Chapter 1

Years back when Jezzebelle was at the age of 7 everything was perfect.

“Daddy Daddy! Daddy is here mommy!

Jezzebelles black hair bounced and floated around her as she ran to her father who was getting out of a car door that was being held by the driver. Like her he had black hair, his hair was never pulled back like most of the ancients who sat on their thrones advising the king. His blue eyes if you paid a attention had three shades of blue in them.

            As a vampire you get special abilities and one of them was the ability to see in the dark. They can walk in the sun but at a cost. Powers were reduced to a minimum, and being burnt easy was not fun. So most stick to the night.

            Lazarus D’aramitz got on his knees and held out his arms as his first born came running to him. He lifted up his baby girl and gave her a hug.

            Another shrill came from the house causing Lazarus to turn. Annabelle came running down the sidewalk and wrapped her arms around her fathers legs.

“Daddy its been a while we missed you.” Anna exclaimed with excitement.

“I know sweetheart, I am sorry work just gets to me sometimes and I forget the day and time.”

Smiling at both of his daughters, he then placed Jezzebelle down on the sidewalk.

“ I am actually here to speak with your mother. Is she busy at the moment?”

Smiling very sadly, Jezzebelle looked at her little sister and then back at her father.

“She’s not busy, she was just making dinner is all.”

Laughing at his daughters, he shook his head

“So she is busy, this is going to make a lovely visit. Show me the way girls.”

Anna smiled and grabbed her older sisters hand and they both went into the house, their father trailed right behind them.

The house itself was elegant. It had over 30 acres of land which was mostly wooded, a big barn was situated outside of the house itself. The house was two floors with four bedrooms on second along with two bathrooms. The first floor had a beautiful study that was loaded with books and a beautiful wooden oak, there was a bathroom that was just off of the study that was huge. The kitchen was medium size but had granite tops, the dinning room was right off of the kitchen and was presented with a oval wooden table with six chairs around it. There was a sitting room off of the kitchen and the living room had a wood stove to keep the house warm. There was a basement with an added bedroom for guests but no bathroom.

     Lilly was cooking dinner for the girls, when she noticed Lazarus was walking with the girls.

“Dinner is almost done ladies. Please take a seat at the table and I will hand you your plates.”

She eyed Lazarus, her fury very much showed along with agitation.

“What do you want?”

Lazarus watched as his children sat at the table. He then heard footsteps and saw Abby and Kaitlyn walking down the stairs and heading towards him.  The two stop and did a little curtsy, showing the respect to the ancient even though they were just 6 years old.

“Your radiance it is nice to see you.”

Lazarus smiled and nodded to the girls.

“It is nice to see you girls as well but you know the rules when I am here visiting there is no need to curtsy.”

He smiled at them and then turned to Lilly.

“We really need to talk.”

Lily looked at him once more with disgust.

“Fine but let me at least feed my children.”

Lily filled four plates full of the food she had made for them, she took her time as she did not care for Lazarus’s uncalled visit. She was displeased because it could only mean one thing. The king has decreed either another law or wants something. Watching the girls eat she looked at Lazarus.

“Where would you like to have this talk.”

Looking at Lily, he smiled.

“Lets let the girls eat in peace and go down the basement where they don’t need to hear the conversation.’

Sighing once more Lilly went down the hallway to the door that lead to the basement. Opening the door they both descended down the stairs. Walking to the couch she put her hand on it.

“Ok so what do you want. You haven’t visited in over a year and all of a sudden you just pop out of the dark to come visit.”

Lazarus gave her a sad smile and took a seat at the bar that was across from the couch.

Turning around to face the wall he took a breath and told her why he was here.

“The king is demanding the girls, all four of them, not just ours, are to go to Bloodred Private Academy when they reach the age appropriate which is 12. He is how do I say this without starting a fight between us…….stating that the half breeds are still included and could go through the transformation around the age of 15 and does not want to risk that factor of them changing causing a ruckus putting the vampire community at risk of being discovered…”

“Being discovered, was it not him who demanded you stay away from your own daughters!’

“Lilly please do not start this.”

