Lucian and I were still gazing at each other when my father entered the kitchen.

"I need blood and see the open refrigerator is full, if you don't mind handing me a bag I'd be grateful," Nikolai said firmly. Lucian looked startled and bent over snatching a bag. He tossed it to my father as my dad informed me that my celebration had been rescheduled and would be held in three days.
