Chapter 4: Runaway Omega

Alpha Asher’s POV

“This city is big,” Rafael exclaimed as we came down off the jet and headed into the airport.

This was the second time I was coming to an event in this town. The first time I was here was several years back when my father was the Alpha. He had come for an Alpha’s only event then, but it wasn’t an auction.

It had something to do with a werewolf ring that they were about to auction, and my father bid the highest. Up till this day, I didn’t understand why he did that because we were lycans. We didn’t need it. I didn’t know where he kept it or what he did with it.

“You are saying that like you aren’t coming from a bigger city,” I passed him a look, and he rolled his eyes.

“Whatever.”

We headed into the airport and we were greeted by the pack’s theta.

“Welcome to the Crest Moon pack, Alpha Asher. We are pleased to see you here,” he bowed excessively.

I gave him a quick nod, “Thank you.”

He greeted Rafael too. Some of the airport staff started wheeling out our luggage. The theta directed us up to a limousine that was parked outside the airport. We got in, and the chauffeur greeted us before we zoomed off.

“I think the event has started.” Rafael sighed.

“I hope it hasn’t.”

The drive to the airport and palace was short. When we got there, several other Alphas were arriving at that moment. I recognized most of them because they were my acquaintances.

I barely kept friends because I knew how backstabbing people could be. My only friend was Rafael. I trusted him to death, because I knew he could never betray me.

We grew up together. If he wanted to betray me, there were several times when I was at my weakest point that he could have taken advantage of, but he didn’t. He was my only true friend.

When I got down, I could hear the place getting silent. I could tell it was because of my scent. The scent of the only lycan king, since all of them here were werewolves. Their eyes trailed on me as I headed to one of the seats that were empty.

They allowed Rafael in too, which wasn’t allowed because he was a Beta, but I guessed they bent the rules for me. When we got to our seats, we sat down as we awaited for the event to start.

“This is arranged nicely.” He smiled as he looked around.

I made a low sound of approval as I checked the place out. It was arranged beautifully. It was a dark black and white setting, but done beautifully.

“Alpha Asher!” Someone voiced out behind us, and I cocked my neck to glance at who it was.

Alpha Alex. He looked different from the last time I saw him. He looked older and even more pathetic than he looked all those years ago. There was something about his face that I disliked.

“Alpha Alex,” I replied plainly.

“I didn’t think you were going to come. You never come for our Omega auctions. I thought you had enough of them.” He smiled.

“Oh, I do. I just came for the after party that would happen afterwards.” I lied.

I really wanted to stay for it but now that I am here, it felt like I would waste my time. I just needed to bid the highest, and that would do the trick about who was the better person in the room.

It could be a better conversation than trying to bond with these people, when all they felt towards me was intimidation and fear. It has always been like that but they still needed me, so I knew they were going to be swarming my seat once the auction were over.

“Okay, Alpha Asher,” he nodded. “I hope you get the lady.” He says before he stalked off with another guy that has been standing beside him.

The event soon started and the lights of the hall dimmed. A spotlight shone on the stage where I supposed the Omega was supposed to be on display. The pack’s Beta addressed us and introduced the event before the Omega was pushed to the stage, and she nearly stumbled off the stage to her death but she held herself back before she could.

She looked scared and uncomfortable. Her large blue eyes looked sunken, and her figure was bony. She looked like she hadn’t eaten in months. There were scars all around her body, which I was sure the other Alphas didn’t notice because the light that was cast on her was bright enough to conceal her skin.

Despite that, my eyes caught every detail of the cuts and scars on her body. She had golden hair that had started to matt in some areas, and she also had freckles that scattered all over her face.

“Omega Marsai, going at 950 dollars.” The Beta announced. “Go on. Head towards them.” He added.

She walked towards us, her strides weak and lazy. When she got to the first Alpha, he groped her and she cried in embarrassment. I had never felt sick this way. Not even when I was killing a person. She looked miserable as she headed to the table of every Alpha, and they touched her.

