Chapter 1

Author: Leading Gem
When I said that, my three-year-old son, Noah, stared at me in disbelief.

Then he immediately opened his little arms and threw himself toward me, crying in a small, childish voice, "Daddy! Daddy, don't you want Noah anymore?"

He rarely acted spoiled with me like this, so that one word, Daddy, made me pause.

Had I just imagined it?

Of course. It was too absurd. How could he possibly be my little brother?

I hugged him and thought my wife, Clara, must have lied to me after all.

But in the very next second, I heard his voice again.

[Ha, throw me away? I'm his little brother!]

[Divorce is fine, but throwing me away isn't! Otherwise, how's he supposed to willingly buy me a house, a car, and everything else?]

I stared at his mouth again.

That was when I realized I wasn't hallucinating. I could really hear Noah's thoughts.

I was so frightened that I let go of him at once and stared at him in horror.

Clara finally came back to herself and hurriedly said, "Honey, I swear to you, I've never touched another man besides you!

"Maybe the hospital made a mistake. Why don't we go ask them?

"And he's only three. How can you say we should throw him away..."

"Throw who away?"

Suddenly, my own mother, Margaret Griffin, burst in from outside and roared, "Who wants to throw Noah away?"

The moment I saw Margaret, Noah's thoughts rang out again.

[My mission after transmigrating here is to make this idiot Dylan Griffin raise me until I turn eighteen, then buy me a car, a house, and give me a million-dollar wedding fund!]

[So I absolutely can't let him get his way!]

[Now my real mom is here. Let's see what he dares to do!]

So that was it.

Noah was a soul from somewhere else. No wonder his mind was so terrifying despite being only three years old.

Clara still didn't know what was happening. She handed Noah's physical report to Margaret. "Mom, Noah's blood type doesn't match either of ours. I don't know which step went wrong."

Margaret froze when she heard that. Then she reached toward me and yanked several strands of hair from my head.

I gasped from the pain, but she ignored me completely. "I told you not to let Noah take those useless checkups. They're all scams!

"Now look what happened. They made you lose your mind and want to abandon my precious grandson!

"If you don't believe it, I'll do a paternity test for you. Wouldn't that settle everything?"

Right.

I suddenly remembered that every time Noah needed a physical or blood test, Margaret had stopped it in every possible way.

Either she said she couldn't bear to watch Noah cry from pain, or she said it was all a scam for money.

Now it seemed she'd only been afraid that I would discover the blood-type issue too soon.

The force of her tug made me stagger a few steps. Noah couldn't help laughing. "Grandma beat the monster! Beat that fat pig monster!"

He had often mocked me for being fat before, but I'd assumed he was only a three-year-old who didn't know better.

Now I realized he hated me. He treated me as free labor and a sucker.

He believed that no matter what he did, I, his so-called father, would never get angry with him.

At that thought, I raised my hand and slapped him across the face. "Noah Griffin! Who taught you to speak with so little manners?"

Noah's cheek instantly turned red, and he burst into tears.

Before Clara could say anything, Margaret pointed at me and shouted, heartbroken, "Dylan Griffin! I'm still your mother!

"You hit my precious grandson right in front of me. Where are your manners? I raised you for nothing!"

Our shouting drew my sister Paige and her boyfriend, Trevor Bell, in from outside.

"What happened?"

When Noah saw them, his thoughts screamed with excitement.

[Daddy! Daddy's here too!]

[Ahhh, my daddy's so handsome!]

[No wonder my real mom fell for him the first night Paige brought him home to meet the family!]

[But at least my real mom is still decent-looking. Daddy did it willingly, hee hee!]

Hearing that, I froze where I stood.

So the son I'd raised for three years was actually the child of Margaret Griffin and Trevor Bell?

Then where was my child?

Where had my child gone?

