Erico's POV

She's going to get herself killed.

I stood alone in the surveillance room, a cheap cigar burning between my fingers, watching Bianca on the screen as she sat in that war room long after I left. Still trembling. Still staring at her mother's photo like it would speak.

Antonio was careless to keep those files out. Stupid, even. But he underestimated his daughter.

He still thought of her as a girl.

I knew better.

She wasn't just fire—she was volatile. Explosive. And far too close to unraveling everything I was here to observe.

I tapped the ash tray once, hard. Vincenzo had warned me: get close, earn Antonio's trust, track his alliances, and leave the daughter alone.

But the daughter wasn't staying out of it.

The file she read—if she decoded it properly—it would only be a matter of time before she realized the Russians had been a scapegoat. That her father's war wasn't about vengeance—it was about power.

And worse, that the man she wanted to kill, Violet Siankovski's daughter,

*Bianca's POV* The ink had begun to fade on the flight record, but the name still bled through like an old wound:Daniella Romano. Not Violet. Not Konstantin. Not any of the Siankovskis I'd grown to loathe. This name was unfamiliar. Unspoken. Forgotten. But somehow—central.I stared at the grainy surveillance photo clipped beside the record. A woman in a scarf, exiting a private jet at a small airstrip near Saint Petersburg. The date was exactly one week after my mother's death. Her face was mostly obscured—but there was something about her posture. The tension in her shoulders. The way her hand curled protectively around the little girl clinging to her side. That child...The curls. The height. The tilt of the chin.It couldn't be—But it was.Violet.Years younger. But unmistakable.I sank onto the edge of the couch, staring at the image. What the hell was going on?Violet had grown up in Russia? With this woman—Daniella? Why was she never mentioned? Not by my father. Not by the co

  • Blood and Loyalty   Chapter 24

*Bianca's POV*The estate had grown quieter since the Mirazza attack. Not in the comforting way that comes after danger passes, but in the suffocating hush that follows a funeral no one admits is happening. The guards were tenser. Clara avoided my eyes when I passed her in the hallway. My father had retreated into his study, locked behind wood and whiskey. Matteo hovered, smug and smugger, like he knew something I didn't.And Alessandro—He was colder than usual, if that was even possible. Since the ambush, he'd followed me like a silent shadow, never speaking unless necessary, never looking at me longer than he had to. But I felt the difference. There was distance now.And I hated it.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -I returned to the east wing just after midnight. It was the only time no one dared step near it. Not the maids. Not the guards. Not even the rats.My fingers moved quickly across the old lock, the one I'd learned to pick two years ago while pretendin

  • Blood and Loyalty   Chapter 23

*Bianca's POV*The smoke was still rising when we returned. The sun hadn't yet cleared the eastern cliffs, and already the Mirazza estate looked like the corpse of a kingdom—blackened, broken, and oddly still. Windows gaped like shattered eyes. Half the eastern wing had collapsed. Charred marble columns leaned like dying soldiers. It smelled of fire, ash, and blood. Two armored vehicles met us at the gate. Our insignia painted across the doors, flashing silver in the dawn.My father stepped out of the first one.Antonio Romano, Mafia Don. A man who rarely showed anger unless it served a purpose.Right now, he looked livid. And I wasn't sure if it was because I was alive—or because I'd survived something he hadn't orchestrated.-----------------------------------------------"Where the hell were you?" he snapped the moment I stepped out.Beside me, Alessandro moved subtly closer. Just enough to remind everyone that I wasn't unguarded."I was avoiding being blown up," I said flatly. "Yo

  • Blood and Loyalty   Chapter 22

*Bianca's POV*He held me like I was something worth losing. Not as a soldier securing an asset. Not as a bodyguard doing his job. But as a man fighting the war inside himself. My cheek rested against his chest, the rhythm of his heartbeat thudding hard and fast beneath his shirt. I should've pulled away. I should've said something sharp and bitter. But I didn't.I stayed, just for a moment."Let go," I whispered. His grip didn't loosen. "Not yet."A beat passed. Then another. And then everything shattered. The windows exploded inward.Glass and smoke rained down like hail. I felt the sting across my arms before I even registered what had happened.Alessandro shoved me to the floor, covering me with his body as a roar filled the air — a pulse of fire and pressure that seemed to come from every direction.A second explosion rocked the compound. This time, it wasn't an accident. This was war.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - *Erico's POV*Too coordinated.Too fast. Not Russian

*Bianca's POV*The knock on my door came at dawn. Two short, precise raps—no hesitation, no courtesy.I already knew who it was.I'd barely slept, wrapped in tangled sheets and sharp thoughts. Alessandro's voice from last night still echoed in my head: "I don't. But orders are orders."Liar.I opened the door slowly, expecting the familiar wall of muscle and ice.Instead, I found Dominic."The Don wants to see you," he said, stepping back like I might bite him. "Pack a bag. You're leaving in an hour.""Leaving?""For the Mirazza compound."I blinked. "The one near the coast?"He nodded. "There's a diplomatic event. Your father needs you there as a presence. You and—""Alessandro," I finished flatly."Of course."Because who else would he send to babysit me now?---------------------The ride took nearly two hours. Two long, uncomfortable hours trapped in the backseat of a black Range Rover beside the man who made silence louder than a gunshot. He sat like a statue, eyes fixed ahead, b

  • Blood and Loyalty   Chapter 20

*Bianca's POV* The silence in the estate had changed. It wasn't peace. It was waiting. Clara wouldn't look me in the eyes. The guards stood a little straighter when I passed. My father hadn't spoken to me since the night of the gathering. Even Matteo was unusually quiet-his gaze lingering too long, like he was sizing me up. And Alessandro.... He was everywhere and nowhere. He didn't speak to me. Didn't walk behind me like usual. But I felt him. I always did. Like a storm humming beneath stone. It had been two days since I slipped out. Two days since I returned with answers that tasted like gasoline on my tongue. My mother wanted to run. The Russians were involved. And someone inside my father's circle was a threat. But I needed more. I needed proof. So I set my trap. ----------------------------------------------------- The café in downtown Palermo was small, tucked between a bookstore and a jeweler, both run by old allies of the Romano family. Safe enough to attr
