My name is Lucar Vale, Alpha of the SilverClaw Pack

the strongest bloodline in the entire Northern Region.

Strength wasn’t something I prayed for.

It was forced into my bones.

My mother died in the Great War killed right in front of me by rogues who wanted our land, our bloodline, our power.

I was just sixteen.

Her death carved something vicious into me. A hunger to protect. A fury that never fully sleeps.

People say an Alpha’s power is tied to emotion.

If that’s true, then mine was forged in grief and sharpened by rage.

Even now… years later… my wolf still remembers that night.

Sometimes, he remembers too much.

Jayce, my Beta, grew beside me trained, bled, and fought with me. He’s the only one who dares to talk to me like I’m not just an Alpha but a man.

Especially about the one topic I avoid.

“You need a mate, Lucar,” he insisted earlier that evening as I sharpened my claws against a fallen log.

I didn’t look up. “Not this again.”

“Yes, this again,” he snapped.

“The ceremony is in two weeks. If you don’t find your mate by then, your wolf will tear through everything in his way.”

“My wolf is under control.”

“Your wolf,” Jayce said slowly, “is hanging on by a thread.”

I hated that he was right.

Every full moon, the pull inside my chest grew stronger, hotter, wild. My wolf was searching for someone… someone I had never met.

And time was running out.

I hadn’t planned to be anywhere near the human villages that night.

Jayce and I were patrolling the northern borders rogue scents drifting too close, tracks that didn’t belong to any known pack, and a tension in the air that made my wolf restless.

Jayce walked a step behind me. “Smell that?”

I already had.

Rot.

Smoke.

Death.

Rogues.

“They’re close,” I muttered, my voice deepening. My eyes flickered silver.

“Too close to the human edge,” Jayce frowned. “They never come this far.”

“Exactly. Something’s wrong.”

Then… a scream.

High,Terrified, Human.

I froze. Every instinct inside me sharpened like a blade.

Jayce hissed, “Someone’s…”

I didn’t wait.

I shifted instantly.

Bones cracked.

Fur erupted.

Power burst from my skin as my wolf took over massive, black, and uncontrollable when danger calls.

I tore through the forest.

And then I saw her.

A human girl, cornered against a tree shaking so violently she couldn’t even breathe. Two rogue wolves stalked toward her, jaws open, red eyes glowing with hunger.

I didn’t think, I didn’t plan, I attacked.

I slammed into the first rogue with full, brutal force hurling it sideways into a thick tree trunk. The impact shook the ground. The creature yelped in pain, collapsing in a heap.

The second rogue lunged at the girl, I planted my paws into the earth, lifted my head, and released something no human should ever hear.

My Alpha scream.

It ripped from my chest like thunder, deep, ancient, commanding.

The forest shivered.

Leaves rattled.

Birds fled the trees.

Even the ground trembled beneath us.

Both rogues stopped mid-attack

ears flat,

tails dropped,

eyes wide with primal terror.

And they fled without looking back.

Silence swallowed the forest.

Slowly, I turned to her.

She was pressed against the tree, trembling so hard her knees nearly buckled. Dirt streaked her cheeks. Her breaths were fast and broken.

Then she lifted her head.

And I saw them.

Her eyes.

Brown but not the simple kind.

Warm, soft, glowing like honey melting into caramel.

So deep I felt myself falling without even moving.

My breath caught.

My wolf froze.

For the first time in years…

he fell silent.

Completely, utterly silent.

I stared at her

fragile, breakable, innocent.

Long lashes trembling.

Soft lips parted in fear.

Pain hiding behind her eyes.

Beauty she didn’t even seem aware of.

Something violent snapped awake inside me.

A jolt shot down my spine.

My wolf surged forward, snarling one thing:

“Get her, Claim her, Mark her.”

I stumbled back, fighting him fighting myself.

My vision flickered silver to black, silver to black caught between man and wolf.

Her scent was too close.

Her heartbeat was too loud.

Her fear was too sweet.

She took a tiny, desperate breath and whispered:

“Please… don’t hurt me…”

Her voice.

Soft, Frightened, Sweet.

It almost broke me.

My wolf jolted overwhelmed by the sound of her.

Then it happened.

He snapped loose.

He surged forward before I could stop him.

My eyes turned pure silver.

My body moved on instinct toward her.

I lowered my muzzle to her neck…

breathed in her scent…

and something ancient ignited inside me.

I tried to pull back.

I tried to stop him.

But the wolf didn’t listen.

He took over.

And then

I bit her.

The mark of an Alpha.

The beginning of everything.

