Chapter 8: Portal to Paris

“Wait, how did you do that?” I asked Helion while looking at my uncle having dinner with the woman in a restaurant, amazed and dumbfounded.

Helion smirked proudly.

“You are so good in matchmaking. Are you a deity of love or are somewhat like cupid?”

He laughed and shook his head. “Cupid? No, Katherine. That is the last identity I would like to have. I’d rather be a lowly angel of death than play that role. Being a matchmaker of humans is tiresome. And I don’t want to see people having successful love life because of me when I’m not fond of romance myself.”

We left the restaurant and walked along the street. I couldn’t help but smile thinking that Uncle will be in good place when I’m gone. There’s no point in being sad with my fate anyway. I’m happy enough to leave my Uncle in happiness. Sure, he would grieve for me, but he will get past it. Someone will be there to help him cope up. And it’s okay that he would forget about me. He should live the life I snatched from him.
