Slap

Rain sucked in a deep breath.

Her heart pounded harder and suddenly it became hard for her to exhale.

What had she just done?

She took two steps back subconsciously and stared down at her palm, her stinging palm that was a painful reminder of what she had just done. Only a few seconds ago, all she saw was red, anger and trauma mixed together and rearing out it’s ugly head.

He’d told her to sleep with him for money, to use her body to pay a debt that wasn’t even her’s to bear in the first place and she lost it.

Those words sounded so familiar, those words shook her to her very core and she couldn’t help the anger that claimed her senses but now she could see clearly and now she realized that she just slapped Alexander.

Hard.

He didn’t turn his face to the other side despite the force she used, instead his jaw clenched and his eyes staring down at his clenched fists instead of her face.

Fear consumed her.