  • Bloodline of shadows   CHAPTER SIXTEEN—- The awoken

The certainty settled into my bones, quiet but unshakable. My breathing slowly evened out, though my heart still ached with that strange, aching pull—like an invisible thread stretched tight between us.I wiped my cheeks with the back of my hand and forced myself to stand.I needed Mira. The hallway outside felt different as soon as I stepped into it—heavier, charged. Pack members moved about in low voices, their heads turning as I passed. Conversations dipped. Eyes followed me.I ignored the tightness creeping up my spine and kept walking.Mira was near the east wing, barking orders at two younger wolves when she spotted me. Her sharp expression softened instantly.“You should be resting,” she said, already moving toward me. “After everything—”“He’s alive,” I said, the words tumbling out before she could finish.Mira froze.“What?”“Lucar,” I whispered. “He’s alive. I can feel it. I know it sounds—”She grabbed my arms gently but firmly, searching my face. “You’re sure?”I nodded. “

Mira was already gone when the weight of everything finally crashed into me. The room felt too quiet, too empty, like even the walls had turned their backs. The door opened quietly.I looked up, my heart jumping straight into my throat.Jayce stepped inside. His shoulders were tense, his jaw locked so tightly I could see the muscle ticking beneath his skin. There was dirt on his boots, a smear of dried blood on his sleeve that wasn’t his. He closed the door behind him with care, as if the room itself were fragile. For a moment, he just looked at me.Something in his eyes told me everything before he even spoke.“They’re gone,” he said at last, his voice rough. “The trail vanished near the ravine,No scent, no markings. Nothing.”My chest tightened painfully. “Lucar?”Jayce nodded once. “The rogues were smart. Too smart. They covered their tracks, broke the scent line, used the river.” His hands curled slowly into fists. “They took him.”The words slammed into me.Took him.My mouth op

  • Bloodline of shadows   CHAPTER FOURTEEN— The time has come.

Mira forced her breath to steady.I could see it in her chest, the way she fought to calm herself. Fear would not help us. Panic would only sharpen whatever was hunting me through dreams and destiny alike. She reached out and gripped my hands firmly, grounding me. Her fingers were warm. Steady. Unyielding.“Listen to me,” she said, her voice low, stripped of all softness. “Whatever is calling to you does not do so lightly. Wolves do not choose without reason. And ancient forces do not whisper unless they intend to collect.”My breath hitched. My throat tightened.“I don’t want this,” I whispered. “I didn’t ask for it.”“I know,” Mira said, her eyes burning now. “None of the chosen ever do.”She rose suddenly, pacing the room like a caged animal. The healer’s calm was gone, replaced by something sharper. Older. Dangerous.“There are stories the elders stopped telling,” she said. “Stories about bloodlines erased. About power sealed away when it threatened to shatter the balance between

  • Bloodline of shadows   CHAPTER THIRTEEN - Whispers of the moon

The night had been restless. Shadows shifted across the walls, twisting with the pale light of the moon. I slept fitfully, tossing and turning, haunted by a dream I couldn’t understand.A soft knock broke through the haze.“Aria?” Mira’s voice called gently. “Are you awake?”I stirred, blinking through the fog of sleep. My body trembled, my forehead damp with sweat. Mira stepped inside immediately, her eyes scanning me with concern.“You’re sweating… shaking,” she murmured, moving closer. “Sit up slowly.”I obeyed, though my hands still trembled. “I… I had a dream,” I whispered, my voice tight. “Someone… someone kept saying… ‘The time has come. The time has come.’ Over and over.”Mira’s expression softened, but her gaze was sharp. She sat beside me and placed a steady hand on my arm. “Tell me everything, Aria. Every detail.”“I’ve had the first dream for a long time,” I told Mira quietly. “It always starts the same way.”I’m standing in a forest that doesn’t feel real. The trees are to

  • Bloodline of shadows   CHAPTER TWELVE- Broken bloodline

The moment we were out of the hallway, away from the eyes and whispers, my legs finally gave out. She caught me instantly, one arm wrapping around my back, the other under my knees.“Easy,” she murmured. “I’ve got you.”I didn’t even protest as she carried me down the quieter corridor. My body felt heavy, exhausted, like all the strength had drained out of me at once. The pack house noises faded behind us, replaced by the soft crackle of herbs and the faint scent of smoke as we entered her quarters. She laid me gently on a low wooden bench near a basin filled with warm water. Steam curled upward, carrying the scent of lavender and crushed leaves. Mira soaked a clean cloth and wrung it out before turning back to me.“This may sting a little,” she warned softly.I flinched as she wiped the dried blood from my arm, but her touch was careful, almost reverent. The water washed away the cold, the dirt, the humiliation clinging to my skin. She cleaned each scratch slowly, applying a salve th

  • Bloodline of shadows   CHAPTER ELEVEN- under their wrath

I was making my way down the hallway, trying to steady my thoughts, when a sudden shadow blocked my path.“Going somewhere, human?”I looked up and saw Zari standing there, flanked by two of her closest friends, their faces twisted with anger and contempt. My stomach sank.“Zari… I’m just…” I began, but she cut me off with a sharp laugh.“Don’t play innocent with us! Don’t act like you belong here!” Zari snapped, stepping closer. Her eyes blazed with fury. “You brought danger to this pack. You brought the rogues to us!”Her friends circled me like predators, their expressions full of distrust and venom.“You expect us to believe you didn’t lead them here?” one of them hissed. “The Alpha disappears the same day you wander into the forest. Coincidence? I think not.”I shook my head frantically. “I..I didn’t! I swear! I didn’t even know they were following me!”Zari’s eyes narrowed. “Lies. Humans always lie. And you’re no exception.” She jabbed her finger sharply against my arm. The tip
