I was making my way down the hallway, trying to steady my thoughts, when a sudden shadow blocked my path.

“Going somewhere, human?”

I looked up and saw Zari standing there, flanked by two of her closest friends, their faces twisted with anger and contempt. My stomach sank.

“Zari… I’m just…” I began, but she cut me off with a sharp laugh.

“Don’t play innocent with us! Don’t act like you belong here!” Zari snapped, stepping closer. Her eyes blazed with fury. “You brought danger to this pack. You brought the rogues to us!”

Her friends circled me like predators, their expressions full of distrust and venom.

“You expect us to believe you didn’t lead them here?” one of them hissed. “The Alpha disappears the same day you wander into the forest. Coincidence? I think not.”

I shook my head frantically. “I..I didn’t! I swear! I didn’t even know they were following me!”

Zari’s eyes narrowed. “Lies. Humans always lie. And you’re no exception.” She jabbed her finger sharply against my arm. The tip

  • Bloodline of shadows   CHAPTER THIRTEEN - Whispers of the moon

The night had been restless. Shadows shifted across the walls, twisting with the pale light of the moon. I slept fitfully, tossing and turning, haunted by a dream I couldn’t understand.A soft knock broke through the haze.“Aria?” Mira’s voice called gently. “Are you awake?”I stirred, blinking through the fog of sleep. My body trembled, my forehead damp with sweat. Mira stepped inside immediately, her eyes scanning me with concern.“You’re sweating… shaking,” she murmured, moving closer. “Sit up slowly.”I obeyed, though my hands still trembled. “I… I had a dream,” I whispered, my voice tight. “Someone… someone kept saying… ‘The time has come. The time has come.’ Over and over.”Mira’s expression softened, but her gaze was sharp. She sat beside me and placed a steady hand on my arm. “Tell me everything, Aria. Every detail.”“I’ve had the first dream for a long time,” I told Mira quietly. “It always starts the same way.”I’m standing in a forest that doesn’t feel real. The trees are to

  • Bloodline of shadows   CHAPTER TWELVE- Broken bloodline

The moment we were out of the hallway, away from the eyes and whispers, my legs finally gave out. She caught me instantly, one arm wrapping around my back, the other under my knees.“Easy,” she murmured. “I’ve got you.”I didn’t even protest as she carried me down the quieter corridor. My body felt heavy, exhausted, like all the strength had drained out of me at once. The pack house noises faded behind us, replaced by the soft crackle of herbs and the faint scent of smoke as we entered her quarters. She laid me gently on a low wooden bench near a basin filled with warm water. Steam curled upward, carrying the scent of lavender and crushed leaves. Mira soaked a clean cloth and wrung it out before turning back to me.“This may sting a little,” she warned softly.I flinched as she wiped the dried blood from my arm, but her touch was careful, almost reverent. The water washed away the cold, the dirt, the humiliation clinging to my skin. She cleaned each scratch slowly, applying a salve th

  • Bloodline of shadows   CHAPTER TEN- Shadows over the pack

The meeting hall smelled like old wood and tension.Every step I took inside felt heavier than the last, as if the walls themselves were pressing judgment into my skin. The murmurs from outside still echoed in my head, sharp and cruel, even though the doors had closed behind us.Jayce walked a step ahead of me, his shoulders squared, his presence the only thing keeping the air from crushing me completely. Wolves lined the edges of the hall, their expressions tight and wary. Some looked angry. Others afraid. A few looked at me like I was already guilty of something I did not understand.Jayce turned to face the pack, his voice carrying easily through the space.“Listen carefully,” he said. “We are not jumping to conclusions. The Alpha is missing, not dead. Until proven otherwise, we assume he is alive.”A ripple of unease passed through the room.“He would not disappear without warning,” someone argued. “Something took him.”Jayce nodded once. “Which is why we will search. In groups. A

Jayce froze .The forest felt colder the moment the rogue disappeared into the shadows.Jayce stood completely still, staring at the torn piece of black fabric on his hands . The weight of silence pressed around us, heavy… suffocating. My chest tightened as I watched his jaw clench, watched the tremor run through his hand.He grabbed my wrist and pulled me with him, sprinting through the trees with a speed that left no room for questions.Branches snapped under our feet as we ran. Fear clawed at my chest, each heartbeat loud enough to drown out the forest. Jayce’s grip tightened, his breathing sharp, focused, filled with a panic he was trying desperately to hide.“We need to get back to the pack,” he said, voice low and shaking with urgency. “Now.”We broke through the last line of trees, the pack’s gates rising ahead. Warriors on duty stiffened as soon as they saw Jayce’s face.“Open the gates,” Jayce barked. “Immediately.”Confusion rippled through them, but no one dared hesitate. T

  • Bloodline of shadows   CHAPTER EIGHT- “ THE ROGUE’S MESSAGE “

Morning sunlight brushed across my face before I even opened my eyes. Warm, soft, gentle… so different from the cold floors and harsh dawns I used to wake to in the village. For one moment, I forgot where I was. Then the scent hit me earth, and something wild. The pack house.Looked like Lucar didnt sleep in the room that night.A soft knock broke the silence.“Hello”Jayce’s voice steady, calm, familiar.I pushed myself up slowly, rubbing sleep out of my eyes.“Come in,” I whispered. The door opened, and Jayce stepped inside with his usual relaxed confidence. His dark hair was messy from training, and a light smile tugged at his lips the moment he saw me awake.“Morning,” he said warmly. “Lucar told me to check on you.”He paused… then smirked.“Well, he didn’t actually say it. He just stared at me until I understood.”A laugh slipped from me before I could stop it.Jayce pointed at me playfully.“That’s two laughs in two days. I’m keeping count.”I rolled my eyes, but my cheeks wa
