“What about your son? You don't want to see him again?” I froze, his voice dipped even lower. “You'd really let your sister win? And let Zade leave you like that? You are easier than I thought.” I shook my head slowly. “It's pointless. No one would believe me. They never have.” Caspian leaned closer. “What if we signed a deal?” *** Branded a traitor by the pack she bled for, Nyx is betrayed by the sister she once protected and discarded by the mate who swore eternity at her feet. Stripped of her title, her son torn from her arms, she’s dragged away in chains and sold like livestock to a rogue Alpha who sees her as nothing more than a pawn. But fate has other plans. Nyx's Pov Keira looked my way, a sly grin playing at the edge of her lips as she raised a DNA test mockingly. ‘’So sister, your child is a bastard?’’ Murmurs erupted in the room as they looked at me accusingly. “Keira! What are you saying?! Liam is Zade’s and my son. What are you talking about?’’ I whisper-yelled, trying to brush away the attention of the crowd. “Oh Pleasee.. Do you think we are stupid?! Every single one of these people have trusted you to uphold your duty as Luna. But instead, you gave the Alpha a bastard for a son’’ I chuckled nervously. “Stop creating a scene, Keira. Zade knows Liam is his son. And this is not the time for this. We are here to celebrate your return not question the paternity of my son.’’ “Keira is right!’’ A deep guttural voice bloomed, bringing the murmurs to a halt. Everyone's head whipped in the direction of the door where Zade walked in, a glass of wine curled up in his hands. My ears rang painfully as I stared at him in shock. “Zade, how could you say that? Liam is your son and you know it!’’ I rubbed at the hem of my dress, nervousness sipping in. Some of the guests pointed mocking fingers at me, each questioning my fidelity. But Zade’s opinion was the only one that mattered. I ran towards him, hoping he’d at least believe me. “Pleasee’’ I pleaded with wide eyes, searching for any hint of doubt, even if it was the tiniest bit. “Liam is your son. You know it. You were there when I gave birth to him 2 months ago. You can’t believe any of this’’ He stared down at me irritation marring his features. For the first time since he stepped into the room, he stared at me. And he wasn’t the man I remembered. This man standing before me was devoid of any emotion. His dark eyes left mine and faced the room instead. “She gave birth to a bastard for the Crescent moon pack. And according to the elders, it’s against the rule.’’ “Please Zade. You have to believe me. Please…’’ I whispered, tears trickling down my eyes like a dam had broken. “You are nothing but filth Nyx. I’m ashamed to call you my sister. Look how you’ve disgraced Alpha Zade’s reputation. For what? You can’t keep your legs closed?’’ Keira mocked. I ignored her and turned to zade who was now staring at me. For a moment, I thought his gaze softened. I thought somewhere in his heart, he believed me. We had been married for a year and I carried and delivered his child safely. I thought his silence meant that he was considering his own intuition. But then his gaze hardened again and he turned back to the crowd. “I hereby denounce Nyx as the Luna of Crescent moon pack. She has brought shame to me and to the entire pack members and I’m afraid she can no longer bear the position of my Luna anymore. As tradition calls for, I am to find a new Luna and mate to bear the responsibility of the pack.’’ He paused and pulled Keira closer. I held my breath awaiting his next words as I stared at them acting all intimate in my presence. After Keira’s arrival, she was only allowed in the pack house strictly by my invitation. How did she get so close to Zade in minutes? I wasn’t sure if I was missing something or I was just overthinking things. I carefully rose to my feet, my ears straining to hear the next words that’d drop from Zade’s mouth. “Meet your new Luna, Keira.’’ I froze, my heart racing. How could he discard me and take her in so fast? The thoughts that this wasn’t about me bearing a child for someone else starts to creep in and the tears I so badly wanted to hold in fell. Was this all planned? Has Zade been having an affair with Keira behind my back? He had promised to make me his Luna a year ago to keep his position and keep me by his side too. I watched the love I had for him before and after our marriage, crumble to the ground. He solely confessed to Keira right in front of everyone. “And, she has been the one I fell in love with from the moment I was born a leader. She's my true mate and your Luna.” I fell to the ground. Realization hitting harder than I could take. “So to you Nyx…” he knelt to the ground and lifted my chin “You're no longer needed. Considering your stupidity all these years to think I'd actually love you? Tch! In your dreams.” Tears slowly dropped from my eyes, his words crushing my bone and cutting my heart in pieces. “You were only married to me because Keira needed her college certification, and you? You just wanted to be a house wife but you failed. So Liam is indeed mine and that's why I'm going to keep him.” He grinned. “What?” My voice was barely audible. “You...you can't take my son, he's mine too.” I protested. I reached for his tunic but he shoved me to the ground. Pain shot through my ankle as I landed hard. Gasps echoed around us, but no one moved to help. “You touch me again, and I'll have you hanged.” His voice was cold, it was nothing short of disapproval. Tears burned down my cheeks. Zade never loved me, he only needed an heir and I provided one. And now his true love is back and I was disposable. I looked up to Keira, her smile wide enough to show how excited she was. The last time we spoke over the phone before she arrived was when I gave birth. She said and I quote, “I'm so happy for you, Nyx. At least letting go of college does pay off. You've got a man that loves you and now you have a child” She said those words and I believed she was there for me. I believed every action of Zade and the love he showed, perhaps the one he pretended to show. The man I once loved, betrayed me. Anger coursed through my veins. I lunged towards them, yelling and screaming. “You…bastard.” I smacked and bit hard on them, as much as I could. Keira shoved me to the ground after she managed to pull my hand away from her hair. I