Chapter four

Her eyes stared at the masked man in front of her, with her glass frozen an inch from her mouth. She did not know why but she felt like she had met him before. “Have we met?” She asked him to confirm as her eyes peered at the slits to find his eyes.

He was staring at her, unmoving and his eyes were hidden pretty well by the diamond-shaped designed mask. If one was to take off his mask, they would notice the slight smile on his face.

“Probably .” He simply said and extend his hand again. “A dance?” He repeated and she took hold of his.

Madison grabbed a mask from a tray and wore it on. Maybe this dance was her ticket to leave this God-forsaken place and go where she could be alone.

She followed him to the dance floor and placed a hand on his shoulder. She was quite nervous, as she had never done this before. This was her first time, and she didn't want to embarrass herself.

Her eyes scrutinized the hall and she could see that chase's bodyguards were no longer with their dance partners. They were looking for her and she loved it. She quickly spun to use her masked stranger as a cover.

“Are you hiding from someone?” He asked her with a deep voice. It sounded like music to her ears and was almost like the...

“You can tell me.” He assured her, as he wrapped his hand around her waist. His face leaned close to hers and it felt like he was staring at her.

Madison had wanted to say something but his assurance had taken her unawares. His touch sent a tingling sensation down her spine and it was almost unbearable.

She didn't want this dance to stop, no, she didn't want this feeling to go away. Her eyes were glued to his face and she couldn't help but feel like taking off the damn mask from his face.

“Yes... ” She simply said to him. Now she felt stupid and cheap. Who falls for a man that refuses to reveal his face and had decided to keep it a mystery?

“Mmmm." He just mumbled and led her to the midst of dancers, as they danced.

“What are you doing? ” Madison asked with almost a giggle. She knew what her mysterious dancer was trying to do. He was trying to hide her amongst other dancers.

“Shielding you of course. Now, are you better? ” He asked her and his hand went to her waist again.

She chuckled and looked at him. Giving him a nod, she wrapped her hand around his neck. “Thank you.” She said to him.

They were both being swayed by the slow jazz music from the speakers and right at that moment, Madison felt like she was the fantasy princess Cinderella and he was her prince charming.

She had never felt so alive like this in two months. Her eyes were glued to him and she couldn't take them off. Why does he have to hide his face?

“You dance really well.” He told her and she was shocked. She had no idea that she hadn't missed a step or made a mistake in her dance. Her eyes were glued to his face, and she had no idea what was happening around them and was following his steps.

“Thanks .” She smiled and now she couldn't take it anymore. “Can I make a request? ” she asked him nervously, as she began to slow down.

“Mmmm." He mumbled with a nod and stared at her.

“Can I see your face? ” She asked him and swallowed. She did not know what he would say and honestly, she didn't feel like she would love to hear his reply.

Silence fell upon the two as they both stopped dancing. Looking down at her, he leaned closer. “Trust me, it's best you don't.” He assured her and led her back toward her seat.

“Are you upset?” She asked him, worried that she must have said something.

“I'm not." He told her and stood in front of her. “I can help you escape if you want.” He told her as he stared at her.

Now she felt torn. One part of her wanted to say yes and run straight out those doors, sprinting towards freedom while the other part protested, reminding her of the consequences.

“I’m ... Fine." She said with much difficulty as she felt a pain in her chest. She had initially planned to use the dance as a means to run but now, she couldn't consider running as an option. She could but she won't.

“Ok .” The man said and began to walk away from her table.

“Wait !" She said, stopping him. “When can I see you again?” she asked him and was shocked by her utterance. She couldn't believe that out of all the questions she had to ask, she asked a total stranger this.

“One day .” He simply said and walked away.

She was still standing there and watched as he walked right out the door. Somehow, she felt like he did not come for the club but for a reason, but why?

She did not see him come with any woman or for anything like chase just did. Who was this mysterious man and why was he so...

“Who was that?” An icy cold voice asked her from behind, startling her.

She spun around, to see chase staring at her with pure rage in his eyes. He looked like he was about to murder someone and she was scared by the feeling she got from him.

“Who...” He started and gripped her shoulder tightly, staring into her eyes, not minding where they both were.

“Was...” He continued as his grip tightened and she began to wince from the pain he was inflicting on her.

“He?” He ended while still staring into her eyes, with pure and unimaginable anger.