“Calling your own daughters an abominations from hell because they did not have full blooded vampires on BOTH SIDES!”

Lillys voice boomed through the whole house. This was why she was mad, the dang blasted king was a cold heart bastard that only cared about the purity of vampires and rarely liked the idea of a half-blood walking through his precious society he would rather keep silent in the dark.

“Please Lilly do not start this fight all over again. He is just upset that I choose a witch who has ties to another court. Otherwise he would not have an issue with the girls. We might get lucky and the strain that is passed through each generation it might have....”

Lilly didn’t give him another moment to speak she was so furious. She loved the man with all of her heart but he choose his side and it was a side he was not willing to give up so easy. As one of the 20 who advise the king in decisions and the oldest one at that. He even outranks Vlad. There was rumors that he was the first amongst vampires not to mention he was over a couple thousand years old.

Walking up the basement stairs she pushed the door open and walked down the hallway towards her girls. Lazarus appeared before her within seconds.

“I was not done talking to you.”

“Well I am, I will not have this conversation anymore.”

“Can’t we come to a conclusion, I don’t want to go back with nothing to show. Lily I am begging you just this once, and plus it might be better that the children are being watched just in case of the Change does happen. I would not want any of the children running rampant and killing you in the…”

“ My children are not a piece of meat to be hung in front of that society. Hell half of them do not even see the children as vampires just a mistake to be wiped from existence and you want them to join that ridiculous excuse of a scho….”

Before Lilly could go any further a small hand stopped her from going further. Lilly looked down and saw her eldest holding her hand and giving her the smile that said everything. “Mommy daddy is only trying to do what he knows is best. Can you not come up with a compromise.” Lily sighed and picked up her eldest who was looking in between both of them. “You were listening to our conversation wasn’t you Belle?” Jezzebelle blushed and shook her head yes. “ I am sorry mommy kind of hard not to hear you when I have very good hearing.” Lazarus threw his head back roaring with laughter showing his fangs at the same time. “ I swear she’s not only your child but is also mine. Tsk tsk Jezzebelle for snooping on mommy and daddy’s conversation.”

Belle looked down at the floor smiling, Lazarus caught the grin as she did it. She then lifted her head up and smiled. “Daddy I have an idea, and please bring it up to the King.” Lazarus got on his knees, facing his daughter so that his blue eyes were looking right at her own blue eyes. Her blue eyes were normal like any humans but his eyes had three different blue colors because of the age of a vampire something about the higher in power the more things he can see at a fast pace.

“Daddy I believe it is in best for both parties that Me, Ana, and the other girls go to this school. It is that we don’t want to but we need to just in case we go through the change.”

Taking a deep breath he looked at his daughter and shook his head. “You are right about that my dear daughter. I am not asking your mother to move mountains I just need her to understand that this isn’t the end of the world and that you girls will be in a very much watched area if anything pops up. There will be people who would help you instead of you being at home by yourself and attacking your mother if you change. Wouldn’t you agree ma petite?”

Smiling she hugged her fathers leg but as she did it her smile went blank even though she was 7 she was smarter than most kids and her thinking skills were more mature than most children. Putting a hand on top of his daughters head he looked at Lilly with a scrawl. “ I promise nothing bad will happen to the girls Lilly. If they do not change by their 16^th birthday and a year goes by then they can return to the human world with no attachments to the  vampire world. Will this work for you?” Lily went to the kitchen sink, placing both of her hands on the lip of the sink, looking down she just stared into nothingness. She knows how this will go. In a couple of years her girls will go thru some harsh training. She knew they had to go.

Taking a very deep breathe , Lily slowly opened her eyes she then spoke. “I will allow them to go once they turn thirteen. The rest I would like to talk to the king in person. If possible.”

Lazarus took a deep breath and then smiled “ I will tell the king the plan, and the girls will start elementary school with the others.”

Smiling once more he bowed to his little girls and started to walk out the front of door but stopped and turned around to glance at his little children. Anna, Kaitlyn, Abby were crying but Jezzebelle was just standing with her head down in grief.  Taking one last glance of his family, Lazarus swept his cape over his shoulder and disappeared into the night.
