With the promise of seeing me soon, the Alpha twins walked out of the office. A strange kind of silence settled over me, almost prickling at my skin. I felt sweat starting to collect at the back of my neck, a flush spreading across my face, making me feel too warm and uncomfortable in the room with a tall, french window.

I parted my mouth, not knowing whether it was to breathe or scream when the door to my office was pushed open—a faint sound of familiar noise echoing in my ear and footsteps that made the ground vibrate beneath.

“Erin!”

That single word pulled me back into reality, body jolting in the seat as I looked up only to see my best friend. Isabella’s expression was blank as she approached, just watching me the entire time.