“Chase, you are hurting me..." Madison complained as she closed her eyes and pressed her lips together to suppress the scream that wanted to come out.

“Answer me!!" He yelled loudly, which attracted the attention of some of the people in the bar.

He slowly released his grip and grabbed her hand. “We are leaving.” He said and they walked right outside, towards his limo. He was really upset and Madison was loving it. If she can't leave him, he can and she would do it.

********************

Sitting by the side of a pool and being attended to by half-naked ladies, an old man in a red robe was been fed with grapes and some of the ladies either massaged him or sat at his feet, laughing at the jokes he would make often now and then.

He was the all ruthless and powerful billionaire. Mr. Brian seemed happy as he just lay on the chair, with guards around.

He had a small pot belly and a few white strands of hair on his head. His face had few to no wrinkles and he had blue eyes. His lips were thin and pale.

Mr. Brian lost his wife three months after the birth of his son. His wife died from trauma, as the doctor said. He was a womanizer and had his ways with many women he came across.

He knew he was the reason for the death of his wife and had promised her countless times, that he would change. His wife's death created a hole in his heart but this hole did not last long, as he picked up on his habits and continued.

Why kill yourself for someone who isn't going to be there? So he would say to himself. He was not the type of father anyone could wish for, because he never had time for his son.

He would give him money but he and his son never spent quality time together. They were always there and yet they were always far from each other.

He had always promised chase to make up to him, ever since chase was little but he never fulfilled any of the promises made.

With no one to guide him and no father to make him feel loved, little chase picked after his father's habit and began to womanize. He was very handsome and extremely rich, so getting a woman wasn't a challenge for him.

Chase was once a pornstar but had decided to quit after he met Madison. One would wonder why a very wealthy man, would want to be a pornstar but chase had always wanted to make money on his own and he ventured into porn as he felt it wasn't that hard.

“Do you know I have an estate in Los Angeles, California, Australia, and Italy?” Mr. Brian asked the ladies as they paid rapt attention to him. He seemed intoxicated as he was smiling sheepishly.

He gestured at one of the ladies to feed him the grapes and she obliged. His eyes scrutinized her body and he smiled. “Don't be shy. ” He told her and ate the grape from her hand. “Was that bad? ” He asked her and she slowly shook her head with a smile.

“Feed me.” He said again, as she was about to sit with the other ladies. His eyes were constantly observing her face and the rest of the ladies giggled.

She picked up the grape and proceeded to put it in his mouth, but he did not open it. She looked at him and followed his train of sight. She put the grape in her mouth and he smiled.

The ladies watched in anticipation, as the girl inched closer to the old man on the bed. Their eyes almost bulged out from their sockets.

“Father. ” However, Chase's sudden arrival had disrupted everything. He looked really upset as he stood before the ladies and stared at his father. “A word. ” He added his two hands behind his back.

“Ugh!” The old man grunted as he looked equally annoyed. “Alright ladies, playtime's over... Maybe some other time,” he added and they dispersed.

“What do you want now, son? ” he asked as he propped himself up and lighted a cigar. Taking in a whiff, he puffed out the smoke. “I'm a busy man... Ain't got all day, so just go straight to the point,” he said.

“It's Madison. ” Chase complained, as he stared at his father.

“Ugh! Tell me something I don't know. ” The old man said and leaned back on his chair. “What's up with you and that Madison girl? There are other fishes in the sea, son,” he said and puffed out another smoke.

“She's cheating on me father. ” Chase added and glanced at his father.

“And what has that got to do with me? " Mr. Brian asked with a questioning look as he stared at his son for answers.

“I took her to a club and I saw her flirting with a man,” he added and looked at his father again.

Mr. Brian snickered and dropped his cigar on a tray. “And you don't? ” he asked his son, while still snickering.

“That's not funny Dad. I'm a man and I have the right to do whatever I want. I don't need just one woman and you know that. On the other hand, Madison is my fiancee and she's the reason I stopped acting. I should be the only man she looks at and... ” he said and stopped as he noticed he had gotten his father's attention.

“She's a woman and so she's meant to be submissive to her man, father. ” he ended and his father slowly nodded.

“So what's your request? What do you want me to do?” his father asked him.

“I hate it when she stares at other men. She was flirting with a man right in front of me, and I hated it,” he said and stared at him. He looked really angry and the vein trying to pop out of his forehead proved it.

“I want him dead. ”
