Chapter 6

Author: Peachy
The image in the mirror silenced the entire hall.

It was Elena, chained in a dark dungeon.

She knelt on the cold stone floor, silver chains cutting into her wrists, blood trickling down her pale skin. The poison of the 'Bone-Gnawing Silver' sent spasms through her body, but she clenched her jaw, refusing to make a sound.

The nobles watched in shock. That was the princess of the Moonlight Clan, heir to one of North America's most ancient bloodlines.

Then, Chloe’s voice echoed from the mirror:

"Home?" I let out a soft laugh that echoed in the vast hall. "Julian, where exactly do you think my home is?""North America. Our clan. Our—""Our what?" I cut him off. "Our past? Our pain? Our betrayal?"Julian squeezed his eyes shut in agony. "Elena, I know I hurt you, but I love you! It has always been you I love!""Love?" I stood, the Ring of Evernight flashing in the light. "Which version of me did you love? The one kneeling on silver plates? Or the one you tortured with holy water?""No! Elena, look at me!" he shrieked, his voice cracking. "I gave you justice! I'm the one who threw Chloe to the Council! I watched them sentence her to the Blood-Strip. I watched her die for you, Elena! Isn't that enough?"I looked at his crazed, desperate face, so proud of his offering, and I scoffed."You sacrificed a pathetic human girl to absolve yourself," I said, my voice dripping with ice. "Don't you dare call it justice. You used her as a scapegoat to silence your own guilt. The only person

I looked into Damien’s confused eyes, a warmth spreading through my chest."Because you are the first to give my bloodline the respect it's due," I answered, my voice quiet but firm.He stared for a moment, then gave a bitter smile. "Just for respect?""In North America, I was a tool," I said, sitting up, feeling the sting in my shoulder. "Used, betrayed, and sent here as a sacrifice. But you are different.""I'm the first to treat you like a queen?""Yes." I looked at him. "And so, my blood chose to protect you."Damien was silent for a long time. Finally, he stood."In that case, I should return the favor." He walked to an ancient safe. "Give me your hand."I held out my hand. He gently took my wrist, then used a small silver knife to slice open his own palm.Deep red blood dripped onto my wound.Instantly, a powerful energy surged into me."Is this… Source Blood?" I asked, shocked."The Source Blood of the Evernight Monarch," he said, his voice low and serious. "It will awaken what'

A hundred units of pureblood should be enough for you to 'take care' of her."The hall erupted in outrage."Julian? He doesn't love her! He approved this, didn't he? He wants her punished. Now do as I say. He won't care what you do to her."Chloe’s face went white as a sheet."This is impossible—" She tried to speak, but Julian shoved her away."Enough," Julian’s voice was as sharp as a blade. "Everyone has now heard the truth.""Jul

"Give me the memory crystal." Julian’s voice was as cold as a polar wind. The scar-faced vampire shakily pulled a crystal pulsing with faint blue light from his coat."My lord, it recorded everything that happened that night. We were going to keep it… as a souvenir—"Julian snatched the crystal and activated it.An image of Elena, chained in a cellar, appeared on its surface. She was kneeling on the cold stone floor, silver chains digging deep into her wrists. Even in the agony of the 'Bone-Gnawing Silver,' she clenched her jaw and refused to make a sound.A tearing pain ripped through Julian’s chest as he watched the proud, defiant figure."Continue," he commanded. The scene shifted. Chloe appeared."Remember, make her understand who the mistress of this house is," Chloe told the scarred vampire, her expression vicious and twisted. "A hundred units of pureblood should be enough for you to 'take care' of her.""Lady Chloe, Lord Julian only asked us to scare her—""Julian? He doesn't lo

"Her choice?" Julian's voice was sharp with disbelief. "Victor, you're lying!"Victor watched him calmly. "Elena sealed the pact with her own blood. It was her decision.""Besides," Victor strolled to the liquor cabinet, pouring a glass of blood wine. "Elena is gone. It's time to secure your future. A marriage pact with Chloe is the logical next step. The girl is devoted to you.""You're insane!" Julian roared. "I'm flying to Europe. Now!""No."A commanding voice came from the hall's entrance.Julian's father—Marcus, the Blackstone Clan Leader—strode in, followed by four of his elite guard."Father?" Julian frowned. "What are you doing here?""I'm stopping you from getting yourself killed," Marcus said, his eyes chips of ice. "You do not provoke the Evernight Empire. Ever.""Elena is there!""That is her fate." Marcus waved a hand. "Take the Young Lord back to his quarters."The four guards immediately moved to restrain Julian."Let me go!" Julian struggled wildly, but the Blackstone

Icy liquid choked its way down my throat. It dragged me back to consciousness. My eyes flew open. I was chained in a dark, underground cell. The air was thick with a dizzying, sweet aroma—the River of Forgetfulness, an expensive incense used to weaken a vampire’s power and senses."Awake, are we?" a strange voice rasped. "You have a stubborn bloodline."I tried to fight my chains, but my body was terrifyingly weak.A vampire with a scarred face walked toward me, his eyes gleaming with madness.“A Rogue?” I recognized the brand on his forehead. “You were exiled. What are you doing here?”“Money,” he sneered. "Someone paid a fortune for this. To teach the Moonlight princess her place."He dragged me to the center of the cell, forced my mouth open, and poured a vial of silver liquid down my throat—Bone-Etching Silver. It wasn't lethal. But the silver would ignite in my veins. An agony like a thousand needles stabbing my bones.“No!” I struggled, but the pain exploded through me.I collaps
