowned before turning around but the moment their eyes met, his face became pale.

"Ethan," he mumbled.

For what felt like an eternity, no one spoke. Ethan's chest tightened because he had never imagined this.

While coming to his office, he had wondered countless reasons why Martins hadn't answered his calls. A difficult surgery? An emergency? A patient in critical condition?... There was nothing he did not imagine, yet... He never imagined this— to catch his boyfriend cheating on him with another doctor and right in his office.

His phone suddenly from his hand, pulling him back to reality. He bent down and picked it, then turned to leave but Martins rushed over and stopped him.

"Ethan, please wait!" Martins yelled, blocking Ethan's path. "It's not what you think. I... We, we were just..."

"Helping each other with work, right?" Ethan asked and let out a small laugh. He didn't laugh because it was funny but because of how stupidly he had been, trying to trust his boyfriend even after so many times of seeing the signs. He would ignore it, giving himself ridiculous excuses.

Martins opened his mouth but no words came out.

Ethan looked from Martins to the young doctor before giving a small nod.

"I understand."

His calmness startled Martins far more than if he had shouted.

"Ethan please listen to me. I swear, this is not what you think, I swear. He was the one who came here to seduce me, I swear..."

The young doctor widened his eyes in shock, he opened his mouth but afterwards, no words came out.

Ethan noticed his reaction and smiled.

"There isn't anything to explain," he quietly said.

"Please Ethan... Please," Martins pleaded.

But Ethan remained unmoved. "I called you several times but you didn't pick. I even thought something had happened to you. I was worried about you, Martins. Guess now, I interrupted something important."

"Ethan!" Martins called but Ethan had already turned around.

He walked towards the door and just before leaving, he stopped. Without looking back, he spoke one last sentence.

"We are done."

The office door closed with a soft click, but inside Martins' heart, the sound echoed like thunder.

Outside, Ethan walked through the hallway as though nothing had happened. Doctors and nurses greeted him, of course he was no visitor there. They all knew him. And he smiled politely at each of them.

Only after reaching the parking lot did he stop beside his car, hs hand shook as he unlocked it. Inside the car, he rested both hands on the steering wheel and for several seconds he simply stared ahead.

After some time, he started the engine and drove off.

Adrian returned to his apartment that evening with a troubled heart. His mind had not been at rest ever since he heard that Little Devil was back.

Five years ago, he ruled the underworld with the name Shadow, along with only friend Little Devil. They were called 'twin devils of the underworld' because wherever one went, the other followed.

But one day, little devil committed a crime and instead of taking the blame, he pinned everything on Adrian and ran away.

Adrian was severely punished, after which he faked his death and left the organization and the city for good.

Now, hearing that little devil was back, it not only brought back old memories but also make the past which he seemed to have forgotten return.

Adrian placed the books he was carrying on his table, went into his room to change. And after having his bath, he changed into a simple brown pants and white polo. Then picked up his car keys and left the house once again.

He climbed into his black Jeep and drove off. After an hour or more drive, he arrived at his destination.

It was a large bar built in a remote area. He came down from his car, gave his keys to the security man there and then walked straight to the bar. At the entrance were two hefty bodyguards, the moment they saw him, they bowed.

"Mr. Vale."

"Mr. Vale."

He responded with a nod and walked past them into the bar.

It was cozy inside, soft music played in the background and the light was dim. Some ladies were dancing while being sprayed money, while the customers drank happily.

Adrian headed straight to the VIP section but on his way, someone stumbled into him and almost fell but fortunately, he caught the person.

For a moment, the two stared at each other. One was drunk, his eyes were not fully open, while the other was slightly frowning in displease, yet his eyes seemed glued on the young man in his hands.

After what seems like an eternity, Ethan backed away.

"I-I am sorry," he apologized and staggered past Adrian.

Adrian watched as Ethan headed straight to the men's room.

Meanwhile, Ethan who was drunk got to the men's room and went to the sink. He gazed at the mirror, staring at himself while his mind played the scene he wanted so much to forget.

