We reconvened in the hall again and took our seats as Adelie was sworn in by Alpha Keller. Rupprecht looked paler than before, and this time, it was me smiling. This would be the end of him. I felt immensely sorry for Adelie to have to relive her trauma in front of all these strangers.

“Princess Adelie, as stated by King Kai, were you in Seward on the day in question?” Alpha Steiner asked her.

“I was,” Adelie said.

“Can you please tell us what happened in Seward?” Steiner asked.

“I was sitting with Adara Sinclair when eight rogues in their wolf forms entered the house, two rogues were in their human form aiming firearms at us. Henrik entered the living room and ordered the men to take me. Adara stood in front of me, refusing to let them take me. Henrik said if I went with them willingly, they’d kill her quickly. I heard shots fired and Adara went down as she was shot and Henrik pulled me out of her house,” she said.

“Where were you taken then?” Keller asked her.

“They took me to the a

Royal weddings were about bringing together two countries, more than the actual two people getting married, since it was mostly arranged marriages. Traditionally, the bride’s gown would be in her house colors and the groom in his. After the wedding ceremony, the bride will change her gown for an evening dress in her husband’s colors for the celebrations. It signified the unity of the two royal families, and that the wife was subservient to her husband by wearing his royal colors. To me, it was the perfect opportunity to emphasize Adelie’s place in my life. She needed to learn that only so much was acceptable, with regard to her behavior. After the wedding, the royal couple went for a carriage drive through the town where the residents would all line up to greet the King and new Queen. After that, the happy couple will return to the castle, where all the traditional stuff would be done, the royal wedding photo, the first dance, cutting of the cake, and the speeches, etc. A few hours la

“Come in,” I said to the knock on the door.“Your Majesty, it seems that Princess Adelie has gone for a walk, and will not be joining you for lunch,” Duncan said, as he stood in front of my desk. He looked uncomfortable at being the messenger between us, and I knew exactly how he felt. I was uncomfortable with the whole situation, as well.“She knew very well that we had an appointment for this afternoon since she was the one that requested it,” I said to him. I was at my wit’s end with her. She went out of her way to irritate me. She avoided me and she was playing a dangerous game.“Your Majesty, if I may, it seems that she is intent on doing everything you don’t want her to do,” he said to me.“What do you mean, Duncan?” I asked him.“She ordered Zoran to stay,” he said to me, as I stood up.“Do you mean to tell me she’s wandering about somewhere with no protection?” I almost yelled at him. She was scratching an itch that didn’t exist, and I knew that sooner, rather than later, I wa

Later that afternoon, I took Paul back to Seward and we talked. I answered all his questions and he was careful when he asked about Kari. I didn’t tell him the whole truth there, not about the enchantment and all that, only that Kari was severely depressed. He seemed intrigued and I laughed so hard when he asked me if I could turn him. He wasn’t impressed when I told him that it didn’t work like that. Thanks, Hollywood. I told him I’d check in on him, and to keep his mouth shut, then I told him that Levi next door was the equivalent of the big bad wolf.Back at the castle, and not having done any work for the day, I showered and changed for dinner. I still kept my emotions off because if I turned them on, I’d end up going to Adelie’s room and I didn’t trust myself around her.“Princess Adelie regrets to inform you that she will not be joining you for dinner this evening,” the butler said, as he appeared in my private dining room. I mostly ate here alone since Tala and Falcon spent all

I poured Paul a stiff drink once I got him seated in my office on the couch. His hands were shaking, he was pale, and I could hear his heart racing. I put the glass down on the table in front of him as he eyed me warily.“So you speak to animals? And what the fuck was that blue shit on your hands?” he asked me, his eyes wide with fear.“Have a drink, Paul, you’re going to need it,” I said to him, as I sat down opposite him and emptied my glass.“Where the fuck am I?” he asked, as he picked the glass up and drank half of it.“You’re in Scotland,” I said to him, and wiped my hand over my face. Fuck it, I’d have to tell him the truth or just wipe his memory.“Those wolves disappeared into the forest then ten huge ass men came out,” he said, his hands shaking again.“Okay, Paul, I’m just going to tell you all of it, keep an open mind, because nothing in this world is what you think it is,” I said to him.“Tell me,” he said, as he emptied the glass and I handed him the bottle.“We’re what

“The wedding’s back on?” Falcon asked me, as I sat in my office. I had given instructions for Adelie’s chambers to be prepared for her return and then told Duncan to continue with the planning of the wedding.“Yes,” I said to him.“I thought her memories of you were wiped, did she remember something?” he asked me frowning.“Not exactly,” I said to him.“What do you mean ‘not exactly’?” he asked.“She’s pregnant… besides, I don’t have to explain myself to you,” I said to him. She would be arriving in a few hours.“Holy shit, Kai, did you enforce the age-old law of an Alpha’s heir on her?” he asked me, his face suddenly angry.“What does it matter if I did? It’s my child and I’m doing what’s right!” I said angrily too.“Switch your emotions on, because the real you would never do this to her,” he said to me.“Leave me alone, Falcon,” I said to him.“Dammit, Kai! You’re essentially doing the same thing to her that Rupprecht did!” he yelled at me.“Get out,” I said to him. I was close to

“Your Majesty,” a man said, as I stepped off the helicopter two hours later, followed by Carter and Dr. Foirbeis. Carter stood in front of me and looked at the man who was slightly bewildered at our arrival.“Name,” Carter said to him.“Charles, I’ll announce your arrival to the king,” he said, and bowed his head.“Thank you, Charles,” I said.We followed him from the helicopter towards the stately house’s entrance. It wasn’t a castle or a palace, but more like a large country house.“Your Majesty, what an unexpected surprise,” Adelie greeted me at the door. She couldn’t meet my eyes.“We should talk, preferably with your brother,” I said to her.“Please don’t,” she said so softly, that I doubted if anyone else besides me heard her.“Kai!” Sacha’s loud voice carried down the hall as he strode towards me with a huge smile on his face, “I heard some cheeky royal arrived unannounced on my doorstep.”“Good to see you too, Sacha,” I said with a genuine smile, as we shook hands.“Let’s reti