was held too tight to be satisfied. I was far too broken now. It was petty and foolish, but it was the only thing I could control. “Lock her up! She doesn't deserve to be among us anymore.” Zade ordered. The guards seized me instantly, yanking me away as I screamed, kicked and begged “Zade! Give me back my son.” My screams echoed through the pack compound. I was dragged like a criminal and thrown into a cold lightless room. A cage for low ranked rogues.Nyx's Pov Ryker’s face looked surprised to see me. His eyes scanned behind me quickly, like he expected someone to be with me, and then he pulled me inside without another word. “How are you here, Nyx?” he asked quietly, closing the door. I looked at him, uneasy. “I… I needed to clear my head. Is something wrong? Where’s your family? Where’s your wife and your daughter?” He guided me to the small couch in his living room. The house looked the same, but quieter. He sat down across from me, his hands trembling slightly. “They’re safe, Nyx,” he said after a long pause. “I’m just surprised to see you.” I frowned. His voice was steady, but his body wasn’t. I saw the way his fingers wouldn’t stay still, the way his shoulders stiffened like he was holding something back. “You’re lying,” I whispered. Ryker froze. I leaned forward, my heart pounding. “What aren’t you telling me? Something’s wrong, isn’t it?” For a moment, he said nothing. Then he sighed and rubbed his face with both
Nyx's Pov Leaving Caspian was the hardest thing I had ever done. And to be honest, I didn’t want to. Every part of me wanted to stay. To run back to him, to tell him that I didn’t need words, that I would settle for his silence if it meant I could keep him. But another part of me knew better. If I stayed, I’d keep second guessing everything. I’d keep wondering if his silence meant he didn’t love me. I’d keep breaking myself against walls that might never come down. So I told myself the truth. I had to leave. That night, long after the lamps had burned low, I rolled my small suitcase out of my room. The sound of the wheels on the floorboards was too loud, too final. My chest hurt with every step. The guards in the hall looked at me, their eyes wide, but none of them moved. They only bowed their heads slightly, stepping aside as if they had been told not to interfere. When I reached the bottom of the stairs, I paused in front of Caspian’s home office. The door was closed, but I
Nyx's Pov I had been waiting for him. All day, I had sat in my room, the silence pressing down on me. His voice at my door earlier had lingered, each word echoing in my head. He had said I meant a lot to him. He had said everything he did, he did because he cared. I wanted to believe him. Gods, I wanted to. But the ache inside me was too deep. My thoughts were too tangled. He didn't say the one thing I needed to hear. When I asked him that question, all I wanted was for him to tell me that he would love me. That he did love me. He had been silent and I had felt like a fool. So I had made a decision. I needed space. Not because I wanted to run, and not because I didn’t care. I cared too much. That was the problem. The feelings I had for Caspian were overwhelming. And I couldn’t tell if what he felt for me was anywhere near the same. I couldn’t stay in this house another day without clarity. I couldn’t stand in front of him, love in my chest and hope in my eyes, only to kee
Caspian's Pov The house was too quiet. It had been like that since the moment Nyx shut the door in my face the night before. I had stood outside her room for hours, talking, apologizing, begging her to answer me. She hadn’t said a single word. I thought maybe she was asleep, but when I carried food up to her door the next morning, I knew she wasn’t. I had left the tray there and walked away, telling myself to give her space. Thirty minutes later, I passed by again and found that the food was untouched. Only the tea cup was missing. Relief had rushed through me at the sight of it. At least she had drunk something. At least she wasn’t starving herself out of anger or pain. But that relief had been thin. It didn’t last long. Because the truth was I had hurt her. I told myself I had done the right thing by keeping quiet, by not letting her know how badly I bargained to bring her here. I thought silence would protect her. I thought sparing her the weight of my sins was better than
Nyx's Pov Guilt spread across his expression like a shadow. His jaw tightened, his eyes softened, but the weight in them gave me the answer I already feared. My chest felt heavy, and I swallowed hard, the words trembling in my throat. “How much, Caspian?” I repeated, sharper this time. He opened his mouth, his voice low. “Nyx…” “No.” I cut him off. I shook my head, my hands curling into fists at my sides. “Don’t call my name like that. Don’t try to soothe me. I need the truth. I need to know. I have a right to know.” His lips pressed together. For a long moment, silence stretched between us, heavy and suffocating. I could hear my own heart beating, each thud a painful reminder of the storm inside me. Finally, he exhaled slowly, his eyes not leaving mine. “When I heard what Zade had done to you,” he said quietly, “I knew I had to get to you. I couldn’t leave you in his hands. Not after what he did. Not after what Draven put you through.” My chest tightened. I forced my voice pa
Nyx's Pov The room felt like it was shrinking, every wall pressing in on me as Liam’s small face lingered in my vision. His eyes. His soft voice. The way he whispered “Mama.” It was etched into me, carved into my soul so deeply it hurt to breathe. And then Kiera stepped forward. Her heels clicked against the polished floor, her smirk pulling at her lips like she had been waiting for this exact moment. “Well, isn’t this something?” she said with a shake of her head. “You are standing here, clutching another man’s hand, while your son looks at you with those sad little eyes.” She tilted her head, feigning pity. “How could you, Nyx? How could you be such a bad mother? You abandoned him.” Her words hit sharp, slicing through the fragile wall I had built inside myself. Rage boiled hot and violent. I scoffed, shaking my head as the laugh left me bitter and raw. “You dare lecture me about being a mother, Kiera?” I hissed, stepping closer, my eyes locked on hers. “You’re one to talk. Do
