Chapter 39 Fireflies

As our lips parted, we both burst into laughter, our eyes twinkling with amusement. It was a beautiful sight to see, our laughter mingling in the air, filling the kitchen with joy.

"Mia, your power has an impressive way of keeping me on my toes all the time.” Jonathan said, still chuckling.

"Well, what can I say? I have to keep the immortal vampire entertained somehow.” I replied, playfully poking his side.

He feigned offence, placing a hand over his heart. "Am I not entertaining enough for you, my angel?"

I leaned closer, a mischievous glint in my eyes. "Oh, you're plenty entertaining, my vampire. But a little supernatural mischief never hurt anyone."

He raised an eyebrow, a smirk forming on his lips. "Is that so? Well, I suppose I'll have to come up with a few tricks of my own then."

I laughed, knowing he was just as capable of surprising me with his vampire abilities. "Bring it on, vampire. I'm ready for anything."