My heart sank. There were no cameras there, and no witnesses. There really was no evidence. But her story clearly didn't make sense either.Sure enough, the officer began questioning her. "According to you, you gave birth, but instead of recovering, you went to care for your daughter-in-law?"Also, why didn't you tell them that you'd given birth?"And no one lives in that old house anymore, right? You left a child there for three years without asking about him. What does that mean?"Before Margaret could keep arguing, Paige couldn't take it anymore. Her eyes were red as she rushed forward and grabbed Margaret's arm, her voice sharp with disbelief. "Mom! Why did you do this?"He's my boyfriend! How could you fall for him?"Then she turned to Trevor, tears and humiliation spilling down her face. "Trevor Bell, you bastard!"You're not human. You even slept with my mother!"Trevor's face went pale, then flushed red. Humiliated and angry, he immediately bit back, "You blame me? S

"What? Isn't that her older daughter's boyfriend?""This is insane. The gossip of the century!"Noah's thoughts filled with fear and resentment too.[No! How could this happen?][How do they know? Impossible!]Paige froze for a moment, then screamed and lunged at me. "Dylan Griffin! What nonsense are you saying?"How could Noah be Mom and Trevor's child?"Tell me! Are you saying this because you can't stand that Trevor is better than you?"I ignored her hysterics and handed her a stack of documents. Then I continued, "The year Clara was pregnant, Mom kept hiding in the countryside, saying she was unwell. Do you remember?"I investigated it all. She was hiding there to give birth."Paige tremblingly opened the documents. Inside was Margaret's delivery record. To keep people from knowing, Margaret had even used Clara's ID.I asked, "The day that happened, Clara had just given birth the day before. How could she possibly appear back in our hometown?"I had the hospital pull

"Little brother?!""What do you mean, little brother?""If he's his little brother, doesn't that mean he's his mother's son?"The whole room erupted when I said that.Only Margaret, Trevor, and Noah froze.Noah still had tears on his face, but panic filled his heart.[How does he know? My mom swapped me out not long after I was born!][Impossible! He can't know!][Where did it go wrong? If I can't complete my mission, how am I supposed to go back?]He hurriedly grabbed my hand, looking pitiful. "No, Noah isn't Daddy's little brother... Daddy..."Margaret came back to herself and pointed at me, screaming, "Dylan Griffin, you're insane!"How dare you slander me like this?"After your father died, I only had you and Paige as my children. Where would I get such a young son?"If you have a report in your hand, then what's the one in mine?"Trevor hurriedly echoed her. "Exactly. Your report must be fake. Treating your mother like this will get you struck by lightning!"Clara g

Everyone's eyes fell on the thin child.Leo wore clean new clothes, but long-term malnutrition made him look a full size smaller than Noah. His face was timid, but his eyes were exactly like Clara's.The neighbors' murmurs suddenly died."Why... why does that child look so much like his wife?""Yes. He looks much more like her than Noah does...""Could that be his wife's illegitimate child?""So Dylan wants an illegitimate child to please his wife and doesn't want his own son?"The moment Margaret saw Leo, she guiltily retreated two steps.I took Leo into my arms and approached her step by step. "Mom, you know better than anyone who my son really is, don't you?"She froze, then raised her hand to slap me. "Well, look at you. You'd abandon my precious grandson for some bastard?"I dodged quickly. She shouted furiously, "Give me one million dollars right now. I'll raise Noah for you!"But after today, we're cutting ties as mother and son!"The neighbors applauded, but I only

When Margaret saw Clara bringing officers with her, panic flickered across her face. But she quickly steadied herself and forced a smile. "Clara, Dylan is my son no matter what. Even if he's wrong for abandoning Noah..."Family shame shouldn't be aired in public. Let's not bring this to the station, all right?"You love your son. I love mine too. How could you call the police on my son?"Paige curled her lip impatiently. "Mom! Why are you still being partial to Dylan at a time like this?"I'm not even married yet, and you expect me to help raise his child. Have you thought about me?"Trevor says he likes Noah, but what if his parents find out and disagree?"Trevor opened his mouth to say something, but the officer cut him off sternly."We received a report that someone here abandoned an infant. This child obviously isn't yours!"Her voice trembled as she held him.