Soon, tears gathered in his eyes.

While he was there, a man walked into place and approached him, smirking.

"Hey, what's wrong?" The man asked, sounding nice. "You don't look okay."

Ethan immediately wiped his tears and tried to leave. "Nothing, excuse me."

But just as he took a staggering step forward, he almost stumbled again. The man caught him in his arms but Ethan didn't like it and tried to move away from the man but the man held him tight, not allowing him to go.

"Get your hands off me!" Ethan yelled. As much as he tried toove away, he was too drunk and exhausted. Totally becoming vulnerable.

"I can't. You're too handsome," the man whispered and pinned Ethan to the wall. "I can't leave you, not until I have my way with you!"

The man was pretty strong, he held Ethan firmly with one hand and used the other hand to access Ethan's body. He went straight to the belt and unstrapped it but just when he was about to carry out his next plan, someone came from behind and gave him a blow.

The man stumbled backwards. Seeing the young man in white polo and brown pants, he became angry.

"What the fuck is your problem, boy? Or do you want me to fuck you instead?"

Adrian ignored the man and went straight to Ethan, he held him in his arms and was about to leave but the man blocked their paths.

"Where do you think you're going?" The man grunted.

Just then, some men dressed in black suits rushed into the place.

"Boss!"

They all bowed to Adrian.

Adrian glared at the stubborn man. "If he doesn't want to leave in peace, make him leave in pieces."

"Yes sir!"

Adrian left with Ethan in his arms, he carried him past two hallways.

"Wh-where are you taking me to? Who are you?" Ethan mumbled.

Adrian said nothing until he arrived at the room. He swiped his card over the door and pushed it open, then he went inside.

Inside the dimly lit room, Adrian pushed Ethan into the bed.

"What are you doing to me?" Ethan mumbled.

Adrian smirked for the first time since. "Aren't you suffering from a heartbreak. Want me to make you forget about your ex?"

He glanced at the table, then saw a bottled drink and a short paper. He went there and picked the paper up. "Take the honey water and go back home." The letter was short but Ethan already knew who the letter was from. "Ah, damn it!" He grunted. He then remembered everything that he did last night. This made him regret coming to the bar in the first place. But another part of him was happy because he ended up sleeping in Adrian's room and not some stranger's own. He slide the paper into his pocket, then took the honey water and drank it all. After that, he grabbed his car keys which was on the table and left the room. Outside the door, a man in suit was standing there. Seeing Ethan come out of the room, the man turned and lowered his head. "Good morning, sir." "Who are you?" Ethan asked, frowning. "My boss a

Ethan leaned back against the chair, his fingers tapping lightly against the wooden table as his eyes wandered around the lively bar. Loud music echoed through the room while laughter and conversations blended into one another. Couples danced under the colorful lights, completely immersed in their own little world. Yet Ethan felt strangely out of place. He let out a quiet sigh. "One day..." he muttered under his breath. "I'm going to leave all of this behind." He narrowed his gaze. "The Sinclair Group, the title of heir, the expectations... All of it." Ethan didn't want any of them. All he wants is a peaceful life where he could write stories without anyone deciding his future for him. "...Your drink." A gentle voice interrupted his thoughts. Ethan looked up. The bar-boy had returned, carrying a crystal glass filled with a pale blue liquid. Tiny ice cubes floated inside while thin wisps of cold mist curled over the rim of the glass. He gently placed the drink on the table. "Sw

Adrian was the last to come out, he was carrying a box containing his documents. Despite the whispers and low curses, he held his head high as he walked through the crowd. "You deserve to be punished!" "Evil man!" "Serves him right!" The moment Ethan saw him, he forgot the fact that he was in public. "Mr. Adrian!" He called. Adrian stopped in his tracks the moment he heard the familiar voice. Evelyn wanted to stop Ethan from going but before the word would leave her mouth, Ethan was already gone. She could only watch helplessly as her son rushed over to the other man. "Mr. Adrian," Ethan called as he neared Adrian. "What are you doing here?" Adrian asked with a slight frown.