When she reached my table, I could smell the fear that was oozing out of her body. It got worse when she came to me, and I knew it was because she was terrified of me. Everyone here was terrified of me, but hers was different.

It was a sweet kind of fear. I liked it. When she noticed that I wouldn’t touch her, she headed back to the stage then the Alphas started to bid.

“1000 dollars.”

“2500 dollars.”

“5000 dollars.”

“10,000.”

“15,000.”

“150,000 dollars.” I raised my hand, and then collective gasps filled the room.

The Beta’s eyes were wide for a moment, then he cleared his throat.

“Sold.” He said, knowing no one would top my offer.

“I know you are rich, Asher, but this Omega is not worth all of the money you just bid on her,” Rafael whispered to me.

“It is not for her. It is for all of the Alphas in this room.” I stood up to my feet.

I was going to go and meet the girl, so she could get ready and we would be on our way. I wasn’t daft, so I knew I had to link her to me before someone steals her or she runs away, making me lose that kind of money to nothing.

I used my scent to track her down. It led me to a room. The door was slightly open, and I could hear her sobs. I came in and once she sensed my appearance, her body shook in fear.

“Alpha Asher.” Her hands shook as she bowed her head down in respect.

“Omega Marsai,” I replied, looking around the room, and I cringed.

Even the animals in my pack don’t live in a place like this. The Omegas in the pack must really be hated. I stalked forward towards her and leaned down to her level.

I removed the hair on her face, and she shivered. I had a sense that she was my mate, but I was going to reject her either way so I didn’t care.

Since I didn’t have anything sharp to cut my hands, I sunk my teeth into my palm until it started to bleed before I raised her head up. She looked at me for a second before she opened her mouth and I dropped some of my blood in it. She squinted as her body twitched in pain.

“Good.” I stood up to my feet. “We will be leaving in a few minutes. Make sure you get ready before then.”

“Yes… my Alpha.” She croaked.

She was coughing and crying harder. Her hands were wrapped around her body and she was writhing on the floor with pain. I let out a breath before I left her room and headed back toward the pack hall.

I met Rafael talking to a lady. If he wasn’t going to fly her with him back, then I had no interest in staying back while he flirted with her.

“Raf, we need to go,” I said, when I was close enough.

“Why? The event is just starting.” He frowned.

I gave him a look that he immediately understood. I really didn’t want to be here. I had underestimated my hatred for being in crowded areas.

“Fine,” he said to me before he turned around to the girl he was speaking to. “This conversation is not over. I will be back.”

She blushed and nodded before she stalked away. We were about to leave when Alpha Alex stood in our way. He looked excited.

“You outdid the event, Alpha Asher. Thank you so much.” He straightened his hand to shake me.

I looked between his hand and his face, “You are welcome.” I replied.

He put his hands down in embarrassment.

“Have you met Marsai?” He asked.

“Yes, we are just about to leave.”

“You aren’t staying for the after-party?” He questioned.

I didn’t reply to that either. He bit his lip before he led us down to where I just came back from. I hoped that she was done getting ready because I would hate to have to wait for her to finish packing before we left.

When we got there, the room was wide open. I pried my head inside, and found no one.

“Marsai?” Alpha Alex called out, but no one answered.

He checked around the room, then a look of panic evaded his face.

“Oh, my God.” He shuddered.

“What is it?” I asked.

“I think Marsai is gone. She has ran away.” He deadpanned.

I frowned. No way. I couldn’t have left her for just a few minutes, and she would have already found her way out. It wasn’t reasonable, I needed her back because I wanted to leave now.

She wasn’t smart to have left. She was linked to me so even if she went to the end of the damn world, I was going to trace her and bring her back to me.

“Don’t worry. I will have my guards and warriors look for her. She shouldn’t have gotten very far.” He panicked.

“You better do,” I growled.

She shouldn’t have run away from me. It was the biggest mistake she had ever made and when she is eventually caught, her punishment would be severe.

She shouldn’t have messed with me. There was a reason that I was the most feared Alpha in our time.
